the similarities between North African and Balkan traditions are very remarkable !! my grandparents grew everything in their garden all sorts of veggies and fruits , in my parents garden we still have figs and different kinds of oranges , we used to have apple, lemon , and almond trees as well .
My aunt is the most creative person I know-she makes sculptures, pottery, paintings, jewelry, and even her own fruits and vegetables! There's nothing like home-grown produce! Love your vlogs, they inspire us to make our own!
My dad's family had a potato farm up in northern Maine. They sold it after my grampy died! Nothing beats fresh potatoes out of the ground in the fall!! 😊
Raya... don't worry about daily vlogging because I believe that viewers come for the person doing the vlog.... their perspective.. their narration... their own personality and their own timber of voice. Your voice is relaxing and welcoming. For me I just want to only spend my time with good, happy (they don't have to be perfect), clean people who are not vulgar and common. I enjoyed your post because your particular sweet views and language are so lovely all the time. I've also been amazed at the intregration of beautiful nature shots like you did of the flowers and bees. The colors and your choice of music is unique, beautiful and inspiring. I am enjoying this beautiful world God created, that I would never get to experience, but through the eyes of a inspired and lovely representative of Him. Thank you for bringing the best part of our world to us with love. It brings so much peace to my heart in this world that is broadcasted too much of the opposite. You are the best.. I loved your vlog with your grandparents and seeing fresh and beautifully presented food, and seeing your love for them. Just go out there and go for it Raya because you have a much more profound effect on people than you realize just by being the high quality person you are. You are an oasis in my day!
I grew up in Lithuania with my grandmother and aunt both having either growing fruit and vegetables or millions of different flowers, and I didnt really appreciate it at the time, and now that I live in Ireland I have days where I just want to go back and enjoy those moments :)
Bulgaria is so pretty! I love fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden :) I grew up too with it in Germany, my grandma planted currants (I dont know if the word is right but google says is lol - in german it's Johannisbeeren), rhubarb, raspberries, tomatoes, etc... but now our garden rebuild to a kind of parking spot because of my cousins business. but one day I want to have a own garden again! I also had a sandspit in the garden and played there everday. childhood memories
when i lived in new jersey as a little child i remember we had this massive garden with tomatoes and string beans and all types of herbs and it's some of my favorite memories of that age
My family is Greek and we grow all sorts of things, from olive, orange, lemon, pear and other fruit bearing trees, to tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and many other vegetables. It's a lot of work but it's worth it since you avoid all the dangerous pesticides. Bulgaria is actually beautiful, it's so close to my country and I'm gonna be visiting soon, which is very exciting.
We call the martenitsis 'martakia', which I guess is the same meaning and we also wear those kind of bracelets throughout March, however we don't hang them on tree branches,at least where I live.
My Dad grew up in the country. Every year he would grow string beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, romaine lettuce, squash zucchini. He would add a few new veggies each year. Tomatoes were my fav they tasted so sweet.
My mom is from Romania, and my grandparents live here in the states in NY, and their backyard looks like that! They grow so many veggies and flowers, I love it!
my pop and i had a lemon tree that we both grew together.a few weeks after he passed away there were tonnes of lemons on it.. we moved states and had to leave it behind but i bought another lemon tree and have it in the back garden
I can't recall not loving even one of your vlogs. You have a great eye for shots, and a warm, engaging natural presentation style. I say don't get caught up in overthinking! Trust your talents and let them "take over" the process!!
Grew up in very rural East Tennessee mountains. We grew everything and put much of it in the freezer or canned it. My favorite was a weird spiky type of light green broccoli. I loved it!
We grew up in the East Bay Area and had a garden very much like your grandparents garden. Loads of the best tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, herbs and peppers. I loved seeing your garden!!
Your grandparents' garden looks AMAZING! I honestly think my life would be made if I just had my own garden overflowing with wonderful fruits and veggies.
Hi Raya, thanks for shearing Bulgaria with us.I will be in Sofia next week, soooo excited.Spending time with my girl friend and her family.I am from Mauritius and it is so refreshing to see the young generation sitting at the same table with the elders.Keep it on
Raya I love how humble you are, because you hold onto your 'normal-ness' like you're down to earth and just realistic about things which is amazing to watch! It's so nice and brave of you to say 'hey, i'm doing this thing, it's scary, but i'm going to push myself.' You're honestly very inspiring because of your genuine soul and vibe you have so hold onto that! You're definitely inspiring me to challenge myself! Maybe I'll have to start making some more videos too :)
I'm from Oklahoma. My family has a farm and my great grandmother always had a huge garden. My favorite fresh veggies are everything I need for pico. Tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalopenos, and limes. Our largest crop for our friends and family was corn. Gardens are the best!
Thank you for sharing your family and culture and what you think is special to you. They are real and substantial and beautiful. Bulgaria is beautiful x
I also grew up in Bulgaria, but now I'm living in France ! We come back in Bulgaria every summer for a month and I miss Sooooo much Bulgaria. My grand parents live in Presiyan, close to Targovishte an hour or two away from Rouse, and the also grew vegetables in their garden which is as big as yours. My favorite row are also tomato because they are soooo sweet and they taste the best here 😍
That food looked amazing... I'm about to do a 30 day daily vlogging challenge starting Nov 10, so I was excited to see this. I think it'll be a great challenge, and I feel the SAME about being a perfectionist. This was the same reason I wanted to stay
My nana and papa have always grown fruit and veggies in their backyard, but my favourite is the row of cherries! Every Christmas we get buckets of cherries from there and end up completely full on them it's my favourite! Lots of love from Australia! 🍒❤️
Im so excited to see your daily vlogs!! & i'm sure your audience will love every vlog even if you arent 100% happy with it! I love you Raya!! Can we become best friends this month??!! Please
I'm blown away by how beautiful your home is! Especially the garden!! Wow! My husband and I took a train through Bulgaria on our honeymoon and didn't get a chance to stop and wow it is truly breath taking!
HI Raya! I grew up outside of NYC and my family grew most of our fruits and vegetables. This was mainly because my parents were poor hippies. Lots of tomatoes, peas, beans, peppers, pumpkins, strawberries and tons more. I loved it!
I grew up with great gardens, my dad always planted one no matter where in the world we were living we always had a great garden and fresh food. It reminds me of home and now that I own my first house I am getting ready to plant a great garden. Your home looks wonderful! Enjoy time with family.
yes! grew up on a farm in the british country side growing giant marrows, cherries and elderflower bushes. Then moved to South Africa and grew avos, passionfruits and figs. Amazing what climates can do!
Raya you are a most charming young woman. Your vlog warmed my heart and that is a great way to start my day. We had a small vege patch. We grew everything bar potatoes. I remember in summer on saturday mornings being in the garden with my parents as the strawberries were being picked. They were huge and juicey. I could not live without a garden. I bought my little house simply because of the tree in the tiny back garden.😀
9:33 PM Sunday in Clearwater FL watching the Olympics (no sound) AND learning from you about the amazing beauty of Bulgaria! We appreciate your work, your world view and think it's awesome you're going to regularly post videos.
Hey, Raya good to hear you're enjoying the visit to your relatives in BG. The way you present is unique and the fact that this episode is from Bulgaria makes me like it even more:) At the beginning i was following Louis and i was clueless that you're bulgarian. The idea for the daily vlogs is awesome! Keep them comin'. Best regards, Ivan
So excited to follow your journey! My grandfather was a beekeeper in Mexico and although he didn't grow things he produced local honey for about 40 years for his community! Can't wait for more videos❤️
Cannabis grows wild throughout the American midwest, particularly in ditches. It's called "ditch weed." Really low THC content. And, no, you don't get arrested if it shows up on your property provided you're not directly trying to cultivate it. Just an expected spill-over from the massive hemp production days during WWII.
oh yeah. my cultural background is lebanese. my parents migrated to Australia in the 60's and brought all of their awesomeness with them and they grow all sorts of fruit and veggies. I'm currently learning how to farm so the tradition carrys on. love your videos. keep up the great work.
Wow did not see that coming, made my day, it doesn't matter if it isn't perfect, life isn't perfect, but 110,000 people cant be wrong, we wanna see more!
So excited for your daily vlogs! I live in Manchester, England and when I was growing up my granddad had an allotment that he grew allsorts in, I used to love helping him! xx
I'm from North Dakota and my family has grown pumpkins, squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, peppers, peas, green beans. Basically quite a few things but it's in an area with a ton of farming around it. Loved the vlog! It was breathtaking.
Bulgarians and their amazing gardens and beautiful food!!! We also love it when the family sends us Martenitsas even though 1st March for us is end of summer...
Been here on this channel from the start, Raya. Your over 100,000 subs. Good choice on challenging yourself and doing the work! It can only pay off. We had a 15 by 30 ft garden in upstate NY in our yard. Cherry tomatoes (thousands). Beans, carrots, Lettuce, Tomatoes, etc.
I love this!!! I found you through Louis because of his dreads (I'm dreaded as well) & his travels but I must say the greatest thing I've found through him is you. I'm much older than you but I find you so inspiring. Thank you for being you & I'm really looking forward to your daily vlogging. I grew up in Texas & I most loved the watermelons & zucchini & lavender out of our garden.
I'm from Massachusetts, I grow blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins etc. Your Grandma's gardens are amazing!
Loving your videos Raya :) I'm from Melbourne Australia and when I was little (and still now) my family grows as much as we can in our garden. Tomatoes, corn, lemons, apricots, passionfruit...summertime reminds me of all the amazing home grown food I grew up on :)
Oh my gosh I'm so excited for you! And oh, if I've not mentioned this enough times, YOU are my FAVORITE youtuber/person ever! We have similar ways of thinking and I completely related with your "quarter life crisis" and "don't know what to do with your life?" videos. Your travel montages give me life and I absolutely love to hear you talk. You are one of my greatest inspirations to pursue my passion of traveling. Thank you for being you. Love from India 💕
I have been living for a year in Estonia with a host family and we grew loads of raspberrys, water melons, potatoes, cucumbers, blackcurrants and much more :D self-grown food is the best 😊
When I was a kid I had my own mini farm in the backyard. I grew veggies, peppers and tomatoes. I even grew corn and yam :) The yam was a little frustrating as it took about a year... but the reward was incredible. Happy days.
it's so nice to know that you started uploading daily, exactly when you are in Bulgaria. I've been wanting somebody to come here and just show it all (to the world, essentially) can't wait for the rest of the vlogs!
I want the world to see it too, it's just such a beautiful country! :)

Hi Raya! So happy you are daily vlogging this month! I live in Brazil and my grandparents used to grow vegetables and fruits, they even had their own honey! Good times!
What a magical day in your family garden. What a blessing. I especially loved that everything you are for dinner was harvested right from their backyard. Amazing! Hi from Vegas in the middle of the summer. Lol! Thanks for sharing. I'm happy your daily vlogging. It's a breath of fresh air to watch someone who is being their true authentic self.
So proud of you for starting this challenge Raya. I think it will be good for you as well. Excited to see more! Keep up the great work! You can do it! ✨💕
I spend nearly every summer of my childhood at my grandparents house in Poland. They have a huge garden with lots of food growing. Sometimes I even don't need to eat lunch because just picked some tomatos, carrots or apples while playing outside. Since we build a house with our own garden in Germany we also grow some delicious vegetables. Every year I just can't wait for the summer and don't need to buy the rubbish stuff from the supermarket.
I'm from the republic of georgia, and i have so many gardens too. we also have the wishing trees but our traditions are a little different. I'm in awe your country is identical to mine.
my grandparents stay in a village and we have a huge garden full of all kinds of vegetables and fruits. My personal favourite is drumstick because I find the tree extremely photogenic . I know it sounds weird but I have some really cool pics of it. Every time I go to visit them ...I spend most of my time there. Seeing your vlog kind of made me emotional . So emotional that I've decided to visit them next weekend ❤
Omg this reminds me so much of home, ive grown up in Romania and i use to spend all my summers at my grandparents house growing veggies and fruits and had so many animals. You and Louis really make me wanna start vlogging as well, you guys are such an inspiration. Have a wonderfull time in Bulgaria :)
So happy to follow all of what life has for you, as well as for you and Louis! Don't become discouraged by feeling like your daily vlogs should measure to a certain 'definition' or allow perfectionism to stand in the way of your strong, beautiful and talented character! You will cherish looking back and watching these one day! :) Love to you friend!
Wow Raya, your first daily was amazing. You are joining 2 days together so surely the sign off the first night isn't that big a deal ;) Thank you so much for sharing where you spent a lot of your childhood and the beautiful garden and foods. I also really enjoyed the close ups of wildlife and the tour around. Awesome! For me we I loved eating grapes grown randomly along the fence at my mans place (Australia) and am so keen to get my own growing sometime soon (in Japan). Inspiring, lovely and a beautiful demonstration of life. XO!
Raya, just wanted to say you're a beautiful soul! Your videos and Instagram inspire me with my writing and traveling, so THANK YOU. Have a great day! :)
Oh WOW ! What an enchanting place ! It will nice to 'see' you every other day, and learn about where you grew up. My mothers folks kept a pretty large garden, but it was a "farmers" garden, nothing so fancy. (50 years ago, I barely recall.) They lived in the NW part of our state, so we didn't get to see them but 2-3 times a year. After my Grandmother passed, my Grandfather worked on a couple estates where his 'green thumb' was used for more 'pretty' type of gardening/landscaping. Still, your home seems magical =Maine=
I would spend all my time here! Love the Ottoman style house...I saw loads of those in Albania, Turkey, Greece, and Safronbolu in particular :) Love the Bulgarian traditions btw.
I can't wait to watch your vlogs and get to know you. Don't put so much pressure on yourself, we love watching you for you just like all the other youtubers. Bulgaria looks amazing and that garden is perfection! We are growing tomatoes and strawberries in my garden currently and some herbs just on the window ledge :) x
Your vlogs are seriously making me want to visit Bulgaria. It's so pretty! And you should definitely make an how-I-edit-on-Instagram video, I'd love to see that.

Upload those other "imperfect" please!!! We want to see them. You don't have to be perfect we love you as you are!
I'm definitely for the instagram tips video!!!

Wow Raya,
your first daily was amazing.
You are joining 2 days together so surely the sign off the first night isn't that big a deal ;)
Thank you so much for sharing where you spent a lot of your childhood and the beautiful garden and foods.
XO!
Very excited for more videos!
Still, your home seems magical
=Maine=
the food looks amazing!

Yea, my dad grows corn and other vegetables in our backyard in Upstate New York... It's difficult with the harsh winters but it's good fun

Your vlogs are seriously making me want to visit Bulgaria. It's so pretty! And you should definitely make an how-I-edit-on-Instagram video, I'd love to see that.
Omg I am so happy. I love that you decided to vlog about Bulgaria because it reminds me of my homeland Croatia ☺
