me acuerdo cuando el gran campeon Arguello visito El Salvador y peleo contra nuestro Chico Aparicio,Alexis siempre te recordaremos, sos el orgullo de los Centroamericanos, descansa en paz.
La verdad es que Ruben Olivares, siendo mas pequeño de estatura, de mas edad, y su carrera en declive pues sus mejores ya habian pasado hiso ver muy mal por momentos a Alexis Arguello. Si Ruben Olivares no hubiese sido tan borracho y preparadose antes de cada pelea como todo un profesional el final de esta pelea hubiese tenido otro final.

I think in this fight Olivares demonstrates why he was an all-time great fighter. He's fighting a much bigger, stronger and younger man--and a terrific fighter--in Alexis Arguello. Ruben wasn't even in his prime and he gave Arguello all he could handle here. He boxed beautifully, was crafty inside and out, and threw some wicked shots that rattled Alexis' brain. Great fight.
You're right, Olivares' two wins over the Schoolboy were big. He beat him in '73 and then two years later demolished him in two rounds when Bobby was on a seven-fight kayo win streak. Bobby was great but Ruben was an all-time great.

@Kedbuka And the fact that Olivares would knock out a prime Chacon showed why Olivares was so spectacular. Arguello was only 22 here and very green here, but Olivares did box brilliantly in the beginning.

@cutepirana I agree would have been a great fight. Made at lightweight I would think Duran but at superfeatherweight or featherweight Arguello. For me Arguello v Buchanan would have been another great fight.

Olivares to me is the best bantamweight of all time and would have beaten Eder Jofre and Fighting Harada. Olivares was just a remarkable fighter.
