@Littlemisshavoc Occasionally, when I find myself saying one thing but then doing another, I hear a Howard-esque narrator outlining my inevitable failure.
How is it that Arrested Development was cancelled when shows like Two and A Half Men and Everybody Loves Raymond are still on the air? One of the only true comedies television has ever seen... gone. Bring it back!
Ever since I discovered Arrested Development, it's completely beyond me why anyone would ever make a comedy with a laugh track anymore. I can't even watch sitcoms that have them nowadays, it makes me cringe.
FYI: Arrested development was not forced off the air because of bad ratings, the show's creator Michael Hurwitz decided to end it because he didn't want the quality to decline like every other show on TV. You guys should be glad AD ended while it was still perfect, and didn't putter out on a whimper. 53 eps at that standard of quality is unheard of, there was not one dud in the entire collection. I'm glad they had the discipline to end it right, unlike some other shows. *cough*HIMYM*cough*
The shows was ahead of it's time. Look at all the successful shows now. They all followed in the footsteps of Arrested Development. Goddamn, it was just too good for this dumbass country.
i hate saying this out loud ( so to say), but this show will never come back, they all are professional and have moved on, sadly, even though this show is easily a top 5 sitcom ever, if not the best ever.
everybody loves raymond has been "off the air" in awhile.....its still on tv because its on syndication....now i have no idea how two and a half men is still going on
Some of it may come down to marketing. When this show was airing I was 10 years old and had NO idea it was on. Don't remember seeing any adds for it. Nothing. Shame too, because it is an awesome show.
Anyone who asks... how come this show was cancelled? Well at LEAST it got 3 seasons... Firefly only got one! :( I honestly believe FOX doesn't know how to handle brilliant shows, they don't understand them.
In a bittersweet way, I'm glad the show only lasted 3 seasons, as to avoid "jumping the shark." You can only catch lighting in a bottle for so long. Looking forward to the movie!!!
@antonio610 I feel the same way. There are too many laughs on a show like Arrested Development to have a stupid audience with fake laughter slow down the pace.
@xoomphresh i love the show but i feel that there are some very alienating elements to it. the episode i just watched was the one right after buster lost his hand. you'd expect everyone to be much more somber but the show plays it for laughs. this plus the gay cop couple might not have been very accepted by the mainstream back then.
Some speculation: The show used a good amount of in- jokes which evolved throughout multiple episodes. Sheeple couldn't understand some of the material in episodes, so they lost attention. The show used camera work that really hasn't been used for comedy/sitcoms tv shows before, almost like a documentary. Sheeple couldn't handle the change.
@Bassbait From what I've heard it got canceled entirely because of Fox, Fox is becoming infamous for ruining television shows by constantly changing the time the show is supposed to air, playing episodes out of order, coming up with schedules that don't make sense. Arrested Development has a lot of long running humor but I was able to get into it in the middle of season two. If AR was canceled for that reason then hour long dramas wouldn't stand a chance.
Unfortunately, one of the main reasons was because Two and a Half Men was on in the same time slot (Which wasn't an awful show) but after the Charlie Sheen thing, TaaHM is most likely not going to take off. So basically we had possibly one of the funnest shows of all time, get torn off the air because a semi-funny not very original show had more viewers, because it's full of penis jokes.
"The general americans"? 1) The network wasn't advertising it and continually moved its time slot. 2) I notice you capitalized Portugal. Folks like yourself complain that us Americans don't show your countries enough respect, and then you go out of your way to disrespect us. Can't have it both ways.
the way they filmed AD is brilliant. Every shake of the camera fits the scene perfectly; its pretty amazing.
@Littlemisshavoc Occasionally, when I find myself saying one thing but then doing another, I hear a Howard-esque narrator outlining my inevitable failure.
After watching AD, I can never not think about it when I hear his voice.
"At no point were Michael and Maeby talking about the same person, and there were only four people in their group."

"The Kardashians are on their 6th season and Arrested Development only had 3. This is why we can't have nice things"
GREAT interview! The show is phenomenal and I couldn't be happier it's coming back.

They are bringing it back everybody! Filming began August 7, 2012 and the new season will be out early 2013!
@costapasta80
He (Ron Howard) get's a lot of credit for creating Arrested Development - Mitchell Hurwitz deserves way more cerdit.
Mr. F was the sole reason the show ended.
The Arrested Development movie was just confimed today! Along with a limited 9-10 episode season, leading up to the movie! Life is good.
They're bringing back our Bluths!

arrested development should turn into a webseries

For British Eyes only o__O
...you ask, you shall receive...it's coming back =)
@xoomphresh Good news, her wish is granted, new episodes will be shot in 2012.
it's returning next summer
why this show go cancelled after 3 seasons is beyond me. best series ever! too clever for america haha
The general americans can't understand the show. I'm from Portugal and if I was rich I would pay myself for more 6 seasons.

We all know that there is money in the banana stand, but can it blend?
Two words. SPINAL TAP!
@xoomphresh youre nanna is awesome.
@link182ava44 You've never seen Ron Howard before this video?
@xoomphresh Arrested Development failed in America but the ENTIRE world treasured it! So this movie will happen!
@burton9873 same here!
For the record, "EdTV" was not created before reality television existed...

@UncleT0ny
Mistah Eff...
What was the other true comedy, in your opinion?

Idk, I don't think they're that similar...
@phillyx86x =[ I live in that country
@link182ava44 wtf
The show was too smart for a country that was too dumb to understand it. That was it's only problem
jesus christ look at him touch his face, what could he possibly be lying about?!
