The news on C Williams is that he has passed his physical and so he should be participating in practices pretty soon. This is a huge boost to the Ryan Grubb offense if he can continue on where he left off.
Coach Macdonald said the other day that the front 5 on the o-line hadn't been settled yet and that the center battle was an open battle between Olu and Nick Harris, so I don't think he'd been carving out that starter role as much as the coaching staff was hoping he would. I'd imagine they got Williams to play at the center spot, but I know he can play guard as well so having that extra versatility should lead to the best 5 starters come game 1.

Olu is not in William's league. He has plenty of upside, but let's get real. Williams is rated by PFF as the second-best center in the NFL, and the 3trd rated Guard when he was playing that position in Dallas.
This is a very significant signing. This gives Seattle at least a top 5 O-line. If he shows he's the same player, they'll (Seahawks) will extend him to a long -term deal before the season ends. Great signing.

I’m a huge Seahawks fan but there’s no way our O-line is top 5. We still have too many holes in our O-line but this was a huge upgrade and signing for us though.
Daaamn. Didn't know he was that highly rated. I'd relax on the "top 5" hype though. One tackle regressed and the other can't stay healthy. On paper it does look good though

I don’t know what to make of Olu. I was ready to watch him work this year, hoping for an o-line bright spot. I don’t think he’s held in the same regard around here, as he is with you. Can’t knock having depth tho.
Shoutout from Montana… This signing seems legit for the Foundation Seattle is creating this year. I believe the line will provide protection Geno hasn’t had in his career. We could see Geno have 30+ TD and 4K passing yards 12 wins…. Hopefully 🙏 😂

The 2013/14 Seahawks teams were stacked on the d line and had a nasty o line to go with it. The game is won or lost here. Hopeful, but I see people in the Seattle area wearing Ravens gear and ask them if they're excited about McDonald and they all look at me like I'm crazy. Not sure what to make of that, but going from the oldest coach in the league to the youngest is awesome as far as I'm concerned and Seattle is stacked at WR, RB, and DB. Need Grubb's O to be marginally better than last year and the D-line to step up, but things are looking up here.
My first game was a ravens vs Seattle 2 season ago and the stadium was packed with ravens fans lol Seattle is full of em
Mike Macdonald got a good record. Saved Michigan from losing seasons the instant Mike was brought in as DC. Then went back to the ravens as DC and made previously average players look like hofs and when he signed with Seattle it seemed all the ravens players were appreciative of Macdonald and wished him well.

@@JG-ne1sd Totally thinking of that era 2012-2014, as a model. But I’m hoping that we have a far better offense performance to last year. I’m sure we’ll be uneven at times, new offensive scheme, new defensive scheme, radical changes to kickoffs and all. I’m visualizing significant growth. Dynamic, in-game corrections. The Grubb - Scott Huff continuity carries over and dials this line in. Our coaching is vastly improved.

Hey Murph, Thanks for the video on Connor. Like you said, if his knee is healthy and stands up to a year of contact, this could be a real special addition to the OLine. It is kinda weird how Olu had all the college awards while at Michigan, but has never really had a 'wow effect' on the OLine. I am also a little nervous that now that the Hawks are practicing in pads, that I'm not hearing any big BUZZ about Christian Haynes. I think they have been playing him at LG (they might not be thrilled with Tomlinson at LG?). Haynes spent his 4 college years at RG. Really hope he nails down a starting RG position and that Tomlinson has one 'last hurrah' in him at LG. Thanks again for the video. Go Hawks!
Olu was a rookie a last season, bro, playing behind a veteran starter who they signed to start. By saying he hasn't had a "wow effect" on an OL based on literally one rookie season is a bit forward, bro.
@@TopBillinSports Murph, in general, yes it's often tough for a rookie to earn a starting center spot. But when he couldn't beat out Evan Brown, I got a little nervous/suspicious. Now that they signed Connor Williams I fear Olu is destined to play backup again this year. Great Michigan background. But I stand by saying he has yet to 'wow' last year's OC or Grubb/Huff this year. Just hope Connor's knee holds up (ouch bad Karma for me to say that, minus 1).

The biggest thing I’m starting to wonder here is who ends up in the starting lineup at guard. At this point you have Laken Tomlinson, Anthony Bradford, Christian Haynes, and Maybe Connor Williams available for the 2 guard spots. If Williams plays at Center, does it make sense for a team to have 3 centers on roster? We’ve also got a Rookie in Sataoa Laumea in the mix at guard as well. Interesting problem to have at interior OLine. Cross is obviously the man on the outside and if Abe Lucas can get and stay healthy this could be a very good unit with decent depth too. Got George Fant back in the mix at backup tackle and Mike Jerrell, the rookie who I’ve heard mentioned a few times the last few week from the local coverage out here. Cant wait for this Saturday to finally see some play on the field

I like Olu too. But he’s played limited snaps. Connor is top 5 anywhere on the interior. Upgrade and road grade!
What this shows me is that Olu isn’t ready yet IMO I think they’ll start Olu next year after fully developing him this year under the new OL coach 💯

Murf, is this a nail in the coffin for Olu? I've been high on that kid for a couple years and it's not just one regime that looks like they're keeping him out of the starting lineup. I thought he played well when he was in last year, but maybe I'm missing something in his line calls or physicality? I'd love to see you do a video sometime later maybe exploring what's going on to keep him out of the lineup.
They signed a veteran in Evan Brown to be a starter, so I don't count that. This one is a little different. However, we don't know the specifics, so let's just let it unfold before we throw dirt on the kid. As for doing something on Olu, I'm going to refrain from jumping on you for not watching my content because it's the new version of me (slightly). I already did something on Olu. You want me to invent reps he didn't play? I covered when he played and did the studies on them, bro. At least acknowledge that or perform a search, please. Thank you.

I always felt you have really good football instincts when it comes to evaluating players, so your insight into what's keeping him out of the starting lineup would be very interesting to hear.

@@brianblank9921 - Brian, my thoughts on Olu are on that video and others where I mention him. I feel as though he should be the starter, but I'm also not the coach, owner, or GM. My eval is my own; what they think or see is their own personal analysis, too. I don't see anything abnormal that prevents him from being in the lineup, and I stand by that regardless of the outcome.

I'd love to know your thoughts on bringing in Leslie Frazier? He's a man who's been everywhere and seen everything... so I guess that since we have rookies at HC, OC, and DC all at the same timu, he's just trying to manage the zoo. But I don't really know
Coach Frazier is a great asset to have for a young coaching staff. The familiarity is already there with Macdonald, so I like the idea of him being a sounding board.

I don’t think the hawks ever really entered a full blown rebuild. We kinda just went to a mid status to retool for a couple years. And it even in a tough division we’ve been doing well and gotten stacked with talent. Time to turn that talent to skill and results

Olu must not have impressed Mike / Grubb so far in camp and they went out and got a top interior lineman free-agent, Happy they got their man and hope the knee is fully healed. Thought Olu was going to step up this year, let's see what happens for the rest of camp and pre-season. Williams looks quick on his feet and can block in space. I bet Geno is happy with the signing, instead of Evan Brown getting pushed into his lap on every dropback.

As much as i like Olu I think Connor will be the better choice at center. I would really like to see Haynes at L guard. Olu is awesome in the pass pro but he lacks the athletic ability to get to the second lvl. I wonder however if that can be taught and worked on or if it is more of a natural ability? Irregardless I think Olu can find a home and success in the NFL he is very smart and a bulldog in the box.I am really starting to get excited by K-9 prospects of getting loose alot more often.
Honestly I have no idea what’s going on with Olu. There was a rumor about his strength not being up to par. Glad for the signing in what looks like a sure guy at C though- gonna be a nice change of pace from the last 8 years.
