This video is a life saver. I was loosing my mind trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. Getting my jig saw out tomorrow. STILLEN should stand behind their product.
I had the same issue, had to take my Stillen to a mastertech who modified it. Had to shave/sand it down so the shutters wouldn't hit it. About 8 months ago and no issues.
I guess no one read the disclaimer on Stillen's website about not working with the active shutters: *NOTE: THAT THIS INTAKE SCOOP WILL NOT WORK WITH VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH RADIATOR BLOCK OFF PLATE SYSTEMS.
Thank you for pointing this out. So many comments make it clear people didn't read the product description before purchasing. I almost bought the scoop, but decided against it once I read the product description.
Rocking that US General box and tool cart with no complaints. I have a overloaded the drawers with no issues. Harbor Freight FTW. I see zero need for tool truck boxes at this point.
I am impressed with the Husky toolboxes. I have a 60" lower and love it. Also, with your new wheels and tires setup, be prepared for some clearance issues depending on offset. May have some trimming. Can't wait to see the lift on it. Makes a world of difference.
I just bought mine for the gmc it is redesigned to where it cleares the system I purchased mine then i watched this video and it was giving me second thoughts till I installed it and noticed it’s far from rubbing
Almost every mod you have done. On your trailboss I have done. Waiting to purchase the pulsar next. Thank you for going through the trials for us. Much love
Glad it wasn't the Pulsar LT! Mine is running excellent...except I "thought" I turned off the speed limiter. The truck hit the 98 mph limiter on a recent trip to Arkansas. 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L)
I have that same Husky toolbox you were looking at. It’s well built and lots of useful storage. I decided on that after looking at Lowe’s and Harbor Freight boxes. It seems to be best bang for buck.
Olight's rock...Jack loves them and we have easily 30 or 40 of them (keep buying more on their flash sales...not that we need anymore). I recommend getting your sons one or two of the OBulbs. They are perfect for toddlers (Jack has the entire collection) especially for bedtime reading and fun in the bath (since they float)!
Good call giving the dealer the middle finger on oil changes. I just started noticing an oil leak in my driveway where I park my truck. Went under the truck and found the oil filter was leaking. Cleaned the filter off, the twisted it with my hand. It was loose. Got a wrench and tightened it. Dealership did my last oil change. They got me with the good price.
Welcome to the "Buy once, Cry once" club. Buying better quality devices/tools in the beginning may cost you more today, but replacing lower quality devices and tools over time will end up costing you more. Oh, and those flaps inside the grill definitely work. It is like NASCAR/NASTRUCK adding tape to the outside of the grills when they pit. So, even though the truck is lifted, every little bit definitely helps.
I work out of my tool box every day as a semi technician. I swapped my snap on tool box with a US General from Harbor Freight. I upgraded the size and it was about 12k cheaper than the big name boxes. My box is the 72" and have no complaints. I chose to do this because the box is not being rolled around from one side of the shop to the other, it sits still.
I waited for one of the frequent Harbor Freight sales and picked up 2 of their 72" US General toolboxes. Hard to beat for the money really. Wife picked up a smaller Husky box with wood top for furniture painting supplies and what not and it's pretty nice as well.
Not sure if it would void it, but I was not willing to chance it. The point was that some people think by deactivating the DFM it would prevent lifter failure, it didn’t in my case.
Um, go to Stillen's website and read the product description. They clearly pointed out this isn't for the trucks with active shutters. I almost bought the scoop, but had to reverse course when I read it.
I bought my tool chest from Strictly Tools. I love their heavy gauge steel used in the construction. Great quality. I ordered the all black Tool Vault Elite XL, with hutch and 2 side lockers. I have had it for roughly 4 months now, I am still filling it with tool, detailing and garden equipment. I am currently adding power strips, lights, power stations. Great video.
The dealership did the exact same thing with my oil filter, and I was like, “why tf is my 21 leaking oil?”, and was able to twist my filter by hand 🤦🏼♂️
I got lucky I just got a 2021 Silverado LT with out the DFM so happy for that thanks to his videos I looked at the sticker before I bought the truck big win chevy is funny you get a $50 credit just for not having a DFM
Thanks for this video, I had no idea and that the shutters closed so early. I wish I would have known then I would have realized thats where the noise was coming from. I will do this to my Stillen.
You had me worried, I thought you were running into lifter failure issues. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t run into this problem with the Stillen Intake, but I will be looking at it before my next drive just to be safe. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see this lift, and Fuel off-road setup (just a guess)! 🤙🏻
I’ve had my Stillen intake for over a year, and no issues… I did remove the top 2 shutters off my truck(they close and block the intake at highway speeds anyway). If you want to remove them they are super easy, they just bend and slide out of the slots in each side. As far as the lifter issues, disable the DFM as soon as you can, and that should help.
@@jeremywhittington7605 I’ll be removing my lower fans later this week when I install a new light bar, thanks might as well take them all out. I’m good with the DFM, I disabled that right away with the Pulsar.
I really like my Husky tool box, the quality seems decent and it wasn't super expensive. I have heard good reviews on the US General brand at Harbor Freight. Great video.
this is awesome! I thank you so much for uploading this vid addressing the issue with the Stillen. I myself have that issue for close to a year. i never thought it would be this. I will now be able to fix it! the dealer couldn't find the issue after having my truck for 2 days. its funny/traumatizing when i heard the same sound as you were driving off in your video. subscribed! also, I too, have the AVS hood deflector. makes our trucks stand out!
You should have read the product description on Stillen's website before buying. They knew it wasn't compatible on trucks with the shutters, and even said so.

My last job bought me the husky 52" box. Loved it, unfortunately, couldn't take it with me when I left. Tons of room, quality box. Currently using a 42" husky I bought myself for work. Husky is the best bang for the buck for toolboxes.

Is the truck going to still fit in the garage with the lift kit? I can't get a lifted truck in mine and I didn't want a brand new 2500 GMC Black Widow sitting outside all the time. I can barely fit my new 2021 Tahoe, it has the air suspension that I have to make sure to lower before entering the garage. When we build our new house I'll make sure to have a higher garage door and also inside celing to put a couple 4 post lifts for work & storage. Funny the lights are out of stock?

Yes

Harbor freight tool boxes it’s worth a look
If you are looking for a budget toolbox, then Husky is a decent one to look at. However, step up a bit and pay a little more for a Milwaukee box, or even a Tekton box, although those are a bit pricey by comparison.
Or if you have a Costco membership. look at their offerings online or in the nearest store. They have stepped up their game when it comes to better quality toolboxes. Although they do have two newer ones from the Trinity that have thicker steel and even one with an adjustable height work bench. Definitely worth looking at, and if you buy it and it falls apart, it is from Costco, so you can take it back.
