I'm a guardian for a parent with dementia who is in MC with other people with dementia (I've spent months consumed with learning about and experiencing people who are living with dementia).
I acknowledge my lack of medical qualifications but I am certain he has dementia, The way his voice sounds, inability to enunciate, even the cadence of his ramblings has changed. I suspect other people who have gone through this with a LO will know what I'm talking about. It is more telling than his lapses in orientation to time and place, forgetfulness or confusion. Those can happen occasionally as people age. The way he speaks now. Sounds like most of the people I've met in mid stage dementia. *There is considerable research that suggests a strong link between mental health issues and neuroticism throughout life and dementia. Amongst a lot of other causes or contributing factors. Just saying his personality type is more likely to develop dementia.
