Revan didn't genocide the Mandalorians. He didn't slaughter their civilians or seek to destroy their culture. He out fought them and beat them at their own game. That's why they respected him.
"It was what we wanted all along, in a way. We wanted to fight the best in a battle that would be remembered for centuries. And we did." - Canderous Ordo, Mandalore the Preserver, discussing his people's defeat at the hands of Revan.

Well sure, but Sion and Nihilus represent the ironies of their respective god-like abilities: all-powerful will and all-powerful destruction. After achieving these they became slaves to them since now their lives were dependent upon feeding their respective power, which is precisely why Kreia said that their powers had made them not just weak, but slaves.
Sion became invulnerable and can withstand anything. But he can't ever let his guard down or become vulnerable at all, lest he die. So now that invulnerability protects nothing other than itself. Sion is a shell holding on to immortality for the shear sake of it. Yet he claims it's his power.
Nihilus can destroy anyone and anything. But he can never stop lest he die. So now nothing can stand in his way, but his hunger forces him to put obstacles (food) in his way. So it does nothing but perpetuate itself. Yet he claims it's his power.
In the Nietzschean sense, they both lost the 'Will to Power' altogether, which is just to say they lost their ability to choose a path for their lives. Ironically, by becoming so powerful or rather, too powerful.
      KOTOR 2 had masterful writing.

When I was 10 years old, playing the original KOTOR game on the classic Xbox, it blew my mind when 80% of the way through they hit you with the reveal - You are the mind-wiped Revan. The whole time you think you're getting these force visions cause you're just strong in the force and BAM, its actually just your memories coming back.
Normally I'm a bit better about holding back this spoiler, but that video basically explained it considering the plot of the first Kotor game is teaming up with Bastilla to track down and destroy the star forge, all which is mentioned in the video.
The whole game was made on a DnD system as well, so it still holds up today - as long as you can get it to run.
Something that the guy who made this video skipped is that not only did he take out Mandalore (leader of the mandalorians) in the mandalorian wars, but during the Jedi Civil War, he teamed up with a guy name Canderous Ordo, who proceeded to become the new Mandalore.

"Imagine a story with Revan as the main character." No need to imagine, because what this video shockingly didn't mention (unless it was at the very end after you stopped watching) is that Revan is literally who you play as in KOTOR, the game detailing the events after the Jedi wiped his memories, where the amnesiac Revan goes on his journey to take down Darth Malak. Furthermore, while future stories confirm that Revan "canonically" returned to the Light Side here, as the player you have the option to instead follow a darker path and experience an alternate story and ending where Revan becomes a full-blown Sith again. The game is great, so I'd recommend checking it out. We forgive your disrespectful leave and absence. You have now returned to us, ready to admit your foolishness and rejoin the Sith Army and the war against the Jedi..." And Bane just said: "NO! I am not here to rejoin the academy nor the army! I am here to say my farewells. And my name is...DARTH BANE!" He then turned and left, and EVERYONE was scared SITHless (pun intended) or thought that Lord Bane was a fool, but they didn't crossed His way/was let go unchallenged. Nobody attacked him, and He was let go...just to return and do a cheeky "Rule of 2" on them in the War! >XD
My name is...DARTH BANE!" was such a cool statement. Most students and Sith Lords were too uneducated to know what "Darth" means, and those few teachers who knew were not thinking on Bane highly to care...We all know what happened to all of them in the end! Darth Bane for the win! >:3

Only within the context of Lucas' work. You need to spend more time reading what Lucas actually said rather than just online talking points by power scalers who's agenda is just to make their favorite character seem like the strongest.
Lucas made no consideration for or against the works of other authors who wrote in the EU bubble - to him those were just fanfiction that he got paid for, so he let other people do whatever the hell they wanted and completely disregarded what they wrote. In his own words, Lucas told people that they needed to consider EU works as separate universes and not part of his own work.
Palpatine being on par with some of the true monsters of the setting, like Sadow or Tenebrae, would completely ruin his character and the entire story of the original 6 movies, since him being that powerful creates a TON of plot holes in the movies that just can't be reconciled. This is also a problem that some of the earlier EU works that involve Palpatine have - Dark Empire being the most notable. If they're canon, they break the movies - especially the prequels.
This is also why you shouldn't take a lot of the side material that hype Vader seriously. If they're accurate, they break the movies just as badly as the sequel trilogy does.

@@MsSilentGaming I know that, and still I think he is a goat.
In that sense he is like Palpatine (more like Palpatine got inspired by), he is not as strong on its own initially, but with patience and wits he becomes powerful and feared.
Through rituals absorbing the power of a 1000sith and the energy of a whole planet he became powerful in the force, through body swaping he became inmortal, by hiding himself with body swaping he controlled and united the Sith far longer than anybody in Star Wars history.
Almost becomes a god by performing the initial ritual on a galactic scale.
Fails and gets defeated later on, to bodyswap to create another Empire that beats the Sith Empire and Republic at once.
He is not a Revan, nor Malgus, not a Nihilus either. He is a clever and patient schemer that got to the top, built empires, creates servants and apprentices through manipulation.

'In the warp a giant stirred; an image flickered through a mind larger than a nebula. The sleep of Gork was troubled. In his dreams he wore a metal body and led his children to victory. The dream lasted a brief instant of long eternity, something about it caused Gork to smile but not to rouse.
In the warp Mork too was disturbed. He dreamed of war spreading like a green stain across the galaxy. He saw billions of his children following giant warmachines built in his crude image on a great crusade. He found the dream good. And slowly his vast mind moved towards wakefulness.
Gork and Mork stirred. Their dreams reached out and touched the dreams of their people. A billion Orks turned in their sleep; suddenly, inexplicably infected by scenes of slaughter and reaving, plunder and the taking of worlds. When they awoke they looked on their surroundings and found them dull.
Gork struggled towards awareness. After centuries of dormancy it was a long process. He sensed other Powers in the warp trying to interfere. He blocked a subtle tendril from Slaanesh, ignored a baleful warning from the Emperor, discounted the triumphant cry of Khorne. He reached out with his millennia-old mind and gathered the strength of his people. Soon he would be awake and active. A body of steel had been prepared for him. A time of blood and iron was approaching.
As Mork gathered strength many a Warboss found himself afflicted with thoughts of power. Ancient ambitions were re-kindled. Long vanished thoughts of conquest stirred in the recesses of slow minds. They planned raids on nearby Humans and toyed with thoughts of alliances with old rivals. Not even great soul-searching could explain why this was so. The Ancient Powers knew what was happening, though. The Waa-Ork was coming.
Gork and Mork stirred and a wave of fear passed through the warp. Suicide and incidence of violent crime climbed steeply. On Icolbar an Astropath screamed and threw himself from the balcony of a starscraper apartment, yelling that his people were doomed. On the craft-world Hope of Other Days, an Eldar philosopher stopped listening to the atonal music of his water-chimes and began composing his death-haiku, feeling his life had been justified. On distant Earth, a living corpse in a golden throne opened eyes that held fear for the first time in centuries.
Gork felt his attention being tugged towards one tiny world on the edge of Orkdom. A strange attraction drew him to it. He leaned down from warpspace and looked upon it. His breath brought storms in the Ash Desert. His gaze caused machines to break down. His lightest tread brought earthquakes. Seeing the disruption he was causing among his people he withdrew. He knew the time was not yet right for his return. He withdrew but he left a message.
Mork moved on the face of the warp, brushing aside Daemons and ignoring ancient barriers set by long dead Gods. He moved from world to world and placed in the heart of every Ork the desire to be restless, to move, to follow the siren call of adventure when it came. He sensed other Powers subtly striving to oppose him and laughed as their attempts to restrain his crude, irresistible purpose.
The Emperor knew that he must save his people. If Gork and Mork unleashed their hordes then any unprepared worlds would be swept aside by a green tide of death The Emperor bent his thoughts to the task. Across Human space, within the range of the Astronomicon, Imperial Tarot began to foretell disaster. Commanders consulting them found all the signs of impending catastrophe on a cosmic scale.
In the Segmentum Obscura, Battlefleets were recalled and prepared for war. On the homeworlds of the Adeptus Astartes, Space Marines reached for their weapons, knowing their time of destiny was near. On the edges of the Eye Of Terror, the Orders of the Adeptus Titanicus roused their ancient war-machines. Having surveyed his Empire and seen it was ready the dying immortal within the Golden Throne prepared himself for the conflict to come.
Gork and Mork knew that they were ready. Their people were agitated and prepared for battle The Emperor, their chosen enemy, had deployed his forces. The first skirmishes had been fought, now war was about to be joined.
Beyond them they sensed the Chaos Powers watching, waiting to see what advantage the God-brothers' actions might bring them. In the darkest pits of creation twisted creatures prepared to follow the Orks' advance. Gork and Mork did not care. They knew they were strong enough to resist Chaos.
The time was right. The time was now. It was time for Gork and Mork to have some fun.
In the Warp Gork and Mork waited, well pleased. Across the face of a million worlds their children were on the move, a green tide that would topple empires and re-shape the Universe. The Waa-Ork was on the move.'
I will post this on all of your videos until you watch Baldemort's: The Secret History of the Orks.

To clarify on the mandalorians; Revan didn't wipe out the Mandalorians, but they had a clan structure and were only unified when a strong leader had Mandalore's Mask, a spiritual and cultural symbol. Rather than a full combat, Revan focused on taking out Mandalore The Ultimate and then hiding the mask, ensuring that any reunification of the Mandalorians would only be viable through long term civil war. Very much a head of the snake strategy. And they respected him because the Klingons wish they were as hardcore about a warrior culture as the Mandalorians were.

  • @kennethpeterson7524
    @kennethpeterson7524 5 месяцев назад +1

Revan and his Jedi Crusaders caused a complete shift in Mandalorian tactical and strategic evolution over the centuries. They viewed the "Jetii" sorcerers as the most dangerous of foes, and focused on finding ways to combat them. Building weapons directly into their armor so they couldn't be disarmed by the Force, using area of effect weapons like flamethrowers and explosives that couldn't be deflected by a lightsaber, using jetpacks to enhance their mobility to keep up with the superhuman feats of a force user. They would even use slug-throwers, a rare weapon in Star Wars due to how effective blasters are, if they knew for a fact they were going to fight a Jedi, since the metal projectile would turn into dangerous slag if intercepted by a lightsaber.
As time went on, especailly during the High Republic and after, a lot of the reasoning behind those choices faded and it just became 'normal' to the Mandalorians, but they would still tell stories of the Jetii of the Republic, often exagerrated though.
During The Old Republic video game, the Mandalorians are allied with the Sith Empire, and the Sith are too arrogant to realize its an insult. The Mandos see the Jedi as more worthy opponents than Sith, so allied with the Sith in order to have an easier time finding and fighting Jedi.

@19:31 The dark lords that had the most impact on the history and lineage of the Sith are, in my opinion; Darth Vitiate (Valkorion), Exar Kun, Darth Revan, and Darth Bane. There's plenty of really awesome Sith before, between, and after them, but to me those four had the longest lasting impacts on not just Sith tradition, but on the galaxy itself.

Another thing to note about this is that much of this story happened as the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic released more expansions. Satele Shan, mentioned in the video, defeated the ghost of Revan in her lifetime as an adult, but she is actually the descendant of Revan and Bastila and was born about 300 years after Revan was born. Where does all this time go? It's been a while since I read the Revan books, but before the Knights of the Fallen Empire stuff came out, The Emperor was not yet known as Vitiate, simply being known as the Emperor of the Sith. From what I remember during this period, when Revan went to challenge the Emperor, he returned as a master of both the light and dark side of the force and used both in combat, being the first (chronologically) Jedi to master both sides, the next being Luke. They fought again, where the Emperor attempted to use the force to convert Revan again to the dark side, though Revan resisted for over 300 years, delaying the war between the Jedi and Sith from happening, being stuck in a protracted psychological force battle where he would not be broken. During this time, Meetra Surik, who is the protagonist of KotOR 2, comes in to rescue him, though I don't recall exactly what happens. I believe she fails to save Revan, though possibly she dies here, and potentially Revan does too, or continues fighting and dies later. I can't find the original references that contained this information, since I don't have the novel and the Wiki pages now have information about Vitiate which is different from what I read back in the day, though basically, there exists in book form out there the battle between Revan and Vitiate. Instead of Revan simply being taken down by the other Sith there like some extra, Revan managed to delay the galaxy-wide war singlehandedly. There's more out there, and I just felt like commenting because I felt like the video didn't do Revan enough justice in his final battle. I mean come on, the dude held on for centuries. There are likely some errors here, and if anyone could find references in novels or from a wiki, sourced corrections would be appreciated.
