One thing everyone glosses over: Even though Reagan was elected in 1980, he wasn't sworn in as President until January 20, 1981, meaning the start of the game (January 3rd, 1981) would have taken place when Jimmy Carter was in the last few days of his presidency. Reagan wouldn't have had the authorization to have the CIA find Qasim and Arash until January 20th.

Also, Green Light Teams were a real thing during the Cold War. The reason Eisenhower kept it classified was because the last thing he wanted was to have his NATO allies condemn his actions. Once it was declassified at the end of the Cold War, Germany demanded all US nuclear weapons in Germany be removed at once. Goes to show that when you are at war, you'll some questionable things.

I can only sense that they would probably softly shoehorn the whole of Operation Eagle Claw into Carter's decision to send Adler, Mason and Woods after some of the men involved with the Ayatollah Coup and try to get vengeance for the kidnapping of US citizens... All just prior to Reagan coming into office, the US winning the Olympics against the Soviet Union and the subsequent release of said political prisoners in Iran back to the US after quite some time in captivity.
Which would fit perfectly, as Carter did grow a pair (if even a little bit) to get aggressive with foreign relations because his soft demeanor and attitude was getting him nowhere in global affairs. Especially after inheriting the Johnston-Nixon-Ford Vietnam disaster and the subsequent disastrous withdrawal from Saigon in 75. America was really in no position to be determining any kind of foreign issues.
The greater issue was that of the Yom Kippur War (73- Israel vs Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt) which almost thrusted the Soviet Union and the United States into war themselves (as both had vested geopolitical interests in that immediate region), where cool heads and Israel's willingness to come to the table for peace talks, after obliterating and pasting the Arab Alliance, even going so far as to give the Jordanians back ownership of the Temple Mount, which is considered the holiest place for both Jew and Muslim, in the city of Jerusalem.
To say the least, Carter had to play his cards right to keep the US just barely in the game, and Reagan was able to capitalize on the momentary laxity in Carter's more peaceful global relations for a more aggressive, yet precise, means of ensuring US dominance in the Cold War and the Arms Race. Especially seeing Afghanistan as an opportunity to ruin the Soviet Union's supposed military prowess through funding the insurgency there. Which would subsequently bite the US in the ass by leaving it at the Soviet-Afghan War's end, which left an immense power vacuum between the Taliban (backed by Al Qaeda and Usama bin Laden) and the Northern Alliance, which was a collection of various Afghan tribes and leaders fighting for their very lives.

Perhaps one thing to keep in mind is that in the final mission, they enter Soviet territory with helicopters from an Aircraft Carrier, even if the helicopters make the outward journey without returning, that puts the ships 450 or 500 km from the coast entering in the correct base to attack being that they are few kilometers from Murksman where the northern fleet of the USSR is anchored. It was easier and more realistic to fall into an ambush with data supplied by an agent of doubtful loyalty than to do the mission on film. If the helicopters must return, it puts them at most about 250 km, the British fleet was detected at 200 km by Argentine radars that were older than those that the USSR should have in its bases or its ships in 1982. Putting people in a base in that way and using vehicles supplied by agents is already rare, it would seem more sensible to enter at night with less than 20 commandos in rubber boats from submarines, which was done in 1982 in Malvinas / Falkland by divers tacticians of the Argentine navy. good video I'm going to subscribe, I'd appreciate it if you read me.

Odd characterization for Mason & Woods.
If you make Bell former KGB during character creation, then talk to Lazaar before infiltrating KGB headquarters, he will point out Bell is former KGB and ask him/her if they have ever been inside. Then he'll quickly apologize and say he shouldn't have brought it up and says something about not bringing up past lives. Kind of pointing to the idea that Lazaar might know that Adler brainwashed Bell. And unless Mason & Woods were kept in the dark, it's kind of hard to imagine both of them not being upset with Adler given what happened with Mason in BO1.

I think the biggest sin that Activision and Call of Duty have achieved is taking genuinely interesting times and premises and making them as cookie cutter as possible. I like the idea of brainwashing a Cold War Russian agent to help fight battles or infiltrate the Kremlin, but only Activision and Ubisoft could make those boring and generic. But between those 2, at least Activision’s game’s don’t crash as much as Ubisoft’s.

The main reason why goons stay loyal can roughly be divided into two:
One, money. And adage says ‘Birds die for food while men die for wealth’. Pay a man enough and you can slaughter his family in front of him
Two, control of heart. One of the reasons the Nazis and Vietnamese were so fearsome as enemies was their dedication to their cause. Death was nothing to them but honor. Though some may question the leader’s actions, a lot would see the actions of the leader as some kind of wise act based of the systematic brainwashing they’ve undergone from their youth

fun fact: the final DLC Zombies map for Black Ops 4 collapsed the Call of Duty multiverse into a single universe, which now puts all of them, including the Zombies mode, into the same timeline. This is fine and honestly one of the more interesting parts of Call of Duty currently, but for whatever reason the cast of Modern Warfare got a whole new origin that brought in new characters, nations, and groups that interact with each other differently from the original timeline like Zakhaev dying before the events of 2019's Modern Warfare and his son (who originally died during COD4) taking his place, while Mason, Hudson, and Woods still went through the same events and played out the plot of Black Ops 1, with the only two major differences being that there's no reference to Woods being taken prisoner and later found in Angola and Mason never encountering Raul Menendez (although he is mentioned in the multiplayer).

    Some extra sins:
    - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the last CoD game that was able to not feel too short and not feel like it has too rushed ending
    - Even if Bell is black, female, or both, he sure can walk around Lubyanka in male Soviet uniform without turning everybody's heads.
    - Why do the developers go out of their way to not make this fault of Soviet Union? It doesn't really deserve defending. Why do they blame some rogue agent working without orders?
    - Why are the playable characters not voiced, even if they are outside of the playable parts? I would call that Fallout approach, if Fallout 4 didn't have fully voiced main characters.
    - Every time someone gets shot in a head from point-blank range with a handgun, either as a part of takedown or cutscene, a strange sound of choking on blood is played, even though the person dying has the throat intact.
    - Why did they send Mason and Woods to Yamantau, instead of Woods and Weaver, who were there and know the place? Also, Mason gets flashbacks because of a place he was never at.
    - The reason why the team is sent to Solovetsky Islands is to take care of 3 WW2 style anti-AA guns, which, even in large numbers and against WW2 bombers, couldn't protect most of European cities from being bombed to a ground. 3 of them against jet bombers would do absolute jackshit, considering they didn't do nothing against the EMP blast earlier.
    - this game could have been so much better if it just was 30% longer and concluded with Bell getting Perseus (or choosing not to, whathever), instead of teasing the sequel we all know will not be.

Storywise, you have the same "HE A TERRORIST" storybeats every other year when the game isn't ripping of "manchurian candidate" and hey, sometimes the plots are combined to be one noodly mess. All the while in Multiplayer, the game does not innovate at all and just releases the same arrangement of game modes with a different coat of paint - most of the time with the same unbalanced weapons - while sprinkling in the odd "innovation" like battle royale: A trend so far behind with the sole intention of hopping on a bandwagon that is so overcrowded I couldn't even be arsed to level any actual criticism against that one.

I dont care about a sequel to AW, but they definitely should revisit Ghosts (and do it right) since it ended the way it did.

Couldn’t Perseus have just detonated the nukes from Duga after his plans to detonate them in Slovetsky were stopped?

You should've sinned the fact that there was only one helmet and they all put on armor in the mission where you infiltrate the KGB headquarters.
