With "diversity" in KCD2 they probably mean there won't be just Czechs, but also Polish and German people, and maybe even some Italian, Dutch, and French. Also, considering the specific period, we'll probably get representation of the Order of the Dragon as well, which means Bulgars and Romanians (maybe we'll meet the father of Dracula). And of course some Turks and Magyars. That is diversity, but it's still historically accurate. Also some religious diversity, because the Hussites are about to go crazy around this time.
@@afiiik1 Jews unlikely, most of them in the region were killed in the aftermath of the Black Death, the remaining ones mostly hid their identity. The pogroms were still ongoing until ±1450. The best chance to see a Jew would be a copy of the Waldesians quest in KCD1, which would be a little pointless. Sinti is possible, but they mostly arrived later in the century, so there wouldn't be many yet, Roma were mostly in a different region. But Romani also generally stay away from more urban regions. So broadly I wouldn't expect either of these three in the games, but it's possible.

I disagree on that. Fan feedback is a good thing. We should discuss things like the level of progressivist messaging in a particular video game, and voice our opinions when we start smelling shit in the air, because ultimately the game they're making is supposed to impress their audience enough to make them buy the game, and because you know they're facing pressure from all sides to inject progressivist ideological messaging into their game. Consumers voicing their opinions will help all parties in this.

I wouldn't look at this like a black and white, modern diversity vs all white, medieval Christian Europe, because neither or those reflect reality. I also like that because it gives the real minority groups of medieval bohemia a bit of a spotlight.

all I want in every game I play is that characters in Game Fit well, Feel like Many Devs try tick the Diversity box to try include cultures/Backgrounds that just doesn't fit in the game & can be immersive breaking , Like the whole Ubisoft thing. Yasuke was a Samurai for around a year before he was sent back in chains to his Portuguese masters. He wasn't considered Samurai by many. Really should of been focused on a Japanese person, maybe with Yasuke as a passing NPC. I like how Warhorse stick to they principles in making it as Historically accurate as possible.
Also, Yauske wasn't actually a Samurai, he was a Retainer for the Emperor, who is just somone who provides military services to The Emperor. There are still aguments today between historians whether a Retainer can be actually considered a Samurai, or not.
I respect that opinion, at the end of the day we all have our own preference. some people prefer historical accuracy, others wish for more modern diversity at the price of historical accuracy. with KCD I think very clear that warhorse studios values historical accuracy above most other things, so no, it wont be like some other games have been recently. I think it would be cool to see more historically accurate diversity. it's a shame that they're treated as polar opposites, when in reality, there has been diversity throughout history. for a game like KCD it's just important to make sure its accurate for the time period.

I think the biggest problem is that Warhorse hasn't explained what they mean by diversity. Does it mean different groups of people from around the HRE or random African's walking around in bohemia. So I guess implementation is key here. With were the gaming industry is going the last few years I think people heard diversity and expected the worst.

As humans, we always tend to focus more on negative comments than on kind ones. I am sure the overwhelming majority aren't out being trolls online. In terms of KCD2, I trust Warhorse to make the right calls and do a good job making the game they want to make. More diversity in and of itself will not make or break the game. It's all about execution and I trust them to find the right balance.

Yeah, the topic is kinda hot at the moment so what you got hit with is a perhaps a form of spill over of that. The first game was already attacked for not being 'diverse enough' as you well know, and that attack has now been renewed. My own five cents on appropriate diversity in place like Kuttenberg, a major silver mining and minting city and a political hub that was at times the royal residence, would include traders, university students and diplomats from Western, Northern and Eastern Europe (less South of the Alps, but some) and local merchant class largely German with some Jews on top. But since we all know that call for diversity always means "does it have blacks in it?", the answer to that would be "near nil." A slave acquired by some quirk, an adventurous trader of exotic goods, part of kings royal entourage or perhaps a diplomat representing some Islamic realm wouldn't be out of place, but that's about it.

I think there's legitimate scope for some diversity within the series. I'd be interested in the next batch of kingdom come games after Henry's story to be based in pre colonial India or in the Spanish kingdoms or Persian or pre England English Kingdoms. There's so much scope for the kingdom part to be explored and produce new interesting areas and mechanics based on different cultures of different periods
I would like to see that privated video to get own oppionion. I'm 40yo Czech. The most diverse what my grand grand mother saw were redheads. Can't imagine that in 1400s it was different. We were alway closed comunity in history. No tolerance for difference and lot of flamable wood.

I feel like each side should treat the other with a bit more grace. We are allowed to have opinions, games are allowed to be designed in different ways depending on several factors. KCD2 announced, everything suggests that the news is gonna keep coming regularly, a lot of attention, a lot of views, new members joining the community, and, nearly out of nothing, you'll start with such a divisive topic. As someone standing on a completely opposite side of the political spectrum, I still undoubtedly agreed with quite a lot of what you said but strongly disagreed with some arguments. I mean, it's your channel. Of course, you have the right to share whatever thoughts and standing you have on this topic, and it's a shame that it resulted in such a wave of personal attacks and hate. But, from a pragmatic point of view, I don't know what you expected. And, most importantly, it was completely avoidable if you approached the topic in a less confrontational and biased mindset. Even tho you think you're completely right. For such topics, especially if you feel upset or angry at the time, I think it's good to take a few days and then double-check and rethink certain things with a clear head. And only then putting it public. Anyway, despite you seem okay, I just wanted to say that I hope you're doing well and not taking the offensive feedback too personally. We love your videos as well as you as a person.
I would give this comment several likes if I could, 'cause that is solid, constructive and wholesome advice offered in all sincerity. If we believe in as much inclusion as possible because we really care about all people then Kingdom Come should be as inclusive as it can possibly be without being immersion breaking. That is the key word - immersion. I have been avoiding news on the game since it is a day one purchase regardless. Was shocked to see your name coming up in drama so had to come see what was happening. I should have known it was just drama and people finding issue where they want to see it. they dedicated themselves to historical accuracy for the first game, it's their SELLING POINT. it's what got them sales, fighting for attention past skyrim and dark souls. they're not going to change that, especially not for a sequel which will get Most of its sales from returning fans. we should expect to see foreign traders, travellers, and nobles in cities (hopefully we get to see prague!) we'll see many people from around europe, like more germans and hungarians, or frenchmen. maybe spaniards and even englishmen. we should also see people from the middle east, traders most likely. i hope we get to see henry interact with another religion, like islam. honestly, if the city is big enough (bigger than rattay), i'd say almost anything goes. rich people travelled, and there were plenty of them across europe and the middle east. but we won't suddenly see 'africans in rattay', or any settlement that's not a Major Trading Hub. i expect we'll see a city like that (again hopefully prague) and that's where the diversity will be. i'd be hyped to talk to a fully fleshed out character, from a completely different culture. imagine a quest, helping out a cataphract mercenary with some bandits. comparing your horses, armour, weapons. he'd have to speak czech but a traveller like that certainly would. the point is, i think diversity is a VERY exciting hint at the people and cultures we can encounter, while staying grounded in bohemia. villages, towns, even small cities wouldn't have any of what i mentioned. just the larger cities. i'm hyped to see what they give us!

Hey I’ve been watching you quite literally since 2018 and this sucks. I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s ridiculous to assert anywhere in the world was one kind of way with NO diversity. You were right, people are overreacting.
Roxy, you were very clear in the first video and the only way someone could have felt atacked by your comment is because indeed they are racists and do not want diversity wether it is historically accurate or not. Most of the videos I have seen regarding the topic of diversity in KCD are assuming that those who talk about the possibility of more diversity in the game are talking about Black people, wich is not the case, and then start talking about the only diversity existing in Bohemia in the XV century being between diverse european christian cultures. Of course, they do not mention the jewish minorities living in there nor the irruption of the Romani people in Central Europe in this same period, and people in the comentaries will be mad at you if you point this out, being a red line that I assume would be the same for peoples like the cumans if they were not the villains. At the end, I don’t really care if the game only shows czecks, germans, magyars and cumans (wich are the ethnicities portrayed in the first game), as from Henry’s story perspective is inmersive and accurate, and I don’t think people will be bothered by that. What p*sses me off is that a bunch of people are politically weaponizing a self-made issue and having the audacity to say that saying otherwise is making the game political.
Estimates for jews living around the rattay area in 15th century bohemia are around 1%. Their economic and cultural influence was disproportionate to their small numbers though. Regarding the Romani, they were just arriving to Bohemia when kcd takes place and they were mostly nomadic, without settling down in any city/village, it is estimated they were far less than 1% of the total population in Bohemia. Germans on the other hand, around 5% to 10% and this was the biggest non czech group in 15th century Bohemia. Estimates around 20% to 30% percent for Kuttenberg or Kutna Hora. So, could you have have jews and romani in KCD2? Yes, historically they were there at the time. Does it make sense for Warhorse to focus on how they represent the romani, a nomadic group, far less than 1% of the population? Nah, making a game is hard, there are more important things than that.
@ It is practically impossible to calculate % of Romani people today, and in the XVth century they did not appear in any census directly, their presence in that time is mostly known through chronicles, and althought they were definitely a minority they were specially overrepresented in ambulant arts or ofices, and there’s also countryside in KCD. With that said, what you say is besides the point, the critique is not “Warhorse is not representing x or y minority”, but more that some Gamers and KCD fans are directly using that made-up controversy to show their racism and justify it through supposed “historical accuracy”.

I think your opinion is totally valid. Interacting with travelers from other lands, being introduced to them and maybe even taking a side quest to get more loot that even pertains to that NPC's home location. I think people have an unhealthy knee-jerk reaction to words like "diversity" and its sad. I agree KCD 2 could use the kind of diversity listed above as you stated in the video. God speed!

We all think diversity should be done right, and you’re spot on with the traders from different places thing. As long as it’s historically accurate I’m happy, at the end of the day it’s a game we love and we’re all still gonna play it.
Rather than sticking ethnicities that could have never been in a region in at certain time periods (or were extremely rare) being overrepresented there (without their own culture and being assimilated into European cultures), preferably, I would rather see a diversity in settings and culture. How about making games set in these different regions where their culture can properly be represented rather than a skin color. That isn't to say that the burden falls upon Warhorse themselves, in fact having Czechs make media on their own history is a strong positive for this effort. But we need these big producers to do this instead of simply inserting various ethnicities into settings they don't belong in with their culture effectively erased.
Don't even stress about this Roxy. I think we need to let artists make their art and our opinions should just be that. You can have them and people just have to deal with them if they want to listen. Your opinion is yours and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks because whether it's a good constructive thought or some dickhead spouting hate, it ultimately isn't important. Unrealistic diversity in games does momentarily break my immersion, but if other people feel more included and represented by seeing someone they can connect to in a game, I am happy to take the momentary loss of immersion.

"Diversity" is such a hot button issue that it triggers people into the most unhinged behaviour. You dont deserve the personal remarks and you should disregard them. Your opinion and point is valid, and I think everyone is largely of the same mind that diversity within the scope of historical accuracy is what folks want. Anyone demanding more or less than that is a tourist and not a fan.

If there were travellers and traders from far off lands, wouldn't it stand to reason that they'd face heavy discrimination from the local population? With "diversity" in KCD2 they probably mean there won't be just Czechs, but also Polish and German people, and maybe even some Italian, Dutch, and French.
Also, considering the specific period, we'll probably get representation of the Order of the Dragon as well, which means Bulgars and Romanians (maybe we'll meet the father of Dracula). And of course some Turks and Magyars. That is diversity, but it's still historically accurate. Also some religious diversity, because the Hussites are about to go crazy around this time.

@@afiiik1 Jews unlikely, most of them in the region were killed in the aftermath of the Black Death, the remaining ones mostly hid their identity. The pogroms were still ongoing until ±1450. The best chance to see a Jew would be a copy of the Waldesians quest in KCD1, which would be a little pointless.
Sinti is possible, but they mostly arrived later in the century, so there wouldn't be many yet, Roma were mostly in a different region. But Romani also generally stay away from more urban regions. So broadly I wouldn't expect either of these three in the games, but it's possible.

I disagree on that. Fan feedback is a good thing. We should discuss things like the level of progressivist messaging in a particular video game, and voice our opinions when we start smelling shit in the air, because ultimately the game they're making is supposed to impress their audience enough to make them buy the game, and because you know they're facing pressure from all sides to inject progressivist ideological messaging into their game. Consumers voicing their opinions will help all parties in this.

I didn't see the video but according to 'Dare To Game', who posted a reaction to it, he stated several times that there SHOULD be more diversity in KCD 2, without giving any further reasons other than it should, that's bad and I wouldn't have expected such a stupid statement.

all I want in every game I play is that characters in Game Fit well, Feel like Many Devs try tick the Diversity box to try include cultures/Backgrounds that just doesn't fit in the game & can be immersive breaking , Like the whole Ubisoft thing. Yasuke was a Samurai for around a year before he was sent back in chains to his Portuguese masters. He wasn't considered Samurai by many. Really should of been focused on a Japanese person, maybe with Yasuke as a passing NPC. I like how Warhorse stick to they principles in making it as Historically accurate as possible.
Also, Yauske wasn't actually a Samurai, he was a Retainer for the Emperor, who is just somone who provides military services to The Emperor. There are still aguments today between historians whether a Retainer can be actually considered a Samurai, or not.
I respect that opinion, at the end of the day we all have our own preference. some people prefer historical accuracy, others wish for more modern diversity at the price of historical accuracy.
with KCD I think very clear that warhorse studios values historical accuracy above most other things, so no, it wont be like some other games have been recently.
I think it would be cool to see more historically accurate diversity. it's a shame that they're treated as polar opposites, when in reality, there has been diversity throughout history. for a game like KCD it's just important to make sure its accurate for the time period.

I think the biggest problem is that Warhorse hasn't explained what they mean by diversity. Does it mean different groups of people from around the HRE or random African's walking around in bohemia. As humans, we always tend to focus more on negative comments than on kind ones. I am sure the overwhelming majority aren't out being trolls online. In terms of KCD2, I trust Warhorse to make the right calls and do a good job making the game they want to make. More diversity in and of itself will not make or break the game. It's all about execution and I trust them to find the right balance.

Anyone who watches you should know how you mean and your intent, which has been sincere since I've stuck along your content. Those are the viewers that will stay and through the wave of negative that has hit you, a calmer sea of support will be there after to aid in your travels.
Yeah, the topic is kinda hot at the moment so what you got hit with is a perhaps a form of spill over of that. The first game was already attacked for not being 'diverse enough' as you well know, and that attack has now been renewed.
My own five cents on appropriate diversity in place like Kuttenberg, a major silver mining and minting city and a political hub that was at times the royal residence, would include traders, university students and diplomats from Western, Northern and Eastern Europe (less South of the Alps, but some) and local merchant class largely German with some Jews on top.
But since we all know that call for diversity always means "does it have blacks in it?", the answer to that would be "near nil." A slave acquired by some quirk, an adventurous trader of exotic goods, part of kings royal entourage or perhaps a diplomat representing some Islamic realm wouldn't be out of place, but that's about it.

I think there's legitimate scope for some diversity within the series. I'd be interested in the next batch of kingdom come games after Henry's story to be based in pre colonial India or in the Spanish kingdoms or Persian or pre England English Kingdoms. There's so much scope for the kingdom part to be explored and produce new interesting areas and mechanics based on different cultures of different periods

KCD2 announced, everything suggests that the news is gonna keep coming regularly, a lot of attention, a lot of views, new members joining the community, and, nearly out of nothing, you'll start with such a divisive topic. As someone standing on a completely opposite side of the political spectrum, I still undoubtedly agreed with quite a lot of what you said but strongly disagreed with some arguments. I mean, it's your channel. Of course, you have the right to share whatever thoughts and standing you have on this topic, and it's a shame that it resulted in such a wave of personal attacks and hate. But, from a pragmatic point of view, I don't know what you expected. And, most importantly, it was completely avoidable if you approached the topic in a less confrontational and biased mindset. Even tho you think you're completely right. For such topics, especially if you feel upset or angry at the time, I think it's good to take a few days and then double-check and rethink certain things with a clear head. Honestly. I didn't finish your last video. The one you privated. It was getting a lot more political than your usual videos. But I never got the impression that u didn't want KCD 2 to be historically accurate from that video. I'm glad that u usually keep politics and such out of your streams. Nevertheless on this point I totally agree with you. These games are special but they are games nonetheless. If we believe in as much inclusion as possible because we really care about all people then Kingdom Come should be as inclusive as it can possibly be without being immersion breaking. That is the key word - immersion.
If the conversation wasn't so toxic I would have loved to discuss where that point would be but I will put it on the shelf for a later date when the game has been out for a while.

they dedicated themselves to historical accuracy for the first game, it's their SELLING POINT. it's what got them sales, fighting for attention past skyrim and dark souls. they're not going to change that, especially not for a sequel which will get Most of its sales from returning fans. we should expect to see foreign traders, travellers, and nobles in cities (hopefully we get to see prague!)
we'll see many people from around europe, like more germans and hungarians, or frenchmen. maybe spaniards and even englishmen.
we should also see people from the middle east, traders most likely. i hope we get to see henry interact with another religion, like islam.
honestly, if the city is big enough (bigger than rattay), i'd say almost anything goes. rich people travelled, and there were plenty of them across europe and the middle east.
but we won't suddenly see 'africans in rattay', or any settlement that's not a Major Trading Hub. i expect we'll see a city like that (again hopefully prague) and that's where the diversity will be. i'd be hyped to talk to a fully fleshed out character, from a completely different culture. imagine a quest, helping out a cataphract mercenary with some bandits. comparing your horses, armour, weapons. he'd have to speak czech but a traveller like that certainly would.
the point is, i think diversity is a VERY exciting hint at the people and cultures we can encounter, while staying grounded in bohemia. villages, towns, even small cities wouldn't have any of what i mentioned. just the larger cities. i'm hyped to see what they give us!

Roxy, you were very clear in the first video and the only way someone could have felt atacked by your comment is because indeed they are racists and do not want diversity wether it is historically accurate or not. Most of the videos I have seen regarding the topic of diversity in KCD are assuming that those who talk about the possibility of more diversity in the game are talking about Black people, wich is not the case, and then start talking about the only diversity existing in Bohemia in the XV century being between diverse european christian cultures. Of course, they do not mention the jewish minorities living in there nor the irruption of the Romani people in Central Europe in this same period, and people in the comentaries will be mad at you if you point this out, being a red line that I assume would be the same for peoples like the cumans if they were not the villains.
At the end, I don’t really care if the game only shows czecks, germans, magyars and cumans (wich are the ethnicities portrayed in the first game), as from Henry’s story perspective is inmersive and accurate, and I don’t think people will be bothered by that. What p*sses me off is that a bunch of people are politically weaponizing a self-made issue and having the audacity to say that saying otherwise is making the game political.

Regarding the Romani, they were just arriving to Bohemia when kcd takes place and they were mostly nomadic, without settling down in any city/village, it is estimated they were far less than 1% of the total population in Bohemia.
Germans on the other hand, around 5% to 10% and this was the biggest non czech group in 15th century Bohemia. Estimates around 20% to 30% percent for Kuttenberg or Kutna Hora.
So, could you have have jews and romani in KCD2? Yes, historically they were there at the time. Does it make sense for Warhorse to focus on how they represent the romani, a nomadic group, far less than 1% of the population? Nah, making a game is hard, there are more important things than that.
@ It is practically impossible to calculate % of Romani people today, and in the XVth century they did not appear in any census directly, their presence in that time is mostly known through chronicles, and althought they were definitely a minority they were specially overrepresented in ambulant arts or ofices, and there’s also countryside in KCD. With that said, what you say is besides the point, the critique is not “Warhorse is not representing x or y minority”, but more that some Gamers and KCD fans are directly using that made-up controversy to show their racism and justify it through supposed “historical accuracy”.

Appreciate you being the voice of sanity and reason and I agree, that kinda diversity is the good kinda diversity, not like the nonsense going on with AC Shadows for example. I think your opinion is totally valid. Interacting with travelers from other lands, being introduced to them and maybe even taking a side quest to get more loot that even pertains to that NPC's home location. I think people have an unhealthy knee-jerk reaction to words like "diversity" and its sad. I agree KCD 2 could use the kind of diversity listed above as you stated in the video. God speed!

As long as it’s historically accurate I’m happy, at the end of the day it’s a game we love and we’re all still gonna play it.
Rather than sticking ethnicities that could have never been in a region in at certain time periods (or were extremely rare) being overrepresented there (without their own culture and being assimilated into European cultures), preferably, I would rather see a diversity in settings and culture.
How about making games set in these different regions where their culture can properly be represented rather than a skin color. That isn't to say that the burden falls upon Warhorse themselves, in fact having Czechs make media on their own history is a strong positive for this effort. But we need these big producers to do this instead of simply inserting various ethnicities into settings they don't belong in with their culture effectively erased.
Don't even stress about this Roxy. I think we need to let artists make their art and our opinions should just be that. You can have them and people just have to deal with them if they want to listen. Your opinion is yours and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks because whether it's a good constructive thought or some dickhead spouting hate, it ultimately isn't important. Unrealistic diversity in games does momentarily break my immersion, but if other people feel more included and represented by seeing someone they can connect to in a game, I am happy to take the momentary loss of immersion.

If there were travellers and traders from far off lands, wouldn't it stand to reason that they'd face heavy discrimination from the local population?
If that's the case, would you be happy with that being depicted? Or do you think they should be all happy dreamland - everyone gets along? Or perhaps somewhere in the middle?

Kcd 1 is set in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, kcd 2 is set in one of the largest cities in Bohemia. It just makes sense there’s be a much higher chance of diverse characters.
Yes but that diversity should be restricted to central Europe. Germans, Poles some Hungarians and maybe French. There shouldn't be Africans, Turks, Orientals, Arabs or British people there because that historically makes no sense.
