I am so sick of trends & people telling me what I am supposed to like. If you have no interest in design fine, but everyone should be doing what they feel comfortable with when it comes to their own home.
My home is filled with what I like. That’s how I decorate and have always been told my home is cozy, warm and inviting. It’s supposed to be a place where your family feels the safest, secure, wanted and loved. It’s not just for those little squares posted on social media. Be original!!!!
This is absolutely NOT Modern Farmhouse. This is what many call Modern Organic. It’s modern nod is softened with natural wood tones, rustic vases, neutral wood flooring and rugs, soft color palates with some black accenting
Give it a couple of months to a year and they're going to tell you that this look is out. Honestly, just have your home the way it makes you happy and call it a day.
Thank you! This was by FAR the most information packed, helpful interior design reel I have EVER watched and my feed is full of ID. I hit the subscribe button, you are my favorite by far!! Thank you!!!
What??? You mean beige, cream, taupe, khaki, grey, mushroom, tan, off white, linen, stone, mud etc… just aren’t doing it for you? I agree. Color, ANY color. And for the love of all that is holy, let your children have color. Spray painting their toys beige ox INSANE!!!
@danielleS257 I totally agree. I love this style and I have it in my home, but I think it's important to display your children's colorful artwork throughout the house too. I have many walls all over my home with my kids art mixed in with pieces I chose for myself. It's fun for all of us and when people visit, it brings them joy too.
@@meganc3090 🤣. I’m very lucky to have an actual artist from Civil War era in my family. Works hang in museums around the world and I have my kids art everywhere. The 2 paintings by Uncle Willie always get comments but far and away my kids art STILL gets the most love. I have an entire gallery wall of art class art work. Beautiful shapes & colors. Now I’m adding grandkids art pieces. Just as spectacular. I have a base of neutrals, white, khaki, creams but pillows, art & curtains add the color I need. I am all for being you & not necessarily following trends as gospel and if you really love grey & beige, rock on. If you’re doing it b/c every influencer did it and filled it up with Amazon b/c it’s their job, that’s kind of sad. And forcing children into griege life by spray painting their colorful toys beige, it makes me sad for them. Yay for kid art 👏👏👏!!!
@danielleS257 😃 that's so awesome to have an artist in the family! But I totally agree, I love the base of beige, Creams, khaki, and adding color in other ways like you said. Makes it easier to switch out the colors if you get tired of one! I'm enjoying Burgundy, mauve, and green currently. 🥰
@@meganc3090 it is. Not sure how he’d feel if he knew the kids art works get as much ooh & awe as his but he’s loonnnggg gone so no need for me to worry. 🤣. Yes, the neutral base makes it easier to do holidays. Not so easy with my black Great Dane but…. We live at the beach so lots of blues & greens in lots of shades.
Julie, thank you for this. Do you have a Pinterest page with all this snapshots? This is great. Curated cottage chic. Evolved. Elevated. Elegant. Love it.
I live in an 1890s farmhouse. I don’t have any corny decor. Just a house with traditional style and character. I love my traditional kitchen I hope it’s still in “style” in 50 years cause I wouldn’t change a thing.
Those upscale cottage (definitely not beach cottage) rooms are beautiful and I personally love that look, but I’d still have a couple of modern farmhouse rooms in the mix (without the word art) for reference and segue. Specifically I don’t like the all dark walnut kitchen, I’d still prefer some white and a mix of neutrals with a pop of color in the kitchen.
The thing about this style is that look like a show case. Please add a couple of vintage pieces and something that reflects the farm. Everything is new!!!
If I am to critique this video I would say that we see too much commentary and too little farmhouse, some of the images are flashed up onto the screen for a millisecond, too bad!
Step one: repaint the cabinets and walls. Step 2: have a rug thats traditional instead of white. Step three: get a dark flannel/plaid throw blanket. Poof. Your factory style home is relevant for another 10 years without a gut remodel or having to buy new hardware
I feel like this has been the trend for years and years because American was like “whoa Europe has amazing style”…… *blink blink* Americans : “let’s steal it “
I do like the "modern cottage" style basically the North European style that's been going around for a long time. Definitely not some new trend, and I am just so tired of people telling me what to do. I will for sure click the dislike button
There’s no difference. It’s marketing. Don’t fall for it. Cottages are classic and originate in European countries such as France, Ireland, England, Italy, etc.
The style in the US is so commercialized that has taken away the real beauty that we have. I just came from France after seven years and trust me this is no out there nor is in England. I have in the business for over 40 years. Is not in the city or the country.
Almost none of that had cottage vibes. It's weird that the modern chic ladies are even jumping on the cottage core bandwagon since it's mostly RPG, Medieval, Viking, and Hobbit nerds that were into it.
It is not about you and them and Sue and Tim and Joey and who and what and Tuck, people should decorate the way they want after all these styles are not the decorators ideas but every day people from everywhere all over the world and they take from people and say that they came with this and that is mostly a lie and they want big money for what???!!! Something that was already there !!!!! People will make you poor for what they call their career, it is important to know yourself and be truthful with yourself, do what you like and be unique!!!!!! And stop following trends, because you are just making other people rich 🤑!!!!
If people only ever follow trends, they will have to update every room in their house every couple of years. It will look outdated quickly. Don't fall into that trap.
I dont like to see the same thing everywhere, whether it's with home, fashion, hair or anything else it's very boring! And shows a lack of talent/creativity/own ideas. (A copycat) - not cool!👎🏼
Hobby Lobby’s gonna have to shut down half of their aisles dedicated to “word art”. 😂😂😂
Ha ha😊😊
Here's a radical idea: make what you like the prevailing trend.
Been doing this for years, and have always decorated with what I like and not what is popular.
Agreed - me too - authentic - not trendy.
When are we all going to agree not to do the same thing, and then it is not overdone, and we don't feel the need to update our houses every 5 years.
I ALWAYS go for eclectic. That way, I can have what I want, instead of what you tell me to have. 😊
😅I treat everything as a neutral
I love vintage lakehouse style.
I am so sick of trends & people telling me what I am supposed to like. If you have no interest in design fine, but everyone should be doing what they feel comfortable with when it comes to their own home.
Amen!! The best answer to any talk about trends!
I agree.
Also, Having a friend who is a decorator, there’s a lot of people who do not know how to come up with ideas themselves.
She’s not telling you what you should like ,she’s only giving her opinion on what’s trending.
That’s what a “trend “ is. You can’t be serious???
@@dollydeleon1004 And I would care what she likes because...?
definitely my style, I'm not into trends, but this is me always
Just do your house the was you want it. Most People can't afford to keep switching it up

Interesting, I’ve had this “look” in my house for 20 years. I guess what’s old, is new again, comes around every 20 years !
I love the updated version. It’s very classic and will age well.
the reason I love english cottages
Classic designs that tend to look timeless is what I strive for but to each their own.😊
How about we all ignore the trends and “design” and just create living spaces that work and that we can actually enjoy
That does not look like Modern Cottage...it still looks Modern Farm House...it needs more Grandma Vibes and Color to be Cottage! ❤
I call my style "granny chic". 😊
Hay...Im Cozy and Cool! 😂❤
hence the name "Modern"
This is absolutely NOT Modern Farmhouse. This is what many call Modern Organic. It’s modern nod is softened with natural wood tones, rustic vases, neutral wood flooring and rugs, soft color palates with some black accenting
Sounds exactly the same as farmhouse.
It looks the exact same..
Because it is. 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
It's mundane and boring
So true 😆
Give it a couple of months to a year and they're going to tell you that this look is out. Honestly, just have your home the way it makes you happy and call it a day.
FARMHOUSE ELEGANCE KICKING IT UP 10 KNOTCHES.....LOVE IT!!!! ❤️
Modern farmhouse is not out. It's just evolving.
Thank you! This was by FAR the most information packed, helpful interior design reel I have EVER watched and my feed is full of ID. I hit the subscribe button, you are my favorite by far!! Thank you!!!
Beautiful. I love the warmth ❤
Decorate how YOU want !
Amen to that! Never been a fan of monochromatic design, there no life in it. Warm is life. 🙏
I’m so starved for color.

This is my style!!! I just needed the term, thank you!
I've been modern cottage the whole time and didn't know it.😂❤
It’s…the same thing. Modern farmhouse isn’t just black and white, it can incorporate different colors and tones and materials.
Ooohhh… I like this! I think it could quietly and easily flow into dark academia in personal spaces like a home office and bedrooms
The artwork is beautiful!!!💕
Julie, thank you for this. Do you have a Pinterest page with all this snapshots? This is great. Curated cottage chic. Evolved. Elevated. Elegant. Love it.
I'm thrilled! I've had this for a couple of years. It's totally unintentional, just stuff I like.
I've finally caught up.😂
We definitely can get into this updated trend.
He was lovely!
This has always been my style! Finally I'm treading! 😅
This is so me! Modern cottage ❤

Farmhouse is STILL in
I was never about the greys, the blacks and then the farmhouse
But this cottage style actually defines me well- indecisive and a bit of everything 😂
I like contrast and definitely modern cottage is more my style.
The thing about this style is that look like a show case. Please add a couple of vintage pieces and something that reflects the farm. Everything is new!!!

Loved
Well looks like I’m doing one thing “right” in life lol.
Do what you like!
I’m so glad ❤❤❤
I like it!🤩
Love it
Modern Cottage? Eh… looks familiar. 😅
I’m in love with the Cottage or Modern Cottage look.
Do you have a video on this? This short is too fast. Many thanks.
If I am to critique this video I would say that we see too much commentary and too little farmhouse, some of the images are flashed up onto the screen for a millisecond, too bad!
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Finally someone that understands me!
This is the look that fits my style!
Farmhouse, take 5!
Step one: repaint the cabinets and walls. Step 2: have a rug thats traditional instead of white. Step three: get a dark flannel/plaid throw blanket. Poof. Your factory style home is relevant for another 10 years without a gut remodel or having to buy new hardware
Looks like modern farmhouse without the word art.
❤
#UrbanCottage is what my design style gives.
...omg...I've been modern cottage for decades
I was on trend and didn't even know it.
This is MY JAM
Keyword TREND that means it’s not gonna be around very long
Hmmmm….looks exactly like farmhouse only a little smaller! 🤔🤔🤔
Gorgeous
Still modern farmhouse, just in a different font.
She lost me at neutral colors 😂😂😂 my couch is the color of her jacket
I feel like this has been the trend for years and years because American was like “whoa Europe has amazing style”…… *blink blink*
Americans : “let’s steal it “
So my style...

"Cottage"
LOVE it❤
How about some color?
:/ looks like my house but I have more eclectic stuff. I hate when it looks like I'm following trends.
This is not a trend. It has always been this way in england.. For Americans.
It might be a trend for the english. This is everyday living

Yeah. Nope. And nope.
NO GRAY
If people only ever follow trends, they will have to update every room in their house every couple of years. It will look outdated quickly. Don't fall into that trap.
Okay, I like it. But I’m done with being trendy-it’s just another form of planned obsolescence.
I love videos 🤐
What would you call it if it’s all those things, but in a Spanish colonial?
‘Cottage’ ‘Farmhouse’ Whatever, they all end up looking like the same hotel chain, and staged hotels at that 🤦♂️

Oh, so it's the exact same as before and you're just talking a bunch of nonsense
Stop spending on unnecessary “what’s in” and be content with what you have. 🙄
Yep. I always wonder about the people who constantly consume new goods and toss the old... they better not be climate activists!
So bland and cookie cutter.
Your tweaking
im not impressed
Hated farmhouse.. this is cool
Who cares?
I always follow ‘crazes’ when choosing how to live 🫤
Oh yes, me too. 😂
Love it
