What an ignorant and arrogant question to ask🤦🏾♀️. This has nothing to do with broke, but more to do with alternative choices and options people decide to exercise. Your ignorance is not becoming…just saying🤷🏽♀️
In Jamaica, containers are used mainly to make offices but rarely for homes, if at all. I remember saying to a friend that I thinking about it an yu fi si di look shi gi mi. 😀Rochelin, this is a game changer in terms of substance from our young Jamaican You Tubers. I don't know if I have seen any local person publicise their container home in Jamaica, I only see it done by overseas persons. This is inspiring to me and I hope it will be to other Jamaicans who may have given up on their dream of owning a home. Perhaps you are starting a movement. God bless yu my girl!
Patricia I think there is an apartment complex near Duhaney Park that used containers. At least that's what it looked like to me. Nuh mine yuh fren. It's a good idea. I'm gonna do it too. I just need to find the land. I was worried about lightning ⚡ strikes too but I read where you just have to ground your unit.
I remember back in the day , PM Edward Seaga built some apartments made from containers. If my memory serves me correctly they were on Seymour Avenue in Kingston. Over here in England containers are used regularly in constructing apartments. There is a whole multi-storey village in North Greenwich, London, built from containers. There is also a hotel in north London ,in Colindale, built from them. These are but a few. The thing is ,as the pocket allows, and the land can fit, you can always add more containers if you wish. The ideal modular situation.
Matter of fact container homes are very popular in the states...also saw videos of some persons using it in Japan, Australia and some European countries. Many if them are also quite expensive and looks just as good as some standard home.
It's hard to get good work men in Jamaica...they either cant do a good job or they are unreliable and tief. And everyone you ask for recommendations they dont have anything good to say about the workman they use. They use them cause they cant do better. It's terrible man. Nothing name work ethics they dont have. When someone better like a company comes about and gets all the customers they complain how life hard and govt nah do anything to help them. 🙄
Congrats. Now all you need is to cover the top of the container with solar panels to supply all or most of your power needs. It will also help with the cooling of the container by absorbing the sunlight.
Congrats. I have seen one with my own eyes in the Caribbean. I didn't quite understand it until I saw it for myself and they are pretty strong. I would recommend it for sure.
I'm so pleased that Jamaica has caught onto this idea. Have been building homes out of containers in the UK for over 25 years. Good for saving earth's resources and great for using in hot countries 👌 well done Roc
Trust me, I went to St Andrew High and for years I have been saying that I WISH SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME THE VALUE OF A SKILL rather than teach us through culture that skills and trades were for those who could not excel at academia etc. I would have thrived in trades/skills is what I believe. But, such is life, I can only do better for the generations after me, as well as "catch up" and still learn a thing or two because I love hands on things. I just didn't know it was an option, other than sewing, because I never liked that that much.
About two week ago , I mentioned buying some containers and creating a home to rent here in Ja. My fiancé totally disagrees with the idea, but I believe it will be a good investment.
I notice a few restaurants and business places using containers to build an they normally look very good. There's are companies here that do it but most Jamaicans are not open to living in containers. Atleast not until some foreigner comes and start selling container homes then they'll see the light. I've always seen tiny home series here on RUclips and loved the idea so I'm glad Roch is putting it out there for more of us to see. I hope more people will gravitate to it.
okokok that's it sis Im hiring Peter for my build. why cant we find more great men like him? his honest and again a great inspiration to black men globally. big up to Peter!
Girl, I’m getting me a few and stacking as they are cheaper than buying a house, I’m renting the lower of my container and living in upstairs! I’m hooked on container homes……
Over a decade ago, I was sitting in an undergrad psychology class recommending to classmates to switch to trade like plumbing or electrical instead of beginning the complicated, expensive road in university. I told them it would cost them less and they would make more. I was lucky the military paid for my classes, and I took the more challenging classes first.
I’m impressed by this young lady. Very resourceful, knowledgeable, intelligent and down to earth. Great job (being mortgage free) way to go👍🏽 Peterrrr the plumber is something else. Great to see he used his lemons to make lemonade 👏🏽👏🏽
I like this Plummer, he’s honest and straight forward, and him talk it like it is. People love to look down on other jobs and turn up them face but the jobs that people shun are usually the ones that pay well. I once tried getting a job on the garbage truck and the only reason I didn’t get it is because I am a female.
He is one of smarter plummer in Jamaica second to my brother in law Robbie honest work men in Jamaica need to shine and that what your plummer capitalist on peter blessings and rochelin blessings to you both never stop it good vibes to see Jamaican you tuder going for internet prize and a produce quality products to the positive viewers you is what Jamaica want
Portmore had container houses in the 80's. I remember seeing them when we used to visit my aunt. This is not new to Jamaica, but it's good to see it making a comeback.
Yow big up yourself Peter. And it never ceases to amaze me how these workmen treat their jobs. Just because they have a high demand the treat customers like trash.
Love how you share good information and not make it a mystery where you get your supplies from. Also enjoyed Peter the Plumber because he was very inspirational. I watched all your ads, shared, and liked because you give good vibes 🥰 thanks for the videos
I can't wait to see the completion setup by Jamaican contractors, I've been watching these container home being build in Africa, and it amazed me, so thanks for bringing into Jamaica light.

Tiny house and container homes are definitely the way to go to supply the younger generation with housing. Hopefully costs remain relatively low compared to traditional housing if it catches on.

This is so weird because just two days ago I was talking to someone after a pass a container somewhere, I said that container would make a nice home and now here i am watching this video☺️❤️

Congrats Roch on home ownership. Always interested in a container home. If you do not mind me asking how you sourced the container and cost please? Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing.
Added comment as time goes by you could add another container on top or beside to give you more space I have seen it done in the USA very proud of your achievement
This is inspirational. Really considering going this route now. Even if just for a rental space. Nuff respect to Peter the plumber. Know it’s not easy to get workmen, especially those passionate about their trade. Will stay tuned

I eventually gave up on the idea. Glad to see you were able to get it going though. But the cost of the fixtures in yours is pretty daunting. Great video series, btw.
Been watching for a long time and Im super proud of u Roch! You should consider doing a consultation service and aid persons along the process (at a cost of course) because many young persons are interested and would want guidance for the smoothest possible transitions. You can also develop a Rochielist (like Angie' List) with the workmen who work well for you.
