What a beautiful place to explore and draw, so different to my area right by the sea in mild Cornwall. We still get wild winds but hardly any snow. Wonderful opportunity to be an artist in residence, thanks for sharing your behind the scenes journey look forward to seeing more. Mel
Hi Mel! Thank you for the note, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I live up near Seattle in WA, and we get snow very rarely here, too. So it was a really cool experience to get to paint in the snow that many days (and very cold!).
Hi Sarah!! Thank you so much for the kind note! I really appreciate it. I'm pretty new to RUclips, so it is exciting to find other awesome artists here like yourself. Subscribed, and love your sketchbook videos!
Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement! I have been slow to post new videos here over the summer because my focus was on hiking as much as possible (and filming my Adventure Art Academy watercolor lessons), but I have SO many ideas for new videos to share here, and I can't wait to work on them soon.
Great video! Get the gin out, that is hilarious! I used rubbing alcohol, but now I have a reason to get Gin. I didn't even realize they had artist in residence there, that is amazing. Crater Lake is incredible, I need to go back.
Gin or rubbing alcohol. I see the drinkable benefit of the gin but is there an artistic one. I’m new to watercolor and a Deep South girl to boot so it’s a legit question.
What a wonderful experience! I was in Iceland in early December and had the opportunity to paint a mountain range while standing on a glacier, and I, too, ran into the issue of my paint freezing, and wishing I had some gin with me! I managed to get something done before it became prohibitive. But anyway, I really appreciate seeing what a National Park residency is like! Looking forward to Part 2!
Thank you so much for the note, Mary! How amazing that you got to paint in Iceland, wow!! So far I've found that any kind of alcohol works, and it's especially handy to add to water brushes! I look forward to sharing Part 2 when it is ready, hopefully in the next week or so! Thank you for following along :)
Thank you so much Max! Means a lot coming from such a talented videographer! And you should definitely apply! Crater Lake was such a wonderful place to go.

@@artofhiking thank you! I love painting outside too, but not often in the snow!
I've played in the snow up there as late as late June! What a beautiful scene and beautiful paintings.
The snow can last so long!! It was so so beautiful to experience it.
What a wonderful video! I'm brand new to your channel, and enjoying your adventures/ watercolor painting so much!

Thanks for the note!! I want to go back to Crater lake, too! Especially to see it in a different time of year, it would be so interesting!
