Try KFC, more surprise.
Burger market in China is dominated by 4 brands, Mcdonald's, KFC, Tastien(塔斯汀) and walace(华莱士), Tastien gained popularity last year for its own "Chinese Burger", I found it quite appealing. Go check it out~
1:25 actually it is "McChicken" in Chinese, its "Mai Xiang Ji" if translated literally it does mean "Wheat flagrant Chicken" but in this case the "Mai" was intended as a tonal analogue to "Mc", a lot of items in Chinese McDonalds starts with the word "Mai" "McDonald's" in Chinese is "Mai dang lao"
3:00 the packaging keeps it crisp as it allows the steam to escape instead of making the fries soggy.
Hamburger is Chinese is HanBao, it's a transliteration and a direct translation. The word Bao means a Fort and so is burg in German. Hamburg = Fort of Hamma
For those wondering why the Chinese name for various burgers literally translates to forts and castles. The term "hamburger" was derived from the city of Hamburg in Germany, for which the -burg part means castle in German.
要笑死了!我还想说哪有什么城堡什么的…原来是汉堡的堡啊😂😂😂
You are partly right "Hamburger" came from the city Hamburg, I just googled it. 😅😂
haha,“汉堡““HanBao”,is “hambur”.
Its actually a loan word that literally used chinese words that sounded like the original english words😅
Most foreign words in Chinese(at least in the mainland) were translated into something that can represent the original meanings insted of a dirsct transliteration, like "microwave" in Chinses is 微波炉 which means "micro wave stove", but Hamburgr is definitely a loan word that is directly translated by the sound instead of the meaning
But is does kind of make since lots of city names that have the -burg ending like Pittsburgh were all translated to "...堡"
The best complimental word for dessert in China is" This dessert is not that sweet."
Real Chinese desserts are actually more likely to be "not sweet" insted of "too sweet", I wouldn't consider cakes and muffins as "Chinese desserts"
Hahahaha, so true.
McDonald's gave you both how much money to do this advertisement, and I KFC gave double😂
這個梗老外估計抓不住。
they mean the same thing as in English@@yfexl-1584
n这个梗可以翻译的更好一点
这机翻😂
你真是个天才
Desserts in China or East Asia in general aren't that sweet is because we don't like our desserts to be overly sweet like those in America. A hint of sweetness is all we need.
I think the best burger in Chinese McDonald is the Grilled Chicken Burger, try it.
Spicy Chicken Burger is decent.
It's definitely my favourite from the Chinese McDonald's. I think if you look at its English name you'd think it's some kind of bland, white meat patty, but it's actually a very flavourful BBQ grilled chicken burger!
不能同意更多。
True
The package of French fries should be opened from the middle
This was the cutest episode yet! Your super adorable personalities really shined through🥳🥳🥳 keep it up banana biscuits!
Haha there are some misunderstandings in the translation
Wheat flavor: The transliteration of McDonald to Chinese is 麦当劳, and 麦 corresponds to the Mc part of McDonald. And just like McDonalds in the US, where everything starts with Mc, like McSomething, in China everything starts with 麦, like 麦something. The character 麦 means wheat, so that's why you may see something wheat-related from the translation.
Forts and Castles: The transliteration of Hamburger to Chinese is 汉堡. The 堡 corresponds to burger, and the character 堡 means fort/castle.
Can only say the translation app is not the best😅
Burger is translated to 汉堡,in which 堡 is the castle.
Hamburg the -burg means castle or fortress.
@@HotPromptHub
The one with german sausage, when Isaac peeled the bun off, I thought those were pickles. I was like - full pickles on a hamburger? 🤯 But it's sausage. hahaha!
American desserts are much sweeter than Chinese ones. We, Chinese, just cannot stand it. For example, pancakes with syrup, I felt fine with the first pancake, then the second pancake started to make me sick and made me want to throw up because of the sweetness. You can try KFC next time that is more popular in China than McDonald.
中国人对甜点最大的赞誉就是这个甜点不那么甜。
没错,加糖谁不会。甜的恰到好处才是真的好吃@@Deanissun
In Singapore, we also have McDonald's pancakes with syrup. But the key is not to drown all pancakes with all the syrup given. Just pour a bit on one whenever you are about to eat one, to your taste. The pancakes itself have little flavour.
@@s._3560Singaporean here. I always eat the pancakes on its own. Not a fan of “savoury n sweet”.
I love the Hotcake with sausage and scrambled egg but cannot have this combo in China
Good one, especially the last comments about US and China. Don’t be fooled by major media. Better see thing in real🎉
I just had Taco Bell in Shenzhen yesterday. Last time I had them was exactly 20 years ago in US.
If i were u, i will keep all these Mac boxes from different countries as souvenirs after cleaning it.
That German sausage burger's Chinese name means “The king of non-vegetarian”
霸in chinese not only mean bully but also mean lord/king/
McDonald’s Greater China franchise holder is STATE-OWNED CONGLOMERATE CITIC GROUP.
A diversified company involved in various industries such as banking, real estate and property development, iron and steel (CITIC Special Steel), machinery and equipment manufacturing (CITIC Heavy Industries), communications (AsiaSat and CITIC Communications), logistics and capital investment.
They have been in the mainland since the 1990s.
*Greater China = mainland China, Taiwan, HK and Macao
'we're all going to get diabetes from McDonald's? ' haha, I like you guys.
You should go to KFC in China. KFC in China is completely better than KFC in the United States. That's why you can see KFC everywhere in China. They even have Chinese-style food in KFC.🎉
Sodas taste different in the USA, mainly because of the usage of "corn sirup" - Other countries just don't have that!
Thanks for your Video. Very entertaining.
you should try the taro pie
You guys should try the bootleg McDonalds too.
The German Sausage burger is really good, I really like it
no local fast food competitors? that's what i'd try. i suppose China must have local burger fastfood joints since Vietnam and SKor do, too
Yes, The local burger chains in China have two brands. One is Wallace (华莱士), super cheaper bargain. Could you even believe that one burger with one bottle of coke only cost 1.5 usd ? Another named Tastien (塔斯汀), feautred with handmade burger. They handmade burgerbuns and roast meat on site to make sure fresh flavor. The cost closely McDonald.
居然不点板烧鸡腿堡🥺
Hi! I was a bit confused watching the beginning of the video. But I think the McChicken has nothing to do with "wheat" because McDonald's is literally called "麦当劳(Mài Dāng Láo)" in Chinese and the first character 麦(Mài) has the meaning of wheat. So your wheat chicken is actually McDonald's chicken.
Yes, "麦当劳'' is just a transliteration by sound of the word ''McDonalds''.
McChicken in Chinese is 麥香雞, the translator won't be able to get that nuance that the Mai is a tonal standin for "Mc"
@@TheJadedSkeptic blame the translator. GPT handled it well.
Oh this channel has Mcdonalds commercials, congrats !!
2:38 hello father 😂
A Big Mac combo here (LA) is $20 after tax, lol.
K & M are considered formal meals 20 years ago in China, but not today. Now they are just normal junk food. They are cheaper than most Chinese restaurants.
You don't open the fries from the side flaps 😂 there's a tear up flap in the middle
A Brit having lived in Singapore...the 'detergent' flavour is winter melon. A fun and fair video guys...well done
You two are funny. Anyway….
I call that understanding. The fast food chains adapted to the local tastes, and allow the local franchisees to have their own localized menus. That works best for the business and the local people. Keep their brand name products, but allow to add localized menu for local businesses. Unlike the western politicians keep forcing other countries to do “exactly the same” way that they do. They ignore the culture differences, there is no such thing as one single system fits all. China has China specific socialism, and now China has its own Chinese specific fast food menus. The systems are made for people, people are not exit for any specific system (not limited to political nor food menu system). Systems should be created for the benefits of the people, so the people can enjoy their lives and living better. Enjoy more of the localized food. I missed the time when I am in China, so easy to find good food to eat.
Have you been to KFC China, get the fried chicken feet. Also go local cuisine and you get chicken, duck, goose webbs, duck tongue, etc. Do video on those.
Even the package is better😮😮😮
Thanks!
Thank you!!
If you go to China again, I highly recommend to try KFC in China!!! It’s way different than West Countries. They have lots of “China Special”, you will love it!!
We have that pineapple in a burger in ph too. Jollibee calls it Aloha Hamburger.
Funny, the reason why the word castle showed many time is the chinese word for hamburger is a transliteration word. Chinese word for castle sounds like the burger word.
Usually have them with potato sause in china
the shrimp version is definitely the wildest combo
Yes, this is why first come to canada, and US's Macdonald and KFC I got shock. In China Macdonald and KFC is celebrating place to eat tasty food and get a toy.
Castle means 城堡 in chinese, that's why the translator translate 堡 to Castle.😂
Wish you got that 板烧鸡腿堡, classic and unbelievably good fam trust!
you really should try"麦辣鸡翅“
Thanks for the lovely vlogs on China its beautiful not what I expected at all its so clean no people begging or sleeping on the streets they won't allow it
China is a socialist country which means everyone from the poor village has a piece of land and a house to live, they can't sell the land even if they want to but they can rent the land. So why sleep in the street if you have a house and a land to plow in your village.
McDonald in the Bay Area is pretty expensive! We spent like $40 on breakfast for family of four two years ago.
I'm just curious. Is your trip meant to be a trip of culinary delights? I'm sure there are quite a few natural landscapes of Guangzhou that can be explored but I see none so far.
Cheers for sharing mates, get a tour guy to show you around next time tho heaps ppl would’ve done that for free
What is next? Burger king or KFC?
Just replace the castles and forts with hamburger and you'll get a pretty close translation, because the Chinese character 堡 can mean both🤣
McDonald's and KFC in China launch limited products every quarter, some are great and some are terrible. For example, "golden crab" filled with crab meat in the crab shell; black sesame-flavored or cherry blossom-flavored ice cream. I miss "Golden Crab"🥲
I miss 麦乐酷
It's Angus beef MAX burger.
Fancy packaging, tasteless patties, just hype.
love ur last comments, we are all the same. welcome to China, bro
In China,M is the last food I want to dry, Because I don't like I have pimple 😅
Since McDonald's is translate into chinese is "麦当劳“ phonetically, so according to chinese habit, most of their products has "麦” as surname. that will be translated as wheat
When you come to China, you must try stinky tofu and snail noodles.
Or douzhi in Beijing, something not only 99% Chinese can't accept, I think 99% of Beijingers dare not try🤣🤣🤣
"Red bean" is a direct transliteration from Chinese. It's actaully azuki bean. The package says red bean 年糕 (rice cake). So, the white stuff inside could be rice cake.
Hamburger in chinese is 漢堡飽. And the short version becomes just "堡", which alone also means "castle". But hea, at least they are good taste.
The thing is, McDonald's in China doesn't belong to McDonald global....It was spun off to operate independently. The biggest share holder should be a local company called CITIC CAPITAL. And the company's name is Jin Gong Men---translated back to English should be Golden Arch. The company has the right to use the brand name.
wow it's pity that you guys didn’t get the spicy chicken burger and the spicy chicken wings😂that’s really our favorite things of McDonald’s
And I promise you can’t get similar favor outside the mainland China. It’s unique😊
We got a lot of potassium in our body. So, yes, banana.
First of all, McDonald's in China is not expensive. About 35rmb, you can buy a four-piece set including hamburger and coke (choose one for chicken nuggets/ chicken wings) fries, because McDonald's members have a permanent 40% discount, no one will buy so much fast food at the original price of 200rmb, and you spent 200rmb. It's because you bought at least 3 people and didn't use the membership price... It's common to eat more than 200 yuan in Chinese restaurants. I also like McDonald's, but I hate foreigners comparing their country's fast food to Chinese luxury. A better Chinese restaurant eats 6-800rmb a meal. It's normal. There are also better Chinese restaurants with 5000+rmb, which are much more expensive than many
Michelin. How can McDonald's be called expensive? Fast food is fast food.
😂😂interesting text !KFC in China is special!
I can almost guess a KFC video next, and it would be an even bigger difference, let's say, my kids hate KFC in Canada, but said KFC food taste not bad in China. But still, their chicken makes me feel a bit sick all the time
Sorry guys for too pro China get this US warning - you're no longer at the table, you'll probably be on the menu 😂
😂 Yeah, they're on the menu, for sure!
Better than USA food? That’s easy. lol
Love the show!!!
❤❤❤
堡 (bao3)-->burger, NOT "castle" in this context.
McDonald's in the USA is expensive too but not luxurious.
😄😄fun
you guys should must go to try the breakfast menu of KFC in China.
Did you guys skip your Japan vlogs?
They are coming later this year haha
I could ask for more ketchup
麥當勞! ❤Interesting Mc D menu in China. Based on the look and your reaction I think I would also like those fries 2:43 haha I'm loving the unique and cool packaging of the items. Very epic
Keep Going Biscuits BOIS, Let’s Goooo ✌️👍👍👍👍💕🙏💪🇺🇸
Mcdonald's quit Chinese market long time ago, it is actually Golden Arches in China runs Mcdonald's business, a local company😂
FYI~~"wheat" pronounces "Mac" in Chinese
Some countries make foreign food more expensive to discourage locals of buying it and patronize the local food. Which i think is good, besides, local food specifically in Asia are more nutritious.
You opened the fries wrong. There's an opening at the top.
it's not fort, 堡 is the second character of the word 汉堡 which literally means burger……
错过了麦乐酷~
You two are so cute
Most Americans would drench their pancakes with syrup. Very sweet tooth.
👍👍🤩🤩😍😍
in Chinese burger and castle are the same character, that's why there is a lot of castle in the name, bad translation app
Try KFC bro
The entitiy name of McDonald in China literary is "Golden Arch"
2:06 the box is supposed to be opened this way
Uh... No it's not. Have you been opening them wrong all your life? There's a flap in the middle that tears up. You can very clearly see it in the video even if you've never eaten them before. Fail
Bisous de Paris, des américains curieux c'est rare !
ok you have to do KFC now lul
Yep, that's what travelling could sometimes do to a person; it tend make him or her less ignorant, God willing, hehehe.
Americans dun eat red beans??? OR mung bean???
Don't miss KFC in China. Way different from any other countries' KFC.
One of the worse McDonald's I ate was in China. The buns were soggy and the whole thing tasted like nothing.
wheat is mai, chinese transliteration of "mc". everything starts with mai in mcd.
HahahA..not just McDonald...😅
麦当劳算不算你们家乡的食物,虽然麦当劳的连锁店遍布全球🤣
Do the durian or chocolate & marshmallow pizza from Dominos next, PLEASE!
😂😂😂
