This is why Luffy is my favorite character, cuz when I think of most of the strawhats and how much pain they went through until they met luffy it hurts, Robin running and hiding alone , chopper all alone ,nami struggling ,brook in the lonely darkness and Sanji crying in his cell 😢 until a boy with a strawhat gave them happiness they longed for and when I think of how guilty they felt about Marineford it pains me , I love how luffy changes the world instead of being changed by it even if some people just see him as a flat and underdeveloped character
Ussop was left and had to suffer losing his own kind mother. He lied and his habit of lying is what it is. Because it kept the harsh loneliness he had inside away. Till the crew, luffy arrived. Seems honestly everyone of the straw hats one way or another. Have a reason and strong ones to call it a home.
Its pretty ironic that luffy was the one to bring together all the crew. Luffy had a good past, with good memories and a good family. While the rest of the crew had sad and tragic pasts. But then, it was luffy's turn to experience sadness with Ace's death.

i wouldn't call Luffys past good, he lost Sabo (yes we know he's alive now but for Luffy he had died). He did have Ace which made it all better, but ppl forget that just bc Luffy is cheerful and leaves sad things behind him doesn't mean he didn't also go through a lot of shit yknow. He was pretty much abandoned by his entire family and all the things Ace, Sabo and Luffy went through in their year or so together were pretty horrifying too if u ask me
luffy had a rough childhood that any normal kid would despise lol abandoned by his parents neglected bt his grandfather and abused by Dadan. even Ace mistreated him

I like this. It kinda shows how far Luffy would go for his crew and how he took his time to save each and every one of them. How he stayed by them, even if they betrayed him, or stopped believing. How he believed when they couldn't anymore. How he gives them hope, love, faith. It's so wonderful how good a captain Luffy is and can be. How his name should be feared by many but adored by others. He's just Luffy. And you know what? It's just so...lovely.

I really can’t comprehend how people can hate on one piece the world building is so good along with the characters who all have a well fleshed out back story and character development. People think one piece is childish, well it has comedy and silliness at times but the serious moments are executed so well. Just a small rant but I just had to say it
