  • original lamps are 8V150mA, I used 6V-200mA, it's the same thing. like 4V-300mA would be
    A nice strong performer with good build quality.

    Thanks for the review. I'm about to purchase an Akai AA-1150 in Australia for $130 and it's in near mint condition. Everything works and it's coming from a retired man looking to sell his belongings.
    I would have preferred the AA-1175 or AA-1200 but it's a hard find.
    Keep up the great videos.

    I bought this unit brand new in college around 1978 or so. I still have it and although I rarely use it, it's in perfect condition and sounds great (for a vintage receiver). Great product and nice review!

    Geweldige tuner heb onlangs de aa 1050 van mijn vader gekregen. Hij had hem nieuw gekocht in 1979 en werkt nog steeds als een malle

    Let me say something;
    I have this beauty, plus a Sony STR11S and a Harman Kardon HK3380, and really;
    I do not change it, it is richer, more authoritarian, clearer and without "grain" than the other two.
    It even feels more powerful than the Harman despite having 25 watts less per channel.
    Akai manufactured products that even today, could be defined as "reference".
    Thank you in advance for your attention.

    I have the AA-1175. Amazing amp, very under-rated receiver. I had a Sansui 9090db which is insane amount of power. I built custom copies of JBL SR4732X speakers and the Sansui would blast those speakers like an outdoor concert. I connected the Akai AA-1175 to the same custom speakers I built and the sound is much more tame. Not weak at all, serious power behind it, but it is much more of a listening room receiver with enough power on tap to make my speakers vibrate the picture frames hanging on the walls when I wish to turn it up. I can't speak highly enough about the Akai AA-1175.

    When you have to replace the bulbs use 8volt 300ma bulbs, you have to solder them and there are only 3 lamps for the complete layout, these lamps are easy to find, when you can't find 8volt 300ma bulbs you can for example also use 6volt 400ma ore 12 volt 200ma as long the wattage come close to 2,4

    Just wanted to mention your AA-1150 receiver. 50wpc, THD 0.1%, S/N 80db phono, 90db line, high/low filters, twin tuning meters, variable FM mute, bidirectional tape dubbing and a separate record out selector. Nice audio component, very nice receiver for a medium powered system.

    I have the AA-1175 and I see no backlight for the FM/AM panel. Was there originally one or does the AA-1175 use only the two rectangular signal strength and tuning lights for the entire face of the receiver.
    I want to replace all the lights on the receiver. Any advice on what I should get would be appreciated.

    I have just ordered one of these in good condition, my dad used to have one and I loved the sound, how does the aa-1150 compare to the a-1175 in terms of sound quality?

    pal u a talking too much... instead - just set the same values to both to use the same source and present how they go soundwise-thats it .guess no one needs your personal admiration, etc...
