My great uncle said a technique like this was actually employed by guys in Vietnam in a pinch to set up a quick temporary camp. Apparently, it was an olive drab colored saran wrap type material that came on big 3 foot long rolls for securing items stacked on pallets and whatnot. At the bottom they'd have it a little long creating a flap to cover with dirt helping keep snakes, spiders and other nasty critters away.
@@aventuraaustralia don't get me wrong, I loved your try at using a roll of plastic to make a shelter . That really got my attention and I enjoyed this video. Good job and CHEERS:)
I think I would use a simple backpacking tent still - but use the shrink wrap to make a floor/base for the tent and a roof/rainfly and that hammock sounds cool also a clothes line to dry things came to mind. You could even make something to protect wood in case of an event like you experienced.

Very interesting! I’ll have to research that for version 2
Because theres not already enough plastic in the world, why not lol
Don’t worry the plastic did not go to waste 😇
@@aventuraaustralia How so?
@@hughh106 the plastic was put to use
@@aventuraaustralia To do what?
@@hughh106 to build a cool shelter and have a fun night. Also don’t worry, I properly disposed of it in the ocean right after this ♻️
Awesome video but as your in Australia i was expecting a 4 foot long spider to turn up or huge snake😂 Keep up the amazing content buddy.
@@lordgibbington luckily they stayed away this night 😅
I would rather just bring a tent less work and less garbage to pack out. But the video was well worth the watch, good job and CHEERS:)
Gotta switch things up once in a while, also the roll of plastic was a lot cheaper than a tent 😅

Nice work if to layer down logs on the bottom you could on make a neat lean too
Definitely going to consider that for my next one
You should use the plastic for clothes as well
I was already using it as underwear so maybe next time I’ll do a shirt as well

Great idea, version 2 will have a lot of improvements
_'You live and you learn'_ *EXACTLY!*
you created how much plastic waste for one night?
I would argue that the plastic was not wasted 😎
@@aventuraaustralia then set up another camp with same plastic you cut with knife at morning.
One mans trash is indeed another mans treasure
That’s a new roll.
Ridiculous waste of plastic
Define waste
