My favourites by far are Duchess War, Unclaimed, and This Wicked Gift by Courtney Milan, Dark Needs At Night's Edge by Kresley Cole (I am so glad I'm reading this series!), Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne, The Texan's Wager by Jodi Thomas, and Love In the Wild by Emma Castle. And I am so glad to have more recommendations like this 🙂 I really need to start the Psy-Changeling and Bridgerton series' now.

I totally understand that. The plus side is, the first book really can be read a s a standalone. So you could just start there and see how it goes by for you. And she does break all of her books into Parts, so it is digestible. Maybe if you read it on ebook it wouldn't be as overwhelming?

Hello and welcome! Jess is amazing and I am so grateful to her! I actually recently made a video about how I have read 500+ books this year. It was earlier in October.. But the quick answer is that I read in many formats and COVID has kept me home for 9 months... haha. I have no life.
For the first book. Do I have to read the first 3 books before? Or the Bridgerton series to understand? Also a question. A lot of people recommend historical romance books that are like the 3rd or 4th in a series. Is it always necessary to read the books before it or can we read them as a stand alone?
In general, Historical Romance series can be read in any order. There will probably be slight spoilers for previous couples in the series (i.e. who ends up together.) But in romance... people getting together isn't exactly a spoiler. Haha! So it's really up to you as the reader if you care. Because each story itself will have all the info it needs to work.:)

LOLs. I love the women and I will always be a fan, but she is a romance snob. I think she just doesn't want her story pigeon-holed. But I understand that, since Romance never gets enough respect. But her book was runner up for the greatest read... so who cares where it fits? Its awesome

I'm looking forward to Fated Mates covering it this season! Friends who have only watched the show are shocked to hear it too. Or that Scottish Historicals don't sell as much (this fact still saddens me so).
