SuperSaf TV i have been using it for a week and like it very much. The only thing that bothered me that while watching RUclips, it's full screen is just like other phones without notch.
Just sold my S9 plus and bought this, and I have a few reasons for this: better battery under same usage pattern (and I mean really better, like now I am at 30 standby hours and 7 SOT); notification badges dont disappear after you swipe them off from the tray; camera is better for my needs and personal prefference; flat screen, curved ones are becoming really annoying; high volume notifications, S9 unfortunately I couldnt hear.
Satisfied Boi storage is more than enough, at 128 gigs. Performance is absolutely fine, I couldnt notice anything diferrent from S9. It work and moves just fine. If course it doesnt do all the Samsung tricks, for instance you cannot swipe to call or reverse swipe to send sms, but it has other tricks , so it should be fine
Saf, you're very well spoken and informative and honest about the devices you review. I love the fact that you don't review just the 1000$ phones only, you cover the whole spectrum of the devices. I have yet to see one of your videos that I have not enjoyed.

got one in the USA running on ATT been loving it. you can take the notch off and just have a black bar at the top. i miss having a headphone jack but bought for the cameras so im happy, also battery life is awesome
I got the Twilight version and to me, this reviewer seems to be the most unbiased i have seen so far. The guy finally earned my subscribe. Quality content with interesting and honest feedback, that's it.
I think out of all the reviews I watched of the P20 Pro, yours was the most honest and detailed that most tech RUclipsrs didn't even bother to mention, like those camera settings that comes standard out of the box. This is why using a phone for an extensive period of time more than just a few days to a few weeks is necessary to give a better review. Keep it up, Saf :)
I've had this phone for 2 months now and I absolutely love having the navigation functionality within the fingerprint sensor. It's generally an excellent phone and it came with a factory installed screen protector and a clear case in the box
Hide notch & remove on screen buttons, takes about a day to get use to using fingerprint scanner instead of on screen buttons. Big clear screen, 4000 battery, 128 memory, great cameras, ip67 waterproof, fast charging plus comes with fast charger, screen protector & a case in the box 👍🏻

I know you are a Samsung fan boy.I think p20 is better is terms of camera,software, battery and design. S9 is better is terms of display, performance. Huawei always release their new processors in the end of the year so performance isn't matter. Kirin 970 isn't bad at all, regular performance is better than SD 845.

Light Vader you should check all of his video first. Samsung and Apple isn't upgrading their phones with new technology. Dual aperture feature are totally gimmick, most of the time makes no difference. My younger brother use a Samsung device, day to day is becomes slower .On the other hand Chainess smartphone brand are growing so fast with their new innovative technology.

Great video SuperSaf. The Huawei P20 looks great, but I'm still happy I went for the S9+. The low light performance in pro mode can really take the S9+ to a next level, and I think it can compete with the P20 pro.

As impressed as I have been with the P20 reviews I steered clear because I had the "fuzzy" camera issue with my Huawei P10. A LOT of users ran into this issue that you fix temporarily by smacking the camera. For that reason I decided to go with the LG G7+ ThinQ (and the wide angle lens). Hopefully the P20 does not run into the issue that affected the P10.
I found a nice clear case. It's not perfect. But it is very functional. After using it for 6 months the scratches are very noticeable but, my phone looks brand spanking new out of the case. Not a single flaw anywhere. Case = Ringke

How is it that the SD835 gets a year long life but you demand only a 6 month life for the Kirin?? Also it looks like you haven't really used it as it looks like stock out the box, no apps installed and custom set up etc

I'm not a fan of the chin at all especially the fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone, there's no point having the button on the front taking up valuable space, especially when there's the need for a notch, nice video bruh road to 1 Mili
Well to be fair only AMOLED can curve their displays to make the chin disappear (also it costs a ton to fabricate a phone like that) however the regular uses a LCD display and as mentioned earlier only an AMOLED can bend. My assumption would be that Huawei wanted to make all the phones the same.
I couldn't live with the fingerprint sensor at the back. When it's at the front, you can wake up your device using it, which is great. No need to pick it up.
Actually, that button is the best thing of the phone. At last I can quickly unlock my phone at my desk instead of having to either input password or put my face at the range of the front camera. On top of that, you can use it for navigation and its extremely responsive and accurate recognizing gestures. That fingerprint sensor is a homerun
So Saf, after figuring out how to disable "Beauty Mode" for selfies, how do the 1080p pics look vs. the 720p?? Can you make a quick statement about that please? Does the loss of stabilization (is it completely off?) cancel out the bump in resolution? Please explain. Thanks!!
For someone having used this phone for a month you failed to mention some key features that might turn out to be a dealbreaker for me and possibly others. For one, the over-hyped Leica camera is pretty useless in both Auto and Night mode. The oversharpening makes the photos basically useless, you get huge auras around contrasted objects in the photo. The only mode you don't get the oversharpening is in Pro mode, but then you don't get the expanded dynamic range of the Night mode. So overall the camera is no better or more useful than in any recent Samsung phone. Another key feature is when you empty the battery completely. A Samsung will start up after just a minute or two on charge, while the P20 Pro has now been charging for a full 25 minutes and it will still not boot due to low battery. This is unacceptable. So after watching a ton of reviews from big reviwers I'm pretty disappointed that none of you guys mentioned these pretty important things about this phone. Fortunately I have a 14 day window where I can return the phone or replace it with a different brand but I feel sorry for people in countries that don't have these consumer rights. I really really wanted to love this phone but not being able to use it after half an hour of charging, plus the sub par photographic software, I'm going to swap it for the S9.
Thank you SuperSaf for not glossing over some of the things that are not so great on this device , and also mentioning the omitted features , Some of the reviewers out there tend to be a bit lacking in pointing out the bad as well as the good . Getting off the P20 subject for a second , i came across anatutu results on the web (sorry i neglected to save the link )for the mate 20 with the 980 against the current flagships , i dont know if the results where fake or not , but if they are true , the mate 20 variants are going to absolutely wipe the floor with all comers a bit later in the year imo . And this imo , is another reason to not buy the P20 with its last years chip set.
That's the reason to buy it..£37 unlimited internet and tethering.. Unlimited calls and texts and no upfront fee..i used 240gb tethering in two months.. It's a bargain now..

hi saf, thanks for the long term review. can you please confirm a few things to me? 1. the display on lowest brightness become a yelloish tint on the bottom. 2. the display on lowest brightness has tearing between black and grey colors. 3. the screen is not very precise by scrolling and when cropping pictures for example (i have to move my finger ~1mm before the screen react) 4. the phone can not replay voice messages received or sent by the signal app. I love my P20Pro but these sings annoying me a lot, because of the high price and i think i may got a faulty unit. thanks for your help. have nice weekend and all the best.
Seems like they really invested a lot into the camera alone , kind of like a one trick pony , but on the bright side , now we know that they have perfected the camera, and hopefully with the input from reviewers such as yourself and the consumers , Huawei can build a solid device later on this year .
Headphone jack? Which phone do you use as your daily driver that comes with a headphone jack then? Also, wireless charging is good but why is it so important to you when the battery life can easily last you more than a day
I would love night mode on the p20 to be compared to the s9 running on a 1 or 2 second exposure That exposure time isn't so long so shake wouldn't be an issue The s9 is better in low light in than the p20 in auto mode The F 1.5 aperature also means that it doesn't need a 4 sec exposure to match night mode in the p20 I tried to shoot a long exposure on the s9 in one of Samsung's low light demos and it didn't look so bad So S9 F1.5 + 1 or 2 sec exposure VS P20 F1.8 + night mode (4sec exposure) Now the battle is fair
Exactly, I have an S9+ and I was able to capture the buildings outside of my apartment in the middle of the night (everything was pitch black). But in Pro Mode, by tuning the settings, I was able to get an exposure time of about 6 seconds. The images were simply stunning. Yes there was some noise in the RAW file (that was removed in the JPEG file), but I was even able to distinguish the cement between the tiles. And the colours were remarkably accurate.
Abdurrahman Alchoughri 1 second is even too long handheld, but you could place it against another building or bench or something do you only have to stabilize one axis instead of two.
Jonathan Breyer The s9 already has a 0.5 exposure time in auto mode So the 1 sec exposure time won't be a big deal especially considering the s9 can stitch more than 12 pictures into one
I have the P20 Pro, my other option was the S9+, I have vowed never to own a Samsung device ever. I did it once... never again, my girlfriend wants to throw her S8+ against the wall on a daily basis. I'll live with the minor shortcomings of the P20 pro any day.
Balanced comments..I have this phone.. appreciate the front camera 1080p tip..the phone is stunning in all areas, esp the camera but damn I miss the headphone jack (it cannot be beaten for everyday convenience). Start a campaign to save it!?!
It is very strange that it is not avaliable in Twilight in the UK, I bought the Twilight variant form Elkjop here in Norway. Elkjop is owned by Dixons wich is a UK company.

Unfortunately had to take black one. Love twilight colour but I throw a case on pretty much every smartphone so got over it.

I would love night mode on the p20 to be compared to the s9 running on a 1 or 2 second exposure
That exposure time isn't so long so shake wouldn't be an issue
The s9 is better in low light in than the p20 in auto mode
The F 1.5 aperature also means that it doesn't need a 4 sec exposure to match night mode in the p20
I tried to shoot a long exposure on the s9 in one of Samsung's low light demos and it didn't look so bad
So
S9 F1.5 + 1 or 2 sec exposure
VS
P20 F1.8 + night mode (4sec exposure)

Exactly, I have an S9+ and I was able to capture the buildings outside of my apartment in the middle of the night (everything was pitch black). But in Pro Mode, by tuning the settings, I was able to get an exposure time of about 6 seconds. The images were simply stunning. Yes there was some noise in the RAW file (that was removed in the JPEG file), but I was even able to distinguish the cement between the tiles. And the colours were remarkably accurate.

Abdurrahman Alchoughri 1 second is even too long handheld, but you could place it against another building or bench or something do you only have to stabilize one axis instead of two.

The s9 already has a 0.5 exposure time in auto mode
So the 1 sec exposure time won't be a big deal especially considering the s9 can stitch more than 12 pictures into one

I have the P20 Pro, my other option was the S9+, I have vowed never to own a Samsung device ever. I did it once... never again, my girlfriend wants to throw her S8+ against the wall on a daily basis. I'll live with the minor shortcomings of the P20 pro any day.
