Thanks for the video! Got the Fan Error message on start up. Ordered the part on Amazon for $10. Watched the Video. Took laptop apart and found area around the fan caked with a thick blanket of dust. A little like what you would find in a clothes dryer lint trap. Copper heat sinks looked clean from the outside, but inside it was a mess. Replaced fan and the laptop is running great. Thanks Again!
NOTE: You will need to reapply thermal grease / compound to the processor/heat sink contact point.

Useful! Though you remove some screws on the back that do not need to be removed. I just spent 3 hours removing a stripped screw because I thought it was required to be out lol. Live and learn though! Thank you for the video

Well it helped me, I didn't know the keyboard had to come out to get to the heat sink; don't bother replacing the entire heat sink, just get the fan. If you're careful with removal its $10 vs $50 to replace.

Thanks muchly. After lots of blowing through vents and tweaking... the fan finally gave up. So ordered a new fan from China and fitted without too much fuss thanks to your helpful vid. The fan did make an awful racket after first switch on, but a bit of judicious pressing here and there and it now runs silently.

dont need take it apart FAN-error only dirty fan take can of air blow out the back and side cpu vent thats it will run fine not takeing apart guys that take them part dont know what they doing

lisa your procedure worked on my laptop the first three times I got the fan error messages. A few weeks ago I turned it on got the fan error tried that procedure several times didn't work. I removed the fan from the heatsink it was not spinning at all on its own (had to force it). Finally installed the new fan and no more fan error.

You can check what fan you can buy in what is your laptop model and find it's website and search for fans
