Luffy helped every single one of them in their worst moments but now that he needs equal support none of them can help him… He may be surrounded by allies but he isn’t surrounded by the friends he needs-he is in pain and alone.
What hurt me the most is not Ace death...but Luffy's cry of pain. Luffy's voice actor was spot on, the amount of broken in Luffy in full display. We never see the happy Luffy this in pain. Oda doesn't kill most of the time his characters, it's a waste of potential stories. But when he does, it shake's the world to another level !!

11:45 - 11:48 what’s crazy is that in the manga it wasn’t just his mustache that was hit but a big chunk of his face was blown of but they censored it when it was adapted to anime. But it further shows just how much of a beast Whitebeard truly was by keep on fighting with all his wounds. And by the end of the arc his gigachad level will make even this seem small, but you’ll see when you get there.

Fun fact: In the manga, Whitebeard didn't get his mustache burnt off by Akainu. He got half of his FACE burnt off, and kept fighting. Man's a god among chads.
first time i watched this i felt it was such a pivotal moment in the story. Whitebeard (Pops) was willing to go out in a blaze of fury for one of his 'sons', the son of the legendary Gol D. Roger and Ace ended up dying before him. Luffy has gone through hell twice, physically through Impel Down and through his temporary loss of his crew. to now lose his brother Ace right in front of his eyes... has to be the darkest moment of his life. was not surprised to believe that he would train afterward with all this in the back of his mind as "never again". and then to see the Blackbeard pirates arrive all fresh like scavengers. if ever there was a moment for an intermission, it would be soon after the conclusion of this war. iShinobi's genuine reaction to Whitebeard, Akainu, and Ace... more proof of the power of Oda's writing.
i think this was a good lesson for luffy and the audience to learn. as captain picard once said, "it is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. that's not a weakness. that's life". i think we as shonen fans got too use to everything working out if you work hard enough or using your will and faith in your friends to get things through or the tired trope of everyone magically coming back to life at the last second. not this time. luffy did everything right and ace still died. and remember when i said weeks ago that before he would see his friends again, luffy would experience hell? i didn't mean him going to impel down or being nearly poisoned to death. THIS is what i meant. this is luffy's hell.
I both love and hate this arc. The emotional roll coaster and pain Luffy goes to will always make me cry. The worst is not being able to tell others to get ready for the roll coaster due to spoilers
I was so hurt for luffy when ace died. That was something that I never thought would happen to him. After the backstory with Ace, it totally made sense why he did what he did. But even now, every time I watch this, I get so emotional. Whenever I watch even just a clip of this arc I remember Luffy, ace, dadan, sabo, and garp. They suffered a lot, specially luffy since it wasn't too long that he also lost his crew. And just like luffy, until now talking about Ace is still a hard pill to swallow

Watching Jack reminds me of when I read this chapter live and like him, and so many others, it broke me. After all that struggle and fighting, Luffy failed to save Ace. None of us thought Oda would do it, but like any good writer, he let us be lulled into a false sense of security with how 'loose' death was treated in the series. Whether that was entirely planned or not, it was well utilized to make this moment HIT. The minute Ace finished his last words, and collapsed with a smile from Luffy's grasp, and that gut-wrenching face Luffy made, nobody can keep it together, I sure as hell couldn't. My eyes still mist whenever I watch or read this moment.
Ace’s death wasn’t what made me cry. It just made me mad, Ace couldn’t handle a joke about his father when they easily could of escaped. What actually broke me was Luffy’s reaction. Had me crying throughout the entire episode and after it ended for some time aswell. Wb’s death on the other hand, made me cry like a baby. One of the biggest giga chads in all of anime and simply the goat. Made him one of my favourite characters of all time. After seeing Ace’s backstory later on after Marineford his decision made a lot more sense to me and i understood why he reacted the way he did. I just wish they showed it before marineford and not after. And to anyone saying that im spoiling him, he is already at the timeskip on patreon and he doesn’t read comments so there are no spoilers.

I feel like you need a hug bro just know that most of us are crying with you right now
Remember that Time when Jack wanted to meet Akainu??😂
Yeah, even I wanted to meet him when I watched it nd now I wish he died to whitebeards hands
@@alwandemthethwa7594That honestly would be boring if anything don't direct your anger at him this was always gonna happen because Oda wanted this to happen
@@jarvisfowlkes3200 yeah ur probably right, but he is the cruelest fleet admiral we've seen, granted we only know 2 but still sengoku was bearable
Welcome to our pain arc glad you made it to us
Underrated comment
I just have to ask, I don't know if you'll see this but I must ask.... *Do you believe it's worth the wait to know more about Akainu now Jack?*
Right? we finally hit the point of all hype around akainu dying a cold death
@@deruka7820 ya know that can be made a funny joke when you think bout it.
I can tell Roger and ace mom just were shaking their heads
@@gameuniverse5973Yeah it was a stupid decision by ace but after seeing his backstory later on it made a lot of sense as to why he reacted that way
Love that this wasn’t spoiled for you logia’s still take damage if you can damage the human part of them or overpower/counter thier element
When Garp said he would kill Akainu, believe me, he easily could.
?
@@user-letmecook garp > akainu no diff
@@yoru_shika Akainu is top 1
