As somebody who was born and raised in Zimbabwe in Africa..I am so glad that finally someone can at least teach the Americans what we have known for a very long time...The money system is a foreign and artificial concept that was created by white people...Most Africans have always known that you live off the land..and also you develop skills that can help you to be self sufficient.. But if you ever needed something else you can always use barter trade with your neighbours... This had been our way of living until the white man came to ruin us with a barrel of a gun.

To everyone saying Dame is contradicting himself based off things he said or did in THE PAST, ya'll are clearly not listening to the interview, nor do you have any sense. Just because a person was one way BEFORE does not mean they can't learn, grow and CHANGE. He clearly said that Farrakhan taught him some things about health and farming. That makes it obvious he learned things he didn't know before. People just want to be negative all the time and its just ignorant.

reasy1978 you commented 3 years ago. It’s now 2019. Dame is not farming. He is trying to launch a network. He said he wants a billion for a football team. Dudes a fake.

My grandmother is 89, smoked the first 45 years of her life, never exercised, eats candy daily, eats everything on a pig, fries everything, eats butter on everything, pours a ton of sugar and cream on cereal and eats everything that has so-called GMO' s and never buys organic. She still drives and never had any major health problems. On the other hand, Steve Jobs, a life long vegetarian, died at 56 of cancer.
Eat what you want but eat in moderation. My grandmother, although she doesn't eat healthy, she eats small amounts of food and has never been obese.

+CycleCruza, We obviously wish your GrandMother many more years, but Steve Jobs is a poor example to attempt to illustrate that a healthier diet may not help you live a longer life. You don't know what Jobs' family or medical history was (as it pertains to cancer or anything else). Furthermore, you don't know if he was doing something else in his lifestyle that may have predisposed him to cancer. BOTTOMLINE (as a science & health-care graduate from one of the best universities in AmeriKKKa)... If your GrandMa is predisposed to having a long life (in other words - if she has good genes), then she's shortening her lifespan on earth by indulging in those unhealthy behaviors.

+Mr Epifany I'm getting the impression that Dame's long talks are kind of therapeutic for him. I mean with all the stories being put out about him at least he can correct the misinformation that has been put out about him. I've listened to a couple of his videos with Dr. Boyce & these videos appear to be therapeutic for him. But with anything, as they say, eat the meat, & spit out the bones. So some of his tangents have some sort of revelations to them. He's like a young version of Dick Gregory because he can really go off on some tangents (Dick that is).

Thank you for highlighting the importance of farming. A lot of people are criticizing Mr. Dash's presentation and style. I appreciate that, with his wealth, success and as he has shared 'street beginnings,' he has developed appreciation for the land. Farming yourself, instead of paying someone who doesn't care about you to farm for you, is key to solving many of our problems.

    • @redlotusqueen
      @redlotusqueen 9 лет назад +2

Firstname Lastname LOLI know it appears that Damon Dash is the antithesis of Tommy Sotomayor, but if you think about it, they share small similarities: both actually appear to be arrogant, abrasive, condescending, and their messages can be unpalatable at times. I really enjoy the blunt, unpolished perspectives of others. There's less having to sift through pretenses.I do not agree 100% with Sotomayor's views (as with Damon Dash), but I listen to him because he does reveal major issues in the Black Community and drops some gems on how we need to improve the Black community (i.e. Black women need to stop having kids out of wedlock for multiple men; Black men needing to stop abandoning their kids and become more involved in parenting; the corrupt and biased judicial system in child support cases against men; Black women should wear their natural hair as opposed to investing their dollars in a 1 billion dollar industry that is controlled by the Koreans who do not give back to the Black community, etc.). I try to absorb knowledge from wherever I can, irrespective of whom the messenger is and however harsh it may sound. Sometimes it is the people we dislike or who are controversial that we learn the most from because they challenge us to think differently. The truth can hurtsand may sound unsavory but it might be what we need to hear as (Black) people to wake up.

Sad that these "brothers" don't know the Bible! Years ago a Christian radio personality gave his testimony. He said he could find hundreds of scriptures pertaining to money. He said this to a group of theologians. They didn't believe him. He went on to say "truly in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king." There are multitudes of verses pertaining to money, wealth, prosperity, piety, worship, sacrifice in the Bible. But sadly everyone only knows "money is the root of all evil" (1st Timothy 6:10). But if one reads the whole verse they will see it begins with "the love of money...." And if one continues to read the chapter Paul's commands Timothy to command those "who are rich to not be high minded, but trust in God who gives all things richly to enjoy" (1st Timothy 6:17). In the early Christian community there were those who had wealth but came to salvation by faith in Christ. Men can have money, just don't let money have you! Men need money to support their families, take care of their wives, be successful and not depend on the welfare state. And it the black community the only sources should not just be civil service jobs, entertainment or sports! Wealth in Old Testament times was based on how much live stock one had, servants, even wives (don't go there!), and status in the community (name known in the gate of the city, the then county seat). But ultimately one's faith in God was the determining factor (read Deuteronomy 8:18).

The reason why corn is such an important crop to grow right now is because 90% of it is grown from a GMO seed and the people selling the farmers these seeds are pesticide companies. Because corn is overgrown any leftover is given to our cows, chickens, and pigs. These animals were not designed to be on a strict corn diet they were made to eat grass. The corn fattens them up quick but is damaging to their development and they live in pain until up to slaughter. If you do eat meat make sure it's organic grass fed. Do some research for your local farmers as well they are more than willing transparent about how they treat their animals and the feed.

Dr. Watkins, with all due respect, PLEASE stop spotlighting this gentleman until he gets himself a little more together. I understand he is your friend and that you respect his business acumen, but, for real, he just comes off like the drunk uncle at the family BBQ. I'm not saying he's a drunk, just that he presents that way. He goes off the subject too easily with all kinds of rants and musings, and it doesn't help that, as a mature man with that gray stubble, he dresses like a teenager (something even you have criticized men in general for doing). It reflects on both his and your credibility.

To answer Dame’s question in the beginning as he asked Dr. Watkins where in the Bible does it talk about money? Then went on a Rent about how no where in Bible God talks about it. I guess except for the part that most people know and Dr. Watkins mentioned which is: “The love of Money is the root of all evil.”
Well, it does also state in the Bible: Money answereth all things.” So, I am not too clear what Dash is really talking about as it relates to this whole thing about Money?! Then again I haven’t watched the entire video yet. I had to pause to Insert this comment here. Now, I’ll go watch the rest! Thank you Dr. Boyce Watkins for this amazing platform you have created.

Damon there are many scriptures in the bible about money , wealth, tax collectors , so many verse talk about money, and a lot of men in the bible had money. Ecclesiastes 10:19 says 19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry; but money answereth all things.
if you have no idea about what your talking about damon dash , do not be afraid to shut up about it , because it does not make you look smart ! Money is not something "that was made to make men lazy and make others do work for them" We all help each other to survive unless you make your own clothes , grow you own food and built your own house , one again I suggest you shut up about it :)

Cut down on the sugar, it is an addiction it will lower your blood pressure and blood sugars, and you will gradually loose weight,I am not telling you to diet or eliminate it completely. Do the research and just watch your sugar intake. Bake with less sugar than the recipes call for slowly start reducing your sugar intake, use natural sugars instead of refined white sugars. If you use a teaspoon in your coffee cut it to half, stop the sodas, water them down until you can cut them out. Most physicians do not tell you that your blood pressure will be reduced if you reduce your sugar intake, try it for a month if you have high blood pressure and watch a reduction in your numbers and your weight.

Brief lesson on capitalism and how "our" current money system started: Britain - 1) Land barons built factories to manufacture weapons, bricks, etc., so that they could enrich themselves and build an empire, 2) They couldn't get the people to come and work in the factories because the people had their own farm land and crafts, traded with each other and therefore didn't need "currency," 3) The land barons kicked the people off of their land so that they wouldn't have their own means of survival and therefore would need "currency" given to them by the land barons after they toiled for the barons - This was repeated everywhere Europeans went.

Dame, people think you're crazy cuz you constantly contradict yourself--and at a mile a minute. Before you swore up and down "I'm a cake-a-holic" and "addicted to getting money." So, now... really? Glad for the change of heart; but his philosophy conveniently 'flips' when faced with the consequences of his actions. If he'd expressed some self-awareness and humility (not ranting against Jay, his ex, disloyal artists, everyone else's greed), he'd a been back on top now...exposing the 'vultures' he used to be like. Guess eleven years after the ROC, still hard to look in the mirror and see your part.

+manistiles1 It could also be that he is still hurt about being betrayed by people who he was loyal to & had their backs. I mean men get hurt too right? When they are betrayed by people they trusted. I don't know, I'm just guessing. I know there are certain people's names he keeps mentioning on the videos I've seen thus far. So whatever happened, he still hasn't gotten over it. It takes time. But at least he's trying to do something positive---farming & living off the land.

Dame has always been a real nigga, yeah he might be a little cocky, but I think he is just speaking his mind. Thats a real nigga in my mind. And he is right, if you got work on the street you not broke, your money is invested. Dame is from the streets, he knows the only way to make money, is to spend money, to invest your own money. Be your own boss, believe in yourself, invest in yourself. And anyone can do it, yeah you might have to start out small, but 100% of your profit is still 100%. You invest small, and grow.

Matt 6: "For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." There is no good in Mammon (money/fleshly things), in fact God and Mammon are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Man made money to gain control of the people to stand in the place of God and to replace the need for God.

I love when you too talk. Especially this episode. There are two things I must speak on though. One is, there are chapters about money in the bible and most of America's big business uses the Bible's financial strategy to govern their business that's why they're so successful. Second a lot of the things Dame says as well as Mr. ferakahn (excuse the misspell) also are stated in the Bible. it's just the misconceptions about the Bible perpetuated by Christianity distorts what we know about what it's really saying. On another subject if possible could you ask Dame if you ever get a chance, if he would do internships for movie making so young black people can learn the ins and outs of making good quality movies and take it out of the hands of the Hollywood agenda. That way we could put more meaningful content out that can change the perception of how black people view themselves in this society. Or better yet use it to show how possible it is to be self sufficient?
