Hey Guys- Part 6 of Making a Warwick Bass is here! Only days away from getting my JHB Signature Bass in my hands! Let me know what you think in the comments section below. All the Bass- Joe
Thanks for sharing this Joe. Its nice to hear the reasons for your production detail. Cant wait to hear it!
Wow, looks stunning Joe. Really looking forward to hearing you play it soon.
Heartfelt congrats Mr.Hubbard!
Thanks man!
look amazing!! can't wait to hear it with Mr. Hubbard playing it!!
Cheers!
Shipping out TODAY! Congratz Joe... fantastic looking bass. I really love the configuation you chose and the upgrades like the bridge, fretwire and extra routing. Can't wait to hear it! Thanks as always for the fantastic content.
Yeah baby!
Badass Bass Joe... I love the precision with which the guy working on it puts in. Gonna be great to hear it!!
Thanks Ajadrew!
WOW! The first Warwick with a Badass bridge! Very cool! Can't wait to see how this bass sounds!
I know!
This bass looks fantastic Joe! Flamed maple and black hardware is a great look 😎
Cheers Jonny!
Love everything on this bass. It's very traditional. How is the neck dive when playing sitting without a strap?
That looks really nice Joe. I’d like to try the really small frets.
The small frets are off the hook!
Awesome Bass Joe. Well deserved. Can’t wait to hear you play it. Any plans for Warwick to make this available for others to buy ?
Absolutely!
Super Doubles!!
Congratulations Joe! At least, we can see THE BASS! Georgous! I like the almost flat radius, and the maple fingerboard (my favourite). I was wondering: String spacing seems to be pretty wide. Is it 19mm or 20mm?
Thank you for your vidéos! All the Bass.
Thanks Pierre. The spacing is 19mm.
That is one beautiful bass that you and the Warwick team put together. The black hardware is a nice choice for contrast of the flamed maple top! Mandolin fret-wire used on the neck with Warwicks IFT process might almost feel like a fretless bass. I'm anxious to hear your feedback on that, as well as, wether or not you like the Warwick coated strings. #RockOn
I'll let you know!
Looks like a great instrument! Congratulations! I was wondering how you like this Warwick compared to your Fodera bass.
It's a lot better! With that said, the Fodera is a fantastic instrument and I really liked it too, but my Warwick Signature bass was designed with all the features that I wanted in an instrument. The JHB Bass is not a stock Warwick bass. This bass features design specific elements that I discussed in detail with Warwick. For me, it's the best bass I've ever played!
Gotcha! Thanks for replying! Warwick's custom stuff really looks incredible. Really enjoy your videos thanks for posting the great content for bass education and this series on the building of your bass!
You're welcome and thanks for your support!
I thought they quit making this model? This was always my favorite model. I went with a Streamer because I couldn't get a Fortress 5. Though the Streamer is quite nice. I've never met anyone that didn't like the Warwick tuners aimed at the player.
Yes, they did discontinue the Fortress, but I've brought it back as a new and improved version.
So, is Warwick now going to put them back on the market or do you have to custom order only? I really wish they would offer a model with 17.5 string spacing rather than 16.5.
Not too bad looking. Seems like you may have gone with the Pope Flexcore preamp like what was on your Fodera. With the Aguilar pickups, the Pope pre, and similar woods, I'd imagine it will sound a lot like the Fodera.
Not too bad??? I could think of a thousand different adjectives to describe the way this bass looks. Nope- not a Pope. Warwick has designed this preamp to my exact specifications.
Easy, Joe. I'm just saying that aesthetically it's not my favorite shape but I've seen worse. Not to mention that I remember when that shape came out there were a few jokes about how the upper horn had some phallic similarities;) It's cool that Warwick designed you a preamp though it certainly seems as though it was at least inspired by the Pope. Enjoy your signature bass!
Talk about joke designs- don't live in a glass house bro.
Lol, no idea what you're talking about. Joe, you're a great player and educator, but perhaps a touch too sensitive?
Awesome, if you're experience any problems with it, I'll swap bass with you;)
In your dreams :)
Looks lovely, so that means he fedora is in storage from next week :-)
You got it!
You can't say that the badass is the best designed bridge, when you're turning your back to the Warwick bridge which is a lot superior in design (changing strings is easier, 3d adjustable and so on). You might like this bridge better, I understand that, but it looks like a missed opportunity to get this bass to another level :/
At 5:54 I say, "This is in my opinion the best bass bridge that was ever designed." I think I can say that, but thank God for people like you policing the internet!!!
Joe Hubbard Bass Being aggressive when someone disagree with you, yup, that's definitely a better attitude...
What disagreement? You merely got called out for being a noob by coming on my channel and saying that I have no right to express my opinions. I merely pointed out that I think I have the right to express my opinions. Jeeeez!!!
It's obviously a disagreement about the way you're saying it. As somebody with a decent size audience, your words are important to some people. When you're talking about products, both related to brands, and comparing them design-wise, it could be interesting to explain why you're choosing one over the other. Saying that you have years and years of experience with basses is not a valid point when talking about design, your audience deserves to be informed a little bit better on the "why" when you use such words as "best bridge ever designed". It might be the best bridge for what you do, there might be reasons behind this taste, but the viewer deserves a little bit more details in order to understand such a weird choice (if we are still talking about design). By the way, don't get offended, when I say "weird" it's because you seem to design your instrument with a real focus on quality and flexibility, trying to making the best tool possible, while choosing a bridge giving you fewer options than the one commonly used on a fortress (btw, I don't know if you often play sitting down, but the lower horn of the fortress shape makes it quite uncomfortable, did you change something about that or were you fine with this body as it was ?)
Saying what? As I pointed out to you earlier, while talking about the bridge I said, "It is my opinion that this is the best designed bass bridge." You come on and say, "You can't say that the Badass is the best design." It is what I prefer to enhance the low mids in my sound along with greater sustain. You obviously like the standard Warwick bridge- good for you. I did say in the video that it was good if you like that sound, but that was not the sound I was going for. By the way, Warwick themselves agreed on this subject in relation to designing a bass that reflected my sound- that's why they call it the JHB Signature. Please understand, this bass won't be for everybody, but it has been carefully designed to meet my requirements in becoming an artist endorser for Warwick. Unlike many people, this bass will be the bass I will play. As to the design of the body, the lower horn fits perfectly on the right leg when sitting. You can see this at 09:19. There have been a few tweaks to the body as I have covered in other videos in this series.
