From one pig owner to another, I would put a fence around the tree in the middle of the pen because as the hogs grow, they will kill the tree from their rooting. I built my first pens around trees for shade but they killed them. Try to find a 55 gallon plastic drum and get a gravity fed hog watering nipple. As they grow they will dump the water pales to make mud holes. Keep up with the good videos 😁😁
I’ve had hogs for 2 years in an area surrounding a tall oak. That tree is not dying at all and seems to be growing from their manure and constant water supply. I do muck the pen into the compost pile too. Got seriously rich compost from it after about a year of sitting to process.
Just an idea you can take the panels and a few T post and make a portable pen in your garden area and use your hogs to till your garden in the spring...always put your panels on the inside of your post they'll go to the fence and will push and rub against it the post on the outside will take stress off of the panels....plus I noticed that hogs will move as far away from their feed troughs and water in the pen to do their business the don't like to mess in their eating area.
We originally we going to place them in an area with some trees, but they was no electricity or water nearby. It was also a dark location with no dust till dawn lights nearby. So we choose near the barn. We would prefer to run them in the trees.
You are knocking those 2019 goals off left and right! Good job! edit: Here's a video of an animal shelter made of pallets. The guy has other videos building the pallet shelters and installing the roofing. BTW, I like the names "Pork Chop" and "Bacon Bit." They are really going to enjoy all that room to run around in in their new pen.
Just a suggestion, I would put a post in the middle of those sections now because when your pigs get bigger they will push there way out. Even though you have a electric wire around the bottom.
@@CountryViewAcres I just remembered when I was a kid that happened to my dad and his words where. "It is pigs so over build it". I thought I should share that advice as it seemed to work.
The Apple trees are doing good. It looks like we will get apples this year. But for some reason, the white peaches didn't produce much fruit, and they have been the strong performers in the past.
@@CountryViewAcres glad to hear your apple trees are doing great. Was asking about the apple tree in the pig pen. The pigs can look forward to what falls from the tree.
Our electric fence was so strong that it burn the grass wherever it touched. When we touched it you knew it. That is how we checked it , put a blade of grass on the wire and what form the shock.
Yea, I would like to know how strong a fence charger it has to be to burn the grass off. That would be handy when I have a lot of electric fence. Less Weed-eating.
@@CountryViewAcres don't know the amp but it was good for 1500 miles of 1 strand fence wire. It was an Australian company in the around 1970 , sure worked good we fenced 200 acres, plus the fields.
@@salmonhunter7414 Wow! 1500 mile. is huge. That is like 100 times farther more than the one I bought. I bet once an animal touched it, they learned their lesson quick.
I would get a hog trap and feed and water them in it. They will get used to it very quickly, once its market day they go in to eat and then you close the back side of the trap, use a winch and winch the trap into the back of the truck or trailer. Hogs are loaded. easy peasy japanesey.

Goats sure are curious. Nice pig pen.

BACK IN THE BUSH IS A GOOD PLACE FOR PIGS, THEY'LL CLEAN THE GROUND FRO YA AND PLENTY OF SHADE

that awesome you guys are definitely moving up on your farm
you need to think about digging a big water hole for them
They are making there own water hole. After we fill up their water bowl, we throw the extra water in their wallow.
lol yea I should of figure that well I guess they are one step ahead of y'all 😂😂😂😂
@@fernandobrown7386 The LAST thing a farmer needs to do is dig a hole for some pigs!
@@fancybrooks3156 yeah, their pretty efficient earth movers all on their own.😁
You can use your 4 wheeler or lawn tractor and pull a cattle panel to smooth your garden out if you decide to use pigs to till it...
Great names! Happy Pigs, tasty bacon.
Watching again!!!🙃🙃🙃. We pig up pigs this week. Wish us luck
Good luck. We really thought pigs was the easiest way to raise a lot if meat.
Country View Acres We raising a beef cow. Couldn’t beat a good deal 4 Yorkshire for $130.

Yea, I seem to be doing decent on my goals. But with Hot weather coming up, the Projects may slow. Maybe more fishing and relaxing instead.

If you put the water on a old pallet it will slow them down from making a wallow.
When using hog or cattle panels I attached the panels with UV resistant Zip Ties strong enough and easier than regular wire ties
that is big enuff room for them
Please, tell me you re-tied those cattle panel corners with something besides plastic zip ties.😲
What you doing with that old fuel barrel ??? I'll buy it from you to use as a stand up smoker !!
could you sell one quarter to cover the butcher fees. loving the videos

my wife thinks the name for our pigs will be "pork and loin"lol
If you want to eat them don't give them names that is all i say
That is why they are named after food. It helps remind us what their purpose is.
You are going to have a rough go at processing time.
By the time they are big enough to process, they may be fat and stinky. That should make it easier.
