All they had to do is to reduce the surface area of the paper. Friction is not the only force here acting against the motion of the paper. The upward force on the paper and on the book due to air pressure are nearly the same as they have similar surface area when both of them are held horizontally before dropping. The weight of the paper pulling it downward is far less than that of the book. Thus, in this case the total downward force on the book is higher. That's why the book fell faster. Also, there is this factor of viscous drag of air as it is a fluid. Even when the paper is held vertically it experiences substantial viscous drag at the two surfaces ( both printable sides). This lessens the net downward acceleration but not as much as in the earlier case. Thus it falls faster this time. When balled up, the paper experiences minimum viscous drag as in this has lowest surface area. Thus, in this case the highest net downward acceleration is experienced and it falls the fastest amongst all experiments.
It seems less even after watching it again and again 🏆❣️ I regret that I did not get a teacher like you sir ❤ If I had got a teacher like you then I would have gone for engineering field instead of general competition😔
