Small mistake when it comes to JBL, he didn't drop the title to the Undertaker at WM 21 but to John Cena in what was a memorable Road to WM on both Raw and Smackdown. JBL was great during that run.
When he won his first WWE heavyweight championship everyone was happy for him. The story telling when he finally won the world heavyweight was awesome, those matches with Edge and Punk were great
Eddie was the reason I got into wrestling. My friend who got me into wrestling was so excited after Eddie beat Brock he told me I had to check it out, and he became my favorite wrestler right away. Oof you done messed up a lil bit.... JBL lost the title to Cena at Wrestlemania 21 (and come to think of it I think it was Cena's first WWE title win). But anyways, I loved JBL's title reign. He always found a way to keep it fresh and entertaining and always found a creative way to cheat and retain the title.
I remember Eddie's reign was definitely one of the most legendary, and that moment when he hugged Chris Benoit at the conclusion of Wrestlemania 20, with two best friends on the pinnacle after decades. Absolute shame and tragedy for what was to follow that tarnished and has put that into the background, but I remember my 11 year old self being over the moon
Rey should've won it, lost to Cena at SummerSlam, then Punk returned at the end of SummerSlam. Rey/Cena was a big enough match to carry SummerSlam without hurrying Punk back just two weeks after he left.
And more - Buddy Rogers never wanted to lose the belt, despite his age and health. Vince Sr tricked him into the Garden and it wasn't until in the ring that Bruno stretched him until he agreed to drop the strap
Adding an admittedly obscure one to the error pile... Diesel held the title for a shade UNDER a year, not over (early December '94 to Survivor Series '95). Still, appreciate Simon giving a quick rundown on these first(and only) time "ascenders" 🙃
@@john0128. I think you’re referring to the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble match at Unforgiven 2008 where he replace the then champion CM Punk and ended up winning the title. Bray Wyatt and Kane were perfect transitional champs because they didn't need world championships. Losing the belts didn't really hurt them. Bad booking did in the case of Bray Wyatt

To no fault to Simon and WhatCulture, I've seen lists like this before and it always just makes the World Heavyweight Championship seem like a B-Tier title. Oddly enough the Universal title is treated with more reverence than the WWE title but the World Heavyweight Title is always viewed as "2nd best"
What about a list of true one-time world champions? None of this "well, he held the Raw belt 8 times, but only held the Smackdown belt once" type things. Such a shame that all of Jeff Hardy’s world title reigns in WWE were short lived. I was definitely big fan of him, especially in 2009.
True but baby faces especially ones like Jeff Hardy really don’t need long reigns
