  • McKinley Mall. My first stop in Buffalo NY. A dead mall in the making? Or just going through a phase? With Ace's Adventures by our side, let's find out.

Hopefully this video will remain on RUclips forever so that I won't forget what it looked like. That mall practically MADE my childhood. I remember back when there was both a gamestop and EB store in it at the same time. And my parents would often go to the Payless Shoe Store to get shoes. Not to mention all those countless times we went to Sears for some new house hold items. It all seemed so new and fancy back then. We would occasionally buy these delicious brown sugar and cinnamon pretzels. The chinese restaurant at the food court used to serve some delicious food when it was still there. Now the whole court is closed due to corona. I have thought about completely rebuilding this mall in an online videogame to preserve the memories at some point. But I'm not sure what game. I was trying to decide between Halo 6's forge and Fortnite's creative. Both of which would make for great maps.

Ugh..... post-Arby's, that food court's worse off than ever. When I go through Buffalo, I avoid this mall and just go to Eastern Hills at this point.

Macy's acquiring Kaufmann's (and then closing stores for not bringing in what they expected) is what killed a bunch of these Western New York malls (Eastern Hills most notably).
The attached cinema you mentioned isn't a Regal or anything, it's the kind of bargain Cinema that plays movies between their theatrical release and its coming to DVD for a few dollars. Its clean, cheap and fun and all, but that's really what it is, and I'd be sad to see it go too.
Also last time I was there it was 4:15 on a day when the Mall closed at 9 and New Age Creations was temporarily closed for some reason. Was reminded of that when the store's logo was on camera and thought it was funny.

I always wished the theater had a mall entrance for easier access, but it's outside only.

You could see Downtown from the hills. If people are wondering the exact town is Hamburg, NY. The mall isn't far from the fairgrounds and New Era Field. Watching this walkthrough REALLY saddens me as I used to come to this mall. There used to be KB Toys where Old Navy is, Gamestop used to be in the mall, the food court was bigger, there was a fountain, there used to be a really big arcade right at the exit near Auntie Anne's, the used to be a Disney Store, there used to be a nice pet store too. I remember when the Dark Pit amiibo came out and I waited outside of Besy Buy for 2 hours and made friends that day. I did the same when the Falco amiibo was being released. Great memories going to KB Toys with my grandma, going to Barnes and Noble with my uncle Friday nights. I used to eat Dairy Queen when it was there. I used to also hang out there with my friend Tim. Watching this mall die is painful. I'm not gonna lie. I'll miss this mall along with Boulevard Mall and Eastern Hills Mall.

I remember all of that too! Malls all over are going under. If this one goes the next one is galleria they've already closed the SEARS over there as well. The future is looking bleak even without COVID19.

I really, really like this mall, Dooms, and you're right about it looking better than it might otherwise appear, were it not for all those big 'ol gaps where the anchor stores oughtta reside. STILL, if Marley Station and Military Circle can be kept going -- albeit on life support -- why not THIS place? I hope you're wrong in the long term, but KNOW you're not...Love 'ya, Dooms!

So what does “Fast Eddy” expect to do with these Sears and Kmart stores? He “saved” the company from bankruptcy but yet he continues to close them in chunks. He seems so shady. If I was Sears president or ceo I’d try everything I could to renovate the remaining stores. Also try to make the online business grow more.

He doesn't care about the company all he cares about is the money and the more stores he closes the more money he makes

Great video. I don't think the food court is esthetically pleasing or goes with the mall also. Thanks for filming.

1:01 is that the discolored carpet, or was it the black carpet near a random cash register?

I just went to McKinley mall today and it was pretty busy, it tends to be its busiest on weekends but it’s still a pretty dead mall. Its sad cause I grew up with this mall and now coming here especially on weekdays feels depressing

I love this mall but it seems like it's going to die and there's nothing we can do about. The bad publicity isn't helping either. I remember a time when there were no empty spots in the mall it was pretty cool. I wonder if they'll tear the place down when all the stores finally go under or will they'll just pad lock the whole place down forever.

Fast Eddie tried to keep Granite Run alive by keeping Sears at their mall open

Perhaps that "ax service" means that store is about to get the Fast Eddie AX? That mall looks like it has an anchor problem? Ace puts out good videos too. New Age creations? That looks like a Bath and Body works?
