- This is the MSX port of Pac-Man being played on a RC2014 Z80 computer using my MSX Graphics Sound and Joystick module. The module is a single board about the size of a standard RC2014 board which has a TMS9918 F18A on a Tang Nano 9K FPGA. It outputs directly to HDMI with superb quality. The module also has an AY-3-8910 sound chip and the I/O ports on the sound chip is where the joysticks hook up. It’s an all-in-one module for gaming on the RC2014. Details including schematics and Gerbers can be found on my GitHub at "github.com/seb...". The game is played using my CP/M MSX8 game loader which loads and plays MSX games. Link for MSX8 is also on my GitHub.
Looks great!
Looks Good...
Can you still get the F18A VDPs ??
I'm using this project: github.com/lfantoniosi/tn_vdp/tree/main which puts the F18A core on an inexpensive ($25) Tang Nano 9K FPGA. I'm using the V1 boards (9K) but he also has a new version of the boards that use the Tang Nano 20K. I documented it here: github.com/sebhc/sebhc/wiki/F18A-TMS9918-FPGA-EMULATOR
But also if you have the RC2014 you may want to grab my Gerbers for the MSX GRAPHICS/SOUND/JOYSTICK module which uses the Tang Nano 9K version of the board running the F18A core: github.com/sebhc/sebhc/wiki/RCBUSMSX
Are these MSX boards for sale on Tindie etc ?
I believe Shiela Dixon (MIDI IN on Tindie) is planning on putting some pre-assembled boards up on Tindie soon
Shiela has some of these assembled and tested if you want to contact her: newstuffforoldstuff.blogspot.com/2024/07/new-msx-graphics-sound-joystick-module.html
github link not working
Ugh.. what the heck RUclips! I edited the link but then RUclips shortens it. See if this works: github.com/sebhc/sebhc/wiki/RCBUSMSX
@@lesbird Yep, link works - thanks, I've been thinking about making a RC2014 MSX system!
