well my swedish decanter has soaked for two days in clean away kettle descale powder it worked good on the cloudy stains on the first overnight soak but the deep acid marks were still there i soaked for a second night in clean away and the deep marks have faded but still there may give it a third soak in clean away not sure yet as the vanish oxi clean worked on my whiskey glass i was testing boom one shot cleaned the cloudy marks and the deep stain marks must admit though the deep stains in my whisky decanter wasn't as bad as the swedish decanters i will sanitise my whiskey decanter tonight and soak the swedish decanter in vanish tonight great result with vanish

Kevin - what is a rough estimate of cost when having a decanter mechanically polished? I have a Raymond Ward safari decanter that I would like to have done - but as the value is not above possibly £70 I don't know if it would be worth doing>?

The decanter I got done was £16. I have no idea what it costs elsewhere.

been talking to a fella who says he uses scale away appliance descaler powder form as it's easier to drop into the bottle then he tops up the bottle with warm water and lets it soak overnight the descaler has similar acids in it that the polishers use he then puts warm water and equal amount of bleech and lets it sanitise the bottle overnight then he says he'll use a brewing sanitiser after the 15 minute soak he'll rinse and dry the bottle then pour a glass of cheep vodka into the bottle put the lid on shake it up as the alcohol will do a clean he said he'll then pour out the vodka and fill the decanter with whiskey or whatever i'm going to try it on my reijmyre swedish decater will let you know the outcome

Whether or not it works depends on whether it’s scale or bloom. There’s only one way to be sure, so try your descaler first, and try not to cry if it doesn’t work. If it is bloom and you can’t shift it, filling it with booze is a way of hiding it.

cant it just have the acid put inside and then tipped out to leave the outside the same as it was?

The word I heard for the process is dipped. I’ve never seen it done, but apparently it’s really dangerous stuff. Even the people in the factory that handle it don’t like it.

Could I get an email for the Restorers please. The one I tried does not work.
It would be good to see more of the work he does. It is good advertising for him as I am a customer if I can contact him😀👍The stopper repair was good to watch and I would like to see how he deals with the snapped stopper end. Thanks

I’ve sent my Georgian carafe into Loverage’s based on your video. Overnight in Steradent did nothing. Andy tells me the interior polishing process takes 2 weeks of constant tumbling!

Oh no, the pressures on me for him to do it right. Over the years he’s done about 20 of mine only one didn’t work out and that one was totalled buggered inside. I think someone had been cleaning it with a pick axe. He couldn’t shift gouges.

@@lovedecanters7891 mine is only moderate in haziness - I’m sure it will be great. It’s sat in an unloved cloudy state for years so please to have found your video.
