Q-Max brand cutters still seem to be available. Also clones and imitations. There are times I've attacked sheet metal with drills and files when those would have been useful
interesting..the original bal-ami version is different to the ami version, it used a GZ34 rectifier, there were changes to the volume control circuit, there was no hum balance pot it used centre tapped transformer referenced to the EL34 cathodes the output transformer is the original ultra linier one, its not been changed...think your problem is you are using the wrong schematic!
