A bit of wisdom from an old lady. A PROPER apology consists of: I'm sorry becsuse..., followed by them trying to make things right with their actions, and finally, learning the lesson so it doesht happen again. For example: My ex: Was a cheating, emotionally abusive, asshat. But never ONCE said sorry for hurting me (even when he knew he fucked up) "I'm sorry, but..." is NOT an apology. And he never did anything to try make things right agsin/heal the pain he caused. So the behaviour just kept repeating itself. My current partner: When he started a very heated argument over something small (because his anxiety wouldnt stop picking at it), and he ended saying some pretty nasty things - he sent a very expensive & to beautiful apology bouquet of pink and yellow roses the very next day to my house (with an accompanying apology card). But he also talked to a his doctor and started counselling for his anxiety and anger issues, meaning, there hasn't been a similar incident since
