There is a gut wrenching article about his last days on-line from Rolling Stone. Mental health issues have robbed the world of so many. The work to try to crawl from the abyss often breaks these gentle souls before they can conquer it. Truly heartbreaking
As a lifetime fan and someone that understands on an intimate level, the demons or at least some that I know about, Chester's loss hit me harder than more than any celebrity. I hope he finally found the peace he couldn't find here. Luckily we have his legendary voice to keep his memory alive ❤
My favorite Linkin Park lyric is "Weep not for roads untraveled. Weep not for sights unseen. May your love never end. And if you need a friend there's a seat here alongside me." RIP Chester.
As an older person (my son shared this band with me) I was taken aback by how good they are. I've loved their music ever since. Chester Bennington definitely has/had a haunting voice. He is definitely missed. The band's lyrics were heartfelt. I appreciate the no swearing, too. I weep for Chester's family and friends. I hope they know he left such a legacy of emotions in his singing. I wish the remaining band members continued success in their future.
Chester has 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls [twins]). Mike Shinoda has 3 children Mike Shinoda has an alter ego named Fort Minor. Rob Bourdon is the youngest in the band. He started in the band at the age of 17 years old . Chester was the oldest in the band. Chester was the first one in the band to be married (10/31/1996 the date he married his first wife Samantha). Mike Shinoda got married in May of 2003. Mike removed his earrings in 2004. Chester had the vocal range to rival Freddie Mercury. Chester had the ability to mimic other singers like Jonathan Davis, Billy Idol, and Michael Jackson. Dave played the cello and violin on the Reanimation remix album. Joe Hahn directed a lot of Linkin Park music videos. Linkin Park worked with Jay Z (2004) and Busta Rhymes (2008).
I absolutely love Linkin Park and I really enjoyed jamming out to this song. This song is Awesome. I got so many emotions as I was listening to this song and I don't know how I feel honestly cuz I am all over the place on this one.
Chester's death was the biggest thing ever. It changed the world both being sad but also it brought about the change of people being able to talk about mental illness!
Being in my 60s, I never got into Linkin Park. My son however, was a big fan. Robin Williams was a shock. Mental Health issues have robbed us of so much talent. You may want to check out Otis Redding - Sitting on the Dock on the Bay. He talked about his depression in the song and was gone before the song hit.
Hurts just as much as the first time I heard it. I grew up with these guys and Chester passing the way he did and listening back to their songs…..right in the gut.
Such an emotionally moving song. I'm especially triggered by the line "but I'm tired" Its so short but impactful. You can hear Chester's voice crack a bit with a release emotional tension in that line. The line feels like he's saying I'v had enough. Which breaks my heart.
When I heard of Chester's death, it shredded me because I instantly recalled every lyric he wrote that expressed his inner pain. We all listened, but did we really hear? I had been avoiding this song because I knew it would bring back that feeling again. Watched it here because it felt like watching it with friends. Seeing it with the video immediately gave me chills. Thanks for doing this reaction so didn't have to watch it alone.
I am in my early 50's and the grit and emotion that Chester had in his singing resonated with me like very few singers could. Rest in peace brother. Just found your content Diane and appreciate your perspective.
I’m really glad that I was able to see them perform when I was a senior in high school. I’ll never forget the feeling I got when I was walking away from the show. Losing Chester was really hard on me and I still tear up when I get to listening sometimes. RIP Chester.
i still remember where i was and what i was doing the first time i heard 'faint' on the radio. my blown mind went and bought 'meteora' right away. first time i've heard this, awesome video and made me feel very nostalgic ... rest in peace Chester, you got me through some tough times
Linkin Park’s music is full of talented musicians. But the emotional voice of Chester just goes straight to your soul. Thanks Diane for sharing this! 💕
I'll say it, to me Linkin Park have reached a status of legends, such as MJ or Queen. It's just transcendent and transversal music that goes above what people love, everyone likes it at least. Hard for a band to get praise from all sectors of music listeners, and i reckon thats what a legend is...
Even though being gentle in this piece, whilst still harkening back to thier first album. Through observations of being into music for 3 decades. I have found that not many groups artistically can pull that off. Many love hearts for them. I will always appreciate them for digging deep every time ❤❤❤ P.S after seeing 3 music reaction video s from you. I have found to really appreciate that you do some info searches on each band to find out more. Many reactors that I have found pass on finding out on what bands had been through or what made them - them to be special to their fan base. P.S.S - Subscribed
Chester didn't hate "in the end" he just found it to easy as a single and commercial and would would probably prefer realise a single with a more heavy song like "by myself "for example.
They released a song on February 23, 2024 called Friendly Fire. It is a good song and a very emotional music video. Actually the band was started by Mike Shinoda and Mark Wakefield. Here is the Order they all started in the band Mike Shinoda Mark Wakefield (left in 1998 because of stage fright) Brad Delson (Mark Wakefield next door neighbor and was in a band together called The Pricks) Rob Bourdon (in a band with Brad and Mark called Relative Degegree) Dave (Phoenix) Farrell (went to University with Brad) (got the nickname Phoenix from his bandmates from the Snax) Joe Hahn (went to art school with Mike for a year) Chester Bennington (replaced Mark as the lead vocalist in March of 1999)
Chester's death was a devastating loss for those who understood the pain he was going through. His music lives on and it's so nice that we get to hear these unreleased recordings of excellent songs. Fighting Myself is another release you should check out that got released after Lost.
I can't believe I wasn't listening to Linkin Park from the start. I found them after learning that a bind I like, Icon For Hire, sited them as a major influence. Their sound and lyrics really can really hit me.
Linkin Park was one I listened to a lot. This song is one you could immediately tell was Linkin Park. Resonates with some of my story. Hours later and I've had "Numb" stuck in my head. 🙂
Agreed on everything shared in the video... My brother and I also listened to Linkin Park ever since we were quite young (Hybrid Theory is my favorite album). Listening to them still to this day brings a certain level of catharsis, but it can be very heavy. Great reaction video as always 💜
Really reminds me of their song NUMB . Not a bad thing , because I enjoy that song a lot . The message is different , somewhat , but a distinct connection . Like the sequel to an incomplete story . Reasonable in consideration of its release , and inclusion in the band's catalogue .
I am glad that this is a song you already knew! It's an opportunity for you to defend yourself against the others who blame you for not knowing songs that they knew when they were young.
I did a RUclips search for unreleased Linkin Park songs after Lost came out, and these are the ones that I liked that I hadn't heard before: What We Don't Know, Wish (a live Nine Inch Nails cover), and Asbestos (Minutes to Midnight demo). I also searched AI-generated Linkin Park songs on RUclips, and most of them were fakey-sounding, but the song Out of Ashes blew me away in how real (and how good) it sounded
I Didn’t know anything about Linkin Park before watching this video, when I was young, I totally judged their book by its cover. I liked this song more than I thought I would & I’d be interested in Diane featuring one of their songs that she loves & explain it a bit.
I’ve always known of this band, but never really got into their music. Knowing how he passed, this song was so powerful. It makes me so sad, even with all his fame, and fortune, He was unable to break free of his demons
This is one of those bands that I knew existed, but just never really listened to. The trivia about them was nice, and never knew that they felt the way I do about using curse words.
This is their second to last song now. They just released “Friendly Fire”. The video for that song has new footage of Chester live and in studio. If Meteora had been one song longer this would have been released but the band felt it had a feeling to similar to “Numb”.
Chester Bennington had a really beautiful voice, and he was both expressive and technically excellent. I guess it's not surprising that a really good song like Lost was kept in the vaults for so long. Creators, managers, and producers don't always know what the public will respond to. There are many examples of unexpected big hits, and alternatively, things that were expected to be hits that flopped. Swearing often feels to me like a failure of vocabulary. I think it's better to think about what you're trying to say, and choose the best word for the purpose. Sometimes it will be a swear word, but usually not. And if you do it too much, it loses its impact.
Exactly! I guess on a micro scale I can relate to that. The videos I think will be hits never are and the ones that hit home I thought we’re not very good 😆
😢 I've always found Linkin Park's music very relatable. He always had such a sweet sad voice. It's unfortunate that he couldn't get the help he needed.
Think about being a person that worked with him at Burger King all those years ago and be like I worked with a guy that became one of the biggest vocalist of his time
I heard the band liked the song when they made it they just felt it sounded too close to other songs on Meteora, specifically Numb. So they didn't put it on that album and were holding on to it to release later. But by the time they got to a point where they had a spot for it their sound had changed too much so it just kept getting kicked further and further down the road.
Hybrid Theory is still the best selling rock album of the 21st century and is the best selling debut album of any artist since Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction
Linkin Park is a band I had both heard of and heard their music occasionally and mostly liked it. This song I'd never heard, and I'd never seen the video. It's inventive semi anime style takes a good song to the next level. So, I get a formal introduction to this tune from Diane Jennings, who'd of thunk it was possible. Thanks Diane.
That’s great to hear! Their discography is fabulous. Structurally the music is brilliant, but Chester’s ability to convey emotion was really wants at them a part in my opinion!😊
hi Diane. Singers deaths that hit me hard were Freddie Mercury, George Michael, and Prince. celebrites were Robin Williams and Carrie Fisher. Carrie Fisher was really hard because her mom Debbie Reynolds died the next day. Heartbreaking. A song you should check out is Placebos "Running up that Hill". yes, their version of Kate Bush song.
Hi Diane. Happy Wednesday to you. My youngest brother Rob really enjoyed bands such as Linkin Park. They seem like they have a great sound to them. Looks like you had enjoyed this particular song from them. I have heard about Chester Bennington's passing which is like Robin Williams' passing to be very tragic and sad. Hope that you had enjoyed your trip to Chicago Diane. Btw, Robin Williams was from Chicago originally. Have a great rest of your week Diane. Be well. 👋😎🎊🎉
Thanks Diane! The pain and despair were palpable in this song. Almost a foreshadowing of what was to become 😢. My favourite burger has cheddar cheese and bacon on it. Mmmmm, bacon.
Seeing Chewie Standing Next to You looks like He is enjoying some Classic Linkin Park sounding Music. Give Him some Extra Treats, Teddys, and Cuddles for being such a Good Boy.
I have listened to Linkin Park too. This is my first time Hearing Linkin Parks song Lost also. The the animation on the video looks cool. Enjoying sharing the music Journey with You as Always. Thanks for making Wednesday Happy and Joyful.
I enjoyed learning with You what Linkin Parks New song is about and Linkin Park in general. You always teach me so much and enjoying watching and hearing Your voice while learning.
I highly recommend Wth>You which is a remix of With You. Personally it hits very close to home. Linkin Park has a whole remix album of Hybrid Theory called Reanimation.
Not my favorite genre of music but I enjoyed the song. I could tell it hit you differently compared to other bands you've reacted. Thank you for that, Diane.
At 1:40 Editor Diane, made me think to Check out the Band Great White. Great White has a song Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Try also listening to Great Whites songs Rock Me, and Save All Your Love.
here are some suggestions: Patti Smith because the Night Bette Midler's 1st - a cover of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy or her song The Rose Jefferson Airplane''s White Rabbit The Doors' Light My Fire, People are Strange, or Riders on the Storm some probably less suggested Bob Dylan songs: Isis; Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Heart's; Senor (Tales of Yanki Power); Serve Somebody The Beatles' Rocky Racoon (I think this Dylanesque) John Prine's Paradise Darrell Scot's You'll never Leave Harlan Alive Arlo Guthrie's "song" Alice's Restaurant (it's long) or his cover of Steve Goodman's Good Morning America Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon Nina Simone's I Put a Spell on You Etta James' What a Difference a Day Makes Linda Ronstadt - anything Lena Horne's Stormy Weather Do;;y Parton's I Will Always Love You (she wrote it) Patsy Cline's Crazy or just about anything else by her Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit (she had to pay to record this - her record company refused to pay for this song) Anything by Etta Jones, Pearl Bailey, Eartha Kitt; Vera Lynn; Jo Stafford; Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and so many more that I'm not go ing to list them
Ah, just grand, Irish Girl. It's sad how much music we've missed out on because of rock stars' penchant for tragic and premature endings. I think I'm beginning to realize how you've managed so well dealing with the inner struggles endemic to the human condition. Combating cognitive dissonance, Diane chooses Chewie & Chocolate while ED relies on Caffeine and the Blood of the Young! Must be the secret formula for the Fountain of Youth...
I had intended on buying the 20th anniversary album of Hybrid Theory, but forgot about it when it went on sale and it was already sold out. So I bought the full $200 limited edition of Metoria when it was released and later found the 3 vinyls of Hybrid Theory on Ebay brand new for $100 so I bought those too. So now I have Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Metoria on vinyl plus 3 extra vinyls that contain unreleased songs like this.
Wow! See I feel bad now when I say, I am a fan of their music. Nothing like that! I just really enjoy some of their songs. It’s really cool that you have those!
At 8:05 I learned Chester Bennington worked at Burger King. I like Burger King too. I could go for a Whopper, Chicken Nuggets, Crisp Fries, Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks and Hershey Pie.
I could be wrong on this, but I think Mike said they had written this song but he didn't realize the Chester had recorded his part for it when they were looking for bonus tracks for the 20 year release. So Mike recorded his part and mixed it last year for the release. Unlike Lost which they had finished and decided not to release because it was too similar in sound to Numb. When you were saying that you were going to watch a Linkin Park song post-mortem, I assumed you were going to react to Lost. I'm glad it is this song. I like this song a tiny bit more than Lost, and Lost is a lot sadder of a song and I don't want to see you cry that much.
@@DianeJennings normally the spambot waits a few hours or days before spamming a video. This is one of the first times I have seen it active in the first hour of a video.
Anime images in the video help illustrate the Emotional content of the song. The band started to really get going just after I became disabled in 2002, so while I recognize the song and Chester Bennington’s voice, they entered the scenes when I was dealing with incredible joy with the birth of our son and incredible pain from my spinal injury. They were also competing for my attention with Imagine Dragons whose drummer was the nephew of one of my lifelong friends. The two bands have similar sounds in many way and if you love Linkin Park you should listen to Imagine Dragons good I’m sorry I missed this song. It would have helped with my ongoing catharsis then. Great song, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Are you going to feature any Chicago Bands to match your Chicago touring videos? Saturday in the Park, or Dialogues 1 & 2 ?

@@DianeJennings They did a good job. alot of the concert is sectioned into songs
I highly recommend Wth>You which is a remix of With You. Personally it hits very close to home. Linkin Park has a whole remix album of Hybrid Theory called Reanimation.
Oddly enough as soon as you said “comment your favorite burger “ an ad for a chicken burger popped up
No waaaaaay! Hmmm… apparently Property? and finance videos get the best Audra Avenue. Maybe I should experiment with saying those words.
Not my favorite genre of music but I enjoyed the song. I could tell it hit you differently compared to other bands you've reacted. Thank you for that, Diane.
Thanks for giving it a go. Music is so diverse, it would be crazy if we all agreed what we loved.
At 1:40 Editor Diane, made me think to Check out the Band Great White. Great White has a song Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Try also listening to Great Whites songs Rock Me, and Save All Your Love.
Happy Weird Wednesday Diane! Why is Peter Pan always flying?
Because he Neverlands! Boop!
😂😂😂
Enjoyed watching You dance to the music video it made Me Happy. I danced to the music video too.
4:15 Diane’s clearly digging this, can’t blame her
It’s cold out today
here are some suggestions:
Patti Smith because the Night
Bette Midler's 1st - a cover of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy or her song The Rose
Jefferson Airplane''s White Rabbit
The Doors' Light My Fire, People are Strange, or Riders on the Storm
some probably less suggested Bob Dylan songs: Isis; Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Heart's; Senor (Tales of Yanki Power); Serve Somebody
The Beatles' Rocky Racoon (I think this Dylanesque)
John Prine's Paradise
Darrell Scot's You'll never Leave Harlan Alive
Arlo Guthrie's "song" Alice's Restaurant (it's long) or his cover of Steve Goodman's Good Morning America
Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon
Nina Simone's I Put a Spell on You
Etta James' What a Difference a Day Makes
Linda Ronstadt - anything
Lena Horne's Stormy Weather
Do;;y Parton's I Will Always Love You (she wrote it)
Patsy Cline's Crazy or just about anything else by her
Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit (she had to pay to record this - her record company refused to pay for this song)
Anything by Etta Jones, Pearl Bailey, Eartha Kitt; Vera Lynn; Jo Stafford; Dinah
Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and so many more that I'm not go ing to list them
2:13 fun concept for the video
6:23 yes, way to make social media feel like I’m at work Linkt in
Good job Ms. DJ! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Craig! Hope your week is going OK
Good impression of Green Day.
1:26 whaddya know, I’m viewing this early, the system works🎉
It does 🤩
Next you have to check out Friendly Fire they just released that was part of the One More Light album I think his last song.
Oh, and I always find Editor Diane extremely charming despite her hematophagy.
Great word 😂
Great but haunting tune
Posting to suppprt Diane and ED. Rock on.
this song would have been a banger back then, at least to me
Ah, just grand, Irish Girl.
Haha must be! The inner struggle is carefully balanced 😜
I could go for a Whopper, Chicken Nuggets, Crisp Fries, Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks and Hershey Pie.
fave burger ?
tri tip /ribeye done medium on the grill with ghost pepper jack cheese, onion rings, and bacon jam, on a butterd n grilled pretzel bun
Happy Weird Wednesday. I really love this video.
Yay, thank you!
wow, I love this song
It’s really good! Listening to it on full blast now
I like LP.
I like this song a tiny bit more than Lost, and Lost is a lot sadder of a song and I don't want to see you cry that much.
wait, the title says Fighting Myself, but then you say Lost in the video... Now I'm not sure which video you are watching.
Okay, it is Lost, you might change the title.
Thanks I caught it before it went public. Wow! A telegram spambot got to you before I did. 😮
The two bands have similar sounds in many way and if you love Linkin Park you should listen to Imagine Dragons good
I’m sorry I missed this song. It would have helped with my ongoing catharsis then.
Great song, thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Are you going to feature any Chicago Bands to match your Chicago touring videos?
Saturday in the Park, or Dialogues 1 & 2 ?
I mean to mention particularly the Anime eyes!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure i will
@@DianeJennings Fantastic!
I never got into Linkin Park, but will have to give them a listen now. Favorite burger is a double cheeseburger with bacon and grilled onions. 😊
Hope you enjoy!
