The terrarium story, even if it wasn't malicious, his response to her being upset is unacceptable. An accident is okay but complete lack of empathy is not

As a plant mom(w work for a greenhouse & plants are my life) this story hurt my soul. This guy was being spiteful.

The terrarium was deliberately destroyed because he was jealous. The terrarium took time, attention and affection away from him.

Not one singular percent of me believes the guy in Story 6 was trying to be thoughtful. He wasn't trying to help. He destroyed something she cared about for some awful reason, and now he's mad he's not getting away with it. Actions have consequences. (And actually, if he's so dense and careless that in years of marriage he DID think this was a favor? Still garbage.)

I'm sorry, but Story #8 AH using his trauma as an excuse for kicking his wife and newborn baby out of his house and presumably not bothering to speak to her for eight days is as flipping disgusting as it is pathetic.

Agree with my whole heart with Candy Thunder: there is no coming back from abandoning your partner. And "kissing ass" puts mending a relationship into a small, unimportant, devalued, insincere place.

That mother in law story with the insults and slap really aggravated me

The hair story: That bride clearly isn’t emotionally stable enough to get married. This is an extremely immature reaction.

Terrarium story: he was punishing her for leaving and for the potential that she gets a better job. Likely means more pay (might be more than he makes). Also, they would potentially have to move for her to have this job. So he was trying to punish her for three things.

He had a temper tantrum because SHE is in great demand and thus, moving the family. Just to take her down a notch.

Valentine's Day ... if the guy is offended that she had expectations for a dinner? not OK. Not sure I'd want to continue the relationship

Terrarium story: his reaction sounds like lie--whenever someone actually says "you're trying to destroy our marriage "for an argument that wouldn't ruin a marriage, it's a red flag that something ELSE has happened that, if found out, WOULD actually destroy it, and that big guilt trip is deflection. His lack of empathy and active interest in making her guilty is also a big red flag. It isn't the act, but the reaction that gives away the intent of that destruction. Hot take: he didn't do it. His mistress did it, and he's covering.

The terrarium story: my narcissist ex-husband frequently did stuff like that and loved to play the "I was just trying to help and you're so ungrateful" card. He destroyed things just because he had the opportunity and knew that it would hurt me. He was the devil.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but with regards to the terrarium story abusers may sometimes hurt something you care for, so that you will never leave with the added bonus of isolating you. Disclaimer not everyone is like this. Just be careful.

The terrarium story. They've been married how long? He would know how that terrarium worked. It was deliberate. "Being Helpful" was an excuse. I hope she took that job and divorced him.

I am really tired of choosing exes feelings over their partner. Then gaslighting saying their being jealous and just need to get over it

Terrarium story: sounds like they were married long enough to have seen her almost never do anything to it, so he would have had an idea at the very least of what it needed and didn'tneed. Also.. sounds like that Terrarium got more love and attention then he did on a daily... maybe he felt he deserved all that attention?

The terrarium: he’s either jealous she is being offered a better job and is acting g out his annoyance. Ir he missed her; tried ti help and failed. But they should’ve taken the trip

Can we stop referring to people as Karen every time they have something they need to speak up about? Karen is supposed to be somebody who is unreasonable and rude. If somebody is being rude to you and you have a problem with it that does not make you a Karen.

Hats off to him, cause I would have said sorry but we can't be together but I'll be here for my Baby, but we will not be a couple in this, her Parents will probably be heartbroken that their daughter did this, I assume they would be there for him,and his choice of not marrying their daughter until they have counseling. Most religious people suggest premarital counseling anyways!!!

NTA The Karen's have made it so decent people that get treated horribly by Customer Services in all types of venues feel like they're being Assholes for lodging a civilized polite complaint. The manger is responsible to the owner and or the company. And, truly horrendous service can cost the owner, franchise holder their livelihood as most restaurant owners have a large investment in that business. Yet, because of Karen's the guests that have a legitimate grievance don't say anything, but just stop taking their business there and patronize the place where they receive better service. So, it becomes a sort of self fulfilling thing. No-one complains for fear of being labeled a Karen, no one gets reprimanded for crappy service, as a result the quality of service diminishes. So, this will probably be an unpopular opinion but I say we decent, civilized hard working people that want to go out or pick up dinner need to take back our right to complain in an appropriate manner....if enough of us do it perhaps none of us will be disappointed with service. Also, I have worked in restaurants as a server, prep cook and a line cook I know how hard the jobs can be, which is why I tip generously for quality service. Yet, even though cell phones weren't a thing the last time I did restaurant work there were still a phone, (landline that usually had a long chord)and friends and boyfriends I could have been calling, but not working when on or at my job goes against my work ethic, And I couldn't afford to be fired as I had College, and living expenses to pay for. So, I have trouble watching those in customer service these days not doing their job providing the customer service they were hired to provide service to dick around on their Cells and not do what they're being paid to do. Maybe its because I am old but during my entire working life I had only one Karen because her husband was divorcing her, and he cancelled her credit card. But, now you cannot shake a toothpick without hitting 12-20 of them.😋🤔

Story 5: eek. I normally think Dusty hits the nail on the head every time, but definitely NOT with this one. 😂
He was waaay to forgiving with OP here. OP looks at his gf in a worse light because she wanted to do SOMETHING for Valentine's Day??? 😬
If that makes her too traditional or materialistic, does he feel the same way about moms on Mother's Day or people on their birthdays? Dude, that screams cheapskate and self-centered on his part.
Just because she wanted to do something doesn't mean he has to spend a lot of money. They could have a romantic picnic and he could get her a few flowers. He doesn't have to drop hundreds on diamonds and steaks. Women just want to feel appreciated by their significant others. If that's too much to expect from him, she should stop wasting her time with this guy.
So cringe and pathetic on his part.
ETA: he shouldn't wait until the last minute for his gf to bring up the topic of what to do for vday. If they've been together for almost a year, it's 100% on him to be proactive and assume she'll expect SOMETHING. She shouldn't have to spell out such obvious shit, especially considering how he's basically 30 years old. Good grief. 🙄
