- Descending from their lofty perch on Rainbow Mountain, Chad & Rose continue riding north to Peru's cultural epicenter - Cusco!
Surrendering the Africa Twin in a desperate attempt to repair the front brake disks, they set off sans motorcycle to explore the historic city of Cusco, Sacsayhuaman, and The Lost City of the Inca - Machu Picchu!
After an exhausting few days, including the Festival of the Virgen del Carmen, they depart for the Amazon Cloud Forest & Manu National Park via the remote Madre de Dios river.
And as if that wasn't enough, Chad loses Rose! Sort of...

I rode a coal-steam train from Cusco to Aquas Calientes in 1973. After spending the night I walked the railroad tracks to the base of Machu Picchu then climbed up to the ruins. No hotel was present at that time as you can imagine. I did climb Huayna Picchu (Peak adjacent to Machu Picchu) and that was a thrill! I happened to be in Cusco when Allende was killed in Chile and there were riots/deaths in Cusco! Seeing the zoo-like atmosphere you saw, I won't be going back to Machu Picchu! Thx for the video.
Holy crap, all around!! Coal-streamed train, Machu Picchu in the 70's and a CIA backed-coup in Chile? All rolled into one? I know a few guys that spent a significant amount of time in South America in the 60s & 70s... I would have LOVED to have experienced it back then. I can only imagine!!!
I love everything about your channel. Also, the fact that you don't obsess over the bike, it's just right.
Thank you!! I love my Africa Twin, but at the end of the day, it's just another tool! 💪
Looking forward to the next episode, as always, especially with Rose returning, as you tu are the perfect machu!😁
Thanks for keeping this great channel so good!
Fear not, Rose has resumed her position in the narrators chair!! 😁
Thank you for the kind words and for supporting the channel!! 🍻
Thank you for the tour of Machu Picchu and the other Inca ruins. I did not realize the Incas were so precise in their stonework. I doubt anyone in our modern society could do that precise if rock work. Great video even with Rose on vacation to New Mexico.
Hey, hey... Thanks for joining us!! The Masonry defies belief. I have not yet heard a reasonable explanation for how they pulled it off. Some of the theories seem reasonable sight unseen, but as soon as you're there in the flesh, all the posturing and hand-wringing go straight out the window!!!
Love the Lost Rose poster
So funny!
Loved seeing the behind the scence editing footage
It really highlights what Rose brings to the party
Thanks for the latest episode guys
Much love
What... you don't like Chad's narration? 😅
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets 😆🤣
Grazie.
Whoa! Thank you... I didn't realize sending a tip was even possible! You're our first - thanks!! 🥰
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets My little contribution to the new brakes ;-)
@etidona676 😅 Thanks!
Really insightfull and entertaining.
I've missed you guys, as you know I'm out doing my own adventures.
Thank you!! And no worries, riding ALWAYS takes priority over watching!
Your narration was hilarious. Keep going! Do a blurb like this from your perspective in more videos. Rose is excellent! But your spin is refreshing
Ha ha ha... so far, you're in the minority. I think yours makes it 1 vote for me to continue narrating, and about 40 votes for me to cease speaking altogether!! 😅
Love it, Love it, Love it. Staying tuned for the next episode!
Thanks so much!! 🍻
On and off the bike, love it all!
Thank you!!!! ❤
We love cable ties!
A mainstay of the bush-mechanic's holy trinity!! 💪
Some of the most amazing sights of the trip. Absolutely amazing.
A sight to behold, indeed!
Interesting clip, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!!
Definitely one of the best channels on youtube. Both on and off the bike, always entertaining.
Wow, thanks!
Well another cool video, thanks for sharing with us all, always wanted to see Machu Picchu, but thanks for second best. So I see your back in Newsom land god help ya, what’s next destination, or r you just honker down for time being, oh guess you did get your break business resolved, I’m more partial to duck tape myself. Well we’re gearing up for our next big adventure, we pull out next month, we’ll actually next month starts tomorrow but near end of the month, but better get, work day tomorrow, take care, hopefully see what u got next. Rob Ala.
Hey, Rob! Where are you heading??? The only thing better than planning a trip is leaving for one!
We're hunkered down & holed up for the time being, with more than enough to keep us occupied before we hit the road again. Whenever and wherever that may be...
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets as always, thanks for replying, we are heading across Canada making our way over to BC, then up to Alaska again and from there to the Yukon Territory, who knows, we might get bold and drive to push these bikes up to the Arctic Circle, all depending on the roads, with these big touring bikes I know somebody that did that on one like we have, but I’m ready to go near the end of this month. We both are, anyway take care hang in there.
@robertmauter6493 sounds amazing! Such a beautiful part of the world!! If the Dempster is dry, you can ride just about anything on it. Wet is another story... 😬
Enjoy your travels!! 💪🍻
I love being in your camera, the sights the sounds = awesome!👌.....(don't worry Rose, your voice overs are safe me thinks 😂)
Thank you!! So wait, are you trying to say that my voiceover skills are not up to task?? How dare you, sir! How dare you... 😂
Stunning video 😊👍
Thank you!!
Haha, on or off the bike, I always hate when your videos end.
Well, given the circumstances, I think it was best for everyone involved! 😅
woop woop🎉🎉🎉
Woop woop indeed!
I love your crap off the bike!
You are so much more interesting than me! I don't film my life off the bike because it is usually me sitting in a chair watching the fire!
Your crap is gold. Especially because it seems like there is a parade everywhere you go.
Machu Picchu is awesome, not that I have been there. It rates 2 sicks on the Chad scale.
Fyi, despite loving Chad's narration, I have to admit that I missed Rose at the end.
Stay awesome, my friends.
Thanks Dave! I think Rose's job as narrator is safe...
Honestly, episodes off the bike are so much harder to put together, just because I don't have much to work with. We spent over a week in Cusco, and if it hadn't been for the festival, I wouldn't have had any footage at all. Believe it or not, we generally don't film much of our day-to-day, which is probably a good thing... 🥴
@TwoWheelsThreeSheets I think that you said told me once that you didn't like channels about people's dinners. It was a compliment to me for sticking to the riding. I constantly get recommendations to film my meal or show the inside of my tent. Or better yet, be more like Itchy Boots.
I think that if it is interesting, and you remember to do it, then film it. Forget the formulas, and only Noraly can be Itchy Boots.
As for your channel, I see in the comments that most people agree with me that you put out some of the best content online.
Remember that your videos are your art and should make you happy. If it makes others happy too, that it nice but not necessary.
Your humour (both of you) and your interaction is really interesting, which is what makes your video great and worth watching.
Stay awesome!
@tigercoward I think you hit the nail on the head with your "art" comment. I believe those who create out of love create art.
Those who create for the analytics create crap filled with fluff and shots of their dinner... 😅
I actually enjoyed "crap off the bike". It sounds like there's a story behind that. Hopefully you find Rose soon.
Thank you, and yes... that's a bit of an inside joke. It's a nod to a comment someone left on a prior video.
"Unsubscribing! Too much crap off the bike." 😂
Some how I don't see Chad talking Rose into a multiple day hike.
I'm with her!
Just wait until the next episode!!! 😬
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets 🤔😮
Stay with the gal that you brought to the dance. That off bike crap is a large part of why your followers are subscribed
Ha ha ha... no worries, we're gonna dance until the cops come! That was a nod to a comment someone left on a prior video.
"Unsubscribing! Too much crap off the bike."
It's become a bit of an inside joke between Rose and I... 😅
We think the ancients didn’t have a lot of tech, but they had brains like ours. I remember a bunch of archeologists scratching their head about how in the Orkney island the oldies moved huge stone slabs from miles away to build their burial mounds. Well an old farmer came upon the discussion and he showed them as there was no trees to make rollers he said they would have used soapy seaweed the old guys showed the techs and he did it.
It is truly astonishing what they were able to accomplish with nothing but a few tools, man power, and A LOT of ingenuity. We are truly a species with amnesia, who have forgotten where we've come from, and how we got here...
Has anyone else noticed that Rose has a bit of a Jack Sparrow stlye to her walk?
Not a bad thing, kinda cool
9:56
Bwaa ha ha....yeah, she does that "out of control, hands flailing over her head" quite a bit...
Hate to break it to you, Chad, but you can't hold a candle to Rose as narrator. She's the best and you better put up a whole lot more than 10 bucks!
Trust me, you're not telling me anything I don't already know! But fear not, Rose is back in the hot seat, laying down a voiceover for our next video as I type.
She turned herself in and collected the $10... 😉
The masons of today should take note of the prescion of that stonework
Mighty impressive
Damn near impossible... even today!! 🤔
$10 reward? Dunno…seems a little steep to me 😂
I shall spare no expense in my search for Rose!!!! 😃
If they cut all the big rocks to be the same size, like the Egyptians did, I'd say that with a whole lot of sweat and elbow oil, it could be done. But fitting these irregular blocks so perfectly as if they were cut with a laser, without having a crane and an actual laser at their disposal, is impossible. Therefore I conclude that Machu Picchu does not actually exist. Thanks for the entertaining video nevertheless 🙂
I tend to agree. It probably is all an illusion!! Otherwise, I'm not sure how to explain it... 😁 Thanks for watching !!
everything great but again a lot of walking 😁🤣
Ha ha ha... Rose's sentiments exactly!! 😁
The episode highlights examples of religious syncretism, illustrating the blending of Christian beliefs with local spiritual practices in the region. A similar fusion can be observed in Nepal, where Hinduism intertwines with distinctive animistic traditions.
Not uncommon when those who have conquered or colonized a land try to ease the indigenous population into integrating with their belief system.
It's certainly makes for some interesting rituals!!
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Interesting analysis albeit these are sovereign systems/nation states where the spectacle seems authentic or not enforced by religious fundamentalist authority, but exists as a post colonial phenomenon and so maybe an interesting ritual to observe and document for the record. Nice work!
@italogiardina8183 I don't doubt that it occurs as a natural adaptation or sociocultural evolution, but much in the way that Christianity introduced Chistmas to replace the pagan celebration of the winter solstice and Easter to replace the Spring Equinox, what starts as a "cultural coup" of sorts, is usually / eventually adopted over time.
A similar example can be observed in the way Easter is celebrated here in the United States. Easter is a Christian celebration of the resurrection of Christ. However, the Easter "mascot," so to speak, is the bunny, which represents the rebirth of the spring equinox.
Most people have no idea what chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs have to do with Jesus Christ...
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Yeah a “cultural coup” through political economy that influenced historically and still influences lived experience now, and so fundamental choices are shaped through these legacy institutions in syncretisms of sorts that do unconsciously bias those dominant past structures that oppressed primal religious practices.

Gotta tell ya. Yer wife does a much better job of narrating than you do, but then again I guess you already know ;P
I had a sneaking suspicion, but that suspicion has since been confirmed... 😃
