    Love the downdraft, pass-thru, and ez-mod/upgrade to full enclosure. This just might be the ticket for my L2. Way to hit all the right buttons!

    The reason I started watching you was your jig file ideas. You have since come up with many more great ideas. I like the way you think.

    I was doing some brainstorming today and I think I may use 2X6's for the base so the rotary fits below the grid. I am not as talented as you but can jury rig things, I upload a photo when I get it together. I also like the idea of being able to place a longer item under the bottoms of the rails expand the project possibilities, great idea. Love your videos and the Sunday night live session. Keep up the good work.

    Very nice 👍
    I have a downdraft welding table at my shop. Coming from a metal fabrication background fume extraction was my top priority. I have my laser in my office at home so I had that handled before my machine arrived. I just completed my set-up. I also ended up with 2x4's as a base, cheapest option I could come up with so I can do rotary projects. I have (4) 2x4's screwed together in pairs that I can take in and out of my enclosure, instead of a permanent base like yours. My enclosure is a Creality 3d printer enclosure I already had, turned sideways (works better for this than as a 3d printer enclosure). It's the fully sealed canvas one for $60-$80. Works great. I don't even plan to make one now. Fits the Falcon 2 perfectly btw. With the $29 Amazon duct fan going out a window I can stand right next to it and not smell a thing.
    I do plan to make a table similar to yours though. If you're planning to offer the plans on your site I would probably get those. I could recreate it but would rather support you for your efforts. 👍

    That's brilliant. That solves my issue of my DIY chuck not fitting under the laser module like my roller setup does.

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  4 дня назад

      Depending on the length of the exhaust pipe, most 4 inch fans can handle it. I would say around 200.

    Also the exhaust table, do you think that would work inside to not only deal with the smoke, but the fumes as well?

      This one is just a vivosun 4 inch. It is my older fan from a previous build. amzn.to/41C9t3Z
      I recently swapped my large enclosure over to a haun&guan 4 inch that seems to work a little better. amzn.to/3MzGvgv the haun is much easier to clean and seems to pull more air.

    The disadvantage I see with the Matrix cutting panel is that it is made from aluminum. If that is the case, then magnets will no longer work to hold down a piece of plywood that is warped. I like using magnets but I also like the Matrix F3 and am going to buy one I just have to figure out another way to hold down warped wood.

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Год назад +1

      It does come with some bars that can be attached to the sides but I prefer not to use them. I avoid warped wood. Even if using hold downs, the cut piece can spring up and hit the laser head.

      The honeycomb atonstack sells is made of metal and magnets work. it also comes with brackets to hold material.

      No, engraving metal requires a fiber laser. You can mark some metals with marking spray but I have never tried anything but stainless. Stainless is the only metal that I am aware of that can be marked without spray.

    I got the Matrix bed today. I hate it. Very flimsy. Not level, tie down brackets are garbage. Total afterthought. If I did keep it I would have to 3d print something else.
    Hanging on to my honeycomb bed. It's half the price, perfectly level with the magnetized 3D printed feet I made. I can use magnets to hold my work down like my welding table, far superior. I will make a downdraft table for it after solving a design issue I thought I would have. I honestly think the honeycomb will have better airflow in a downdraft configuration than the Matrix bed. Planning to make a debris catcher like a toaster oven. I have something similar on my plasma table. So clean up should be even easier than the Matrix.
    Reading some other comments on other channels, some people have been having issues with it. Wood pieces falling inside and sticking up and the laser module hitting it.

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Год назад

      I am happy with the results so far, I do see the potential for pieces to flip but so far no issues. Mine seems pretty rigid especially when supported in the base.
