I bought the 2020 LS Spark with zero options for $11,400 and LOVE IT. Exactly as the reviewer said, I was looking at buying a used car for my everyday simple commuting and buying this brand new Spark made way more sense than buying a 60000-100000k car for more money.
@@l_tonz The ride is actually quite comfortable. I own a Cadillac and a Mercedes also, of course it's not that good, but I have owned a lot of economy cars in my life so comparing to that, it's better than any of those I have owned. As for power, it has 90 hp so it's adequate for it's size. I own the 5 speed so I think it has a little more than what the automatic would have. The tires will spin easily on take off lol, so it's not bad. I have owned this car for 5 months now, I love it, great and fun little car. Crazy fuel economy, I have gotten 4.9 lt/100 on the highway, driving 100 kph. My average city/highway is 5.8 lt/100.
I rented one of these yesterday and was really surprised at how good it is. Other brands didn’t feel good as this. I really thought it was new before I looked at the Odometer that showed 48,800 miles. Solid and good at 75 and really good gas mileage.
I got one just for the manual transmission. I have good memories of my first sporty ride, a 1983 VW Rabbit GTi. This is a much better car - better body rigidity, more supple yet firm suspension, better tires (yes, better than the '83 Pirelli P6's), more (actual) horsepower, much better gas mileage (44.5 MPG mostly highway vs 28 MPG or so with the '83 GTi). Much quieter. To get the 5 speed I went with the LS which mean simpler windows and mirrors. The only problem? The huge growth in size of other vehicles on the road. In 1983 people were mostly in sedans and the sedans were pretty compact (look at a 1983 Accord or Camry back then). Nowadays everything is humongous in comparison. Fortunately, 10 airbags and most accidents are single vehicle accidents, and the body is much stronger.
Recently bought a 2021 Mystic Blue Chevy Spark and I love it!! It's roomier than I anticipated and although the hatchback is small they made it deep so it holds more than I thought it could for groceries. Great little car. My over 6 foot son 280 pounds is comfortable in the front passenger seat.
I literally bought one 10 days ago, I was in the market for a fuel efficient and affordable car with the rapid rise in gas prices, I had a lot of cars I test drove, and I had my reservations until I test drove it. And after test driving I was sold. I bought the LT, free life time oil changes, 10 yr 200,000 mile GAP Warranty (this cover repairs of the engine, transmission and all electrical components), no regrets, it drives really well and much more space than it appears.
Hey Takara I really appreciate your comments. Its no doubt a nice little car that's big on value which like you said is plain to see once you see it in person and drive it, Congratulations!
Sounds like driving on the highways is not a problem with your car. I was wondering if driving from Mississippi to Georgia would be hard on the driver and passengers’ back/body. I am glad to know you are doing just fine driving hundreds of miles on the highway. If it is ok, what type of warranty on the vehicle such as mileage and years and anything else you do not mind discussing. Thanks for reading my comments. I hope to hear from you soon. I am 64. My last vehicle was a manual 2003 Saturn Vue. My husband had a stroke and made the mistake of messing up the clutch. The dealers did not repair clutches for that year and trying to find mechanics to do it was not worth spending around $3000.00 for my old vehicle. Whatever else could have gone wrong was just more money. Buying new was my final decision. I am still looking and decided to come on RUclips for real owners. Smiles
Let's be honest.... The Spark is popular with car-buyers in America because for many of us, car prices have gotten insane! And, so have fuel prices at $5.oo a gallon. A few short years ago, a very intelligent Insider once said that a brand could build the greatest family car for the middle-class that the world has ever seen. If it costs $45K, that brand has failed. That was a few short years ago. Look at car prices now. Look at the ridiculously expensive features car brands are stuffing into their offerings as standard, rather than as options. The Spark is the right car for the times. Inexpensive to buy, compared to other cars out there now. Easy to insure. Easy to get financing. Great gas mileage. Plenty of room for a daily commuter for one person. New family with very young children? It can work for that. If the economy wasn't terrible; the Spark wouldn't be as popular as it is. I do like the exterior styling, and the center stack looks very stylish. I'm seriously considering this as my next vehicle in the very near future.
I miss having more of a selection in small affordable cars. I had a 1995 Pontiac Firefly 1.3 liter 4 cylinder until 2008 when it was replace with a Pontiac Wave. Driving a 2013 Spark and the Air Condition is not good. In AZ it's hot in the Summer and get it just to 79 inside if at all. Repairs on the AC already wasted 1 Grand over the years. Did Chevy fix the AC issues? I notice the new Sparks are smaller than the older Sparks like mine. For instance mine has cupholders left drivers door and right passenger door. I sat in a 2019 Spark a while back and it was noticable smaller and tighter. Also in 2021 power windows is a must and cruise control too. My 2013 has at least power windows. I like the miles per gallon on this car alot. Question for the next Spark is it possible to apply heat control film to the windows so that less heat enter the inside cabin?
Hey Han Soll, the old generation Spark your driving vs the re-design that happened in 2015 is the same size vehicle with slightly more storage than yours. In 2018 the Spark received a re-fresh and next year 2022 we likely to see a whole new generation Spark. The Spark is sold all over the world and the A/C does work and yes you can add tint to your windows of yours and the current generation which I would recommend you add unless you are doing tons of night time driving as this does reduce your visibility.
Hey Magamart, greetings from Canada, your the first person I've had the pleasure of speaking with in Guatemala...SUPER COOL. Hope all is well and that your Spark continues to treat you well, cheers, and thanks for the comment!
By the way, I had a 2103 Focus hatchback and loved everything about it except the seats and headrests. It was unbearable; had to trade it in after 25K miles. But I loved the hatchback feature.
Chevy and GM did a really stupid thing.. they discontinued the Spark. Not everyone wants an SUV. Really dumb. I have a 2021 Spark.. will try to upgrade and buy the last year, 2022.
Hey Randy outside of diesel Trucks nearly everyone uses a cast steel lower block with an Alluminum top end or a Full Alluminum engine. The benifits of the first is cost as cast steel is inexpensive however they are heavier and steel holds onto heat longer than Alluminum. So obiously the benifits of a Full Alluminum engine is its lighter in the vehicle and it disapates heat better which usually increases engine efficienty and longevity. So yes they hold up great!
Sorry Richard I missed your comment yes it has a timing chain. To my knowledge no GM Vehicle in Canada uses a timing belt. Appreciate the comment, cheers!
I’m in America, and looking for a new car right now. I’m currently driving a 2015 Mirage and I don’t really like it. I’m quite interested in the Spark. Thanks for this video, showing it off.
Hey Kat! We have two for service loaners here in Alberta and we put winter tires on them and they are great! They have nearly 5 inces of overall ground clearance which is close to the clearance of most small SUV's so its not plowing snow like many cars.
if you're still looking for an answer, but this is just my opinion, the mirage is one of the cars I test drove before buying a spark LT just recently, and I'd have to say yes, the Spark is much better.
They sure the heck can my friend!! We have one as our Service Loaner with Winter Tires on it and we get people ask for it over other cars and small SUV's.
That's the goal. Most similar or slightly larger cars have turbos and the more the turbos kick in the more fuel you use so yes this is among the best on fuel.
At 6ft4 I doubt I would fit comfortably. Oddly enough back in1997 I bought a Plymouth Sundance the 1991 model. People would sort of laugh but then I showed them and a lot of the time they were shocked. It was a compact car but it was deceptive. I liked that car. I guess my question is max height for the driver. What about weight lol I'm 218 lbs. Because I have to admit I always remember that Sundance and how much I liked it
Hey Tom I'm 6ft 260lbs and like I said in the video I fit very comfortably in the Spark but at 6ft4 you combined with if your tall in the body it might be at the limits but you won't know till you go and sit in one. Let me know once you do, cheers!
@@WesternGMDrumhellerit's a VERY safe car! In the USA only 2 airbags are required but it's got more than that. Not 4 or 6 or even 8. It's got TEN! Quite impressive for a car this size I would say Even the base trim has ABS brakes back up camera and traction control. But in addition, it's got brake assist and hill start assist so it doesn't roll. Headlights are automatic and also has daytime running lights. Some may call it "cheap" but it's not at all when it comes to safety
I bought a 2021 chevy spark and ai 50.000 miles the front calepersseized and my master cylinder heated up and seized my brakes so be aware of this if you have one
Sorry to hear depending on where you live rust can cause a front caliper to seize but usually you can smell something heating up and catch it before hand. It's also something we (GM Dealers) check and service when we do a semi-annual check on your vehicle.
Sorry its not fitting you sir! I'm 6ft tall and it doesn't dig into my knee but with you being a few inches taller and maybe longer in the legs than I am I can see how this can happen. Appreciate the comment!
@@tomv5988 Hey Tom the city stores are selling Sparks for more than MSRP in many bigger centers as demand is so high and the news of the Sparks demise is honestly pretty said. It is a very reliable and fun car. I would expect Used Prices to remain high for the next 2-3 years as we see no easing up of expensive fuel prices and this is a naturally asperated fuel sipping hot hatch!
@@WesternGMDrumheller Right and GM had it redesigned by Opel to optimize this small car, as Germany has to more experience with small cars. Also, the GM South Korea plant has been producing this consistently for a number of years.
Your correct the 2021 SPARK LS Lease rate is 8.99% but the LT's Lease rate is 2.5%. This can change from month to month so buy one when the deal is right for you.
Good looking subcompact but I went with the Mirage and my wife did too. Spark has some advantages though, for one, a much bigger dealer network and much cheaper parts too. Mitsu part prices are insane and the aftermarket scene is small to avoid OEM. Interior is nicer than my Mirage but the seats felt just mediocre in both cars. Spark has better speed and suspension too. Pros for the Mirage include better long term reliability. Data shows from owners, that the JATCO CVT7, a transmission shared by both the Spark and the Mirage, seem to hold up better over time in a Mirage. This is most likely due to the Mirage only having 74lbs of torque. Torque is the CVT killer in my opinion, but if you get a manual Spark, this is a non-issue. The Mirage also gets better gas mileage, has more cargo and passenger volume room. You can uber in a Mirage, but not in a Spark. Mitsubishi warranty is much longer. Rear passenger legroom in a Spark, is almost none existent unless it's a child. In the Mirage it's a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. The Spark rear back bench fold down set up is kinda janky too. You to flip that bottom bench out, take out the headrests, and then even still doesn't fold as flat as it does in a Mirage. If your over 6ft tall in the driver seat the Spark back bench even with all the prep work done, doesn't fold past a 130 degrees, either. The back bench in a Mirage folds down easily even with the front seats scooted the farthest back and doesn't require you remove the head rests either.
Well my friend VinFast will have exclusive rights to distribute Chevys in Vietnam and will take ownership of the existing General Motors factory in Hanoi. Woot woot!
"60% of spark owners never own a GM before". Sorry that statement can be treated similar to glass half full or empty. For me, a glass half empty guy, it means only 40% of owners trust the brand enough to buy spark as their second or third GM vehicle. But I get what you are selling. Korean cars, including Spark, have been improved in terms of quality and reliability over the years. That part is fact.
Hey Teetee, many automakers have a vehicle that helps with getting them NEW customers ie customers who have never been to the brand before. In GM Land due to its price point and reliability the SPARK has been a "winner winner Chicken Dinner" for GM. Similar examples from other brands would when the FORD Edge launched 30% of the buyers of that vehicle never owned a Ford before. When NISSAN launched the Murano 40% of the buyers never owned a Nissan before. Numbers this high are very RARE in the Car Business and Automakers would kill to have success like this on every Model of vehicle because without gaining new customers you can't grow. Appreciate the comment, cheers!
I had a 2016 2lt with cvt. It was a fast fun car the only prob is I wanted a manual lol. Ended up trading it in for a 2021 ls with the 5 speed. Awesome ride
Been checking videos on this , but I may go with a another toyota yaris. I think it's a better car for the money. I hear this car is made in Korea.not that it's a deal breaker, still love my little japan car.
The Yaris was a superior car back in the day but if you drive them back to back there is no way you will find the Yaris a better driving car. As for reliability I'd give the nod to Yaris but not by much. So if you factor in the drivability, technology and room vs a slightly more reliable vehicle I feel we should take the win my friend.
I have a 2017 Toyota Yaris ia. Never had a problem with it and it’s almost paid off. I’m giving it to my son as his first car and buying a Spark. I only drive to and from work so why buy an expensive car? I think it’s perfect for me.
Kev let's talk Canadian pricing here you're comparing a $18k Canadian car to a $35k Canadian SUV...I would expect your SUV to be A LOT more vehicle but to say you hate the Spark I think you need to reevaluate the scale you're measuring it against. Comparing it to other 18k vehicles I'm confident it would be at the top of your list my friend, cheers!
Guilty as charged. Because there is no script its me and my iPhone walking around a vehicle I sometimes miss speak. Clearly this was me miss speaking, lol, but I did say exhaust manifold immediately after as that was my attempt at correcting myself. Thanks for watching and for trolling me!
I liked everything but the part where it is said that the styling isn't cheap. Guys come on now. I understand we all have different tastes but this is by no definition "stylish".
Kind of cool they offer a 5-speed. Even though it sounds more like a hamster on steroids it at least makes you feel like you're driving a race car maybe not a Maserati or Ferrari or Lamborghini but close LOL

I once had a Nissan Pulsar that only had 80 hp and I drove full throttle many times in Europe,no problems.
Ahh the Pulsar, I loved the look of the 1987 Pulsar 2door t-top with flip up headlights and the solid alloys. Great looking car a classic in my books!
GM can’t brag about this being THEIR car. It’s a Daewoo that’s made in South Korea.
Made by gm Korea. Successor to Daewoo. Sad that Mary there in Detroit didn't know what she had....😢
I have the passion fruit color spark & I had it for 17 months it’s very suitable for me & very good on gas
Congratulations, nice color!
Great review, thanks. You mentioned a aluminum engine. Just wondered how well that holds up?
Hey Randy outside of diesel Trucks nearly everyone uses a cast steel lower block with an Alluminum top end or a Full Alluminum engine. The benifits of the first is cost as cast steel is inexpensive however they are heavier and steel holds onto heat longer than Alluminum. So obiously the benifits of a Full Alluminum engine is its lighter in the vehicle and it disapates heat better which usually increases engine efficienty and longevity. So yes they hold up great!
Hi, can this car be flat towed behind a motorhome??
You can only flat tow the manual transmisson model the (CVT Automatic Transmission models need to be dinghy towed)
Does your car have a timing belt or timing chain in a 2021 Chevrolet Spark
Sorry Richard I missed your comment yes it has a timing chain. To my knowledge no GM Vehicle in Canada uses a timing belt. Appreciate the comment, cheers!
Is this version available in Morocco? Colors?
I'm not sure if they are sold NEW there or not but I did a quick google search and found a few used ones.
I’m in America, and looking for a new car right now. I’m currently driving a 2015 Mirage and I don’t really like it. I’m quite interested in the Spark. Thanks for this video, showing it off.
Appreciate the kind works, cheers!
I want the 10000$ one,, with manual transmission.
Go get one Bro!
I got base model with manual...love it.
$ goes before numbers not after it
I picked one up its pretty fun to drive
How is this car for winter driving :)
Hey Kat! We have two for service loaners here in Alberta and we put winter tires on them and they are great! They have nearly 5 inces of overall ground clearance which is close to the clearance of most small SUV's so its not plowing snow like many cars.
@@WesternGMDrumheller awesome! Just bought one today! Will be doing a lot of highway winter driving so was a bit nervous!
@@babymisty78 Get winter tires. I recomend Nokian Hakkapeliitta WR or Michelin X-Ice tires.
Is the spark better than the mirage?
if you're still looking for an answer, but this is just my opinion, the mirage is one of the cars I test drove before buying a spark LT just recently, and I'd have to say yes, the Spark is much better.
Yes. Spark is feels more premium than mirage
My Chevy has already taken two impacts and it still goes down the road
WE NEED SPARK BACK IN INDIA
How can I get this for 10k if I live in US
Buy a one year off lease with low kms they sell for 10k up here or buy a Brand New 2022 LS Manual Transmission for 14k!
I really wish if this brand returns to India
The perfect car for the city
Your Right on the mark!
I bought a used one. Never owned a GM before. My grandchild calls it my race car.
Love it, I'm sure it will treat you well, cheers!
It's it automatic and where is the radio
Can it handle Canada's Winter Season?
They sure the heck can my friend!! We have one as our Service Loaner with Winter Tires on it and we get people ask for it over other cars and small SUV's.
what color of blue is that? When I look up Chevy spark 2021 its a powdered blue or Caribbean blue.
It is Caribbean Blue Metallic my friend, cheers!
@@WesternGMDrumheller oh ok, the video makes the blue look darker than the Caribbean blue advertised on their site.
Does it use less gas than a regular size car?
That's the goal. Most similar or slightly larger cars have turbos and the more the turbos kick in the more fuel you use so yes this is among the best on fuel.
@@WesternGMDrumheller Thank you!!
I want that car when I start driving.
Thanks for the review!
What about weight lol
I'm 218 lbs.
LOL try the Trax instead
@@zythr9999
The trax is overpriced big time
LOL
@@tomv5988 Yes it is Lol
Does the touch screen have on or off settings?
Without PC tweaking.
Yes you just push the power button and it will be all black with just the date and time.
Is it possible to update my 2016 Spark 2LT’s software display to that of the 2021?
Sorry it's using different radio hardware so its not possible.
If going to buy make sure to get the 1lt version
Congrats, I'm sure it will treat you well!
Do the rear seats fold down?
Yes they do!
Very informative video, thank you!
Hey Ronny! I appreciate the kind words, cheers!
I admire hill assist and lane assist keeps passengers a safe record but some people dont believe that so Im annoyed
Very true they do really help!
@@WesternGMDrumhellerit's a VERY safe car! In the USA only 2 airbags are required but it's got more than that. Not 4 or 6 or even 8. It's got TEN! Quite impressive for a car this size I would say
Even the base trim has ABS brakes back up camera and traction control. But in addition, it's got brake assist and hill start assist so it doesn't roll. Headlights are automatic and also has daytime running lights. Some may call it "cheap" but it's not at all when it comes to safety
I've never had one
I'm thinking about getting one
Its a nice ride and affordable as a pre-owned or new.
Sometimes when I shut my 21 Chevy Spark off I hear a dinging sound what could that be
If its making an odd sound bring it to the dealer, keep in mind if something is wrong you'll likely get a check engine light.
@@WesternGMDrumheller thanks I just found out from other people that their Chevy Spark's are doing the same thing
@@crocketgsxr6 great comment!
This is available in India?
As a used car but I guess 2020 was the last year it was sold NEW in India.
@@WesternGMDrumheller
Thanks you for your response bro
Always loved little cars! Had a Ford Festiva years ago, and loved it until it finally died!
Ahhh the Mazda 2/Ford Festiva were fun little cars for sure!
Currently drive a 93 Festiva. Looking to “upgrade” to another tiny cheap stick shift hatchback. Haha.
Sooo it doesn't come in automatic or did he say it does in car-people lexicon?
It does come in automatic.
Its available as a manual transmisson or CVT Automatic transmisson.
I’d even buy a Chevy from Brad. Well done, all purpose nail.
Appreciate the kind words, cheers!
Even with the seat all the way back, the lower part of the dashboard digs into the drivers knee. I'm 6'2". Slightly larger Sonic fixed this.
Sorry its not fitting you sir! I'm 6ft tall and it doesn't dig into my knee but with you being a few inches taller and maybe longer in the legs than I am I can see how this can happen. Appreciate the comment!
Beautiful car
👍👍👍
Blom masuk indonesia chevrolet spark terbaru
I want to buy this car for my mum in a few years time.
Nice!
This is the last year for any new models.
Of course a used one would be cheap.
I don't see it holding much value.
@@tomv5988 Used ones are actually more expensive than new right now
I really like this little car.
Its a fun and reliable little car for sure!
Came from the Daewoo Matiz.
Wayyyyyy back in 1998 the good old days!
@@WesternGMDrumheller Right and GM had it redesigned by Opel to optimize this small car, as Germany has to more experience with small cars. Also, the GM South Korea plant has been producing this consistently for a number of years.
I think everyone's fear of cvt comes from people who owned a Nissan cvt...
Nailed it!
The KIA cvt is ok
uh, still dont buy the cvt, idk why youre shilling it, they have an automatic and a manual too
The Spark is available with either a CVT or Manual in the lower trims and the higher trims only have CVT my friend.
Canada is charging 8.99 for interest rate. Leasing this car is more interested heavy than an 911 here. Gm is crazy
Your correct the 2021 SPARK LS Lease rate is 8.99% but the LT's Lease rate is 2.5%. This can change from month to month so buy one when the deal is right for you.
Dear Chevrolet Please come back to India
From what I gathered online spark is much more reliable than mirage. Why is mirage being dogged online as the worst car?
The rear of the car is like Vinfast Fadil
Well my friend VinFast will have exclusive rights to distribute Chevys in Vietnam and will take ownership of the existing General Motors factory in Hanoi. Woot woot!
About to drive mine from San Antonio to Tampa 🙁
How did it go?
Yoshimura

Nice!
Thank you
Your welcome!
I was just given this as a rental car and I hate it. I’m spoiled with my 2022 Mazda CX 5
@@WesternGMDrumheller lmao

I liked everything but the part where it is said that the styling isn't cheap. Guys come on now. I understand we all have different tastes but this is by no definition "stylish".
The spirit of what I meant is true its not a CHEAPLY BUILT or LOOKING car. Notice I didn't say its a "HOT HATCH" cus that would be a stretch.
Kind of cool they offer a 5-speed. Even though it sounds more like a hamster on steroids it at least makes you feel like you're driving a race car maybe not a Maserati or Ferrari or Lamborghini but close LOL

They’re wrong for making it in this color.
My eye's are blue so I have to disagree with you BLUE is a great color.

There's too many things on here that people never use a person is better off spending a couple thousand more and buying a Nissan Sentra or Kia soul
Unfortunately the reliability of the Nissan Sentra or Kia Soul is lacking compared to the Spark. The Spark is know the world over as a very reliable and affordable vehicle.
