In college I picked up a shiba inu at the local animal shelter that I affectionately named Shiba. She was covered in road tar and I cleaned her up and gave her a home. One of the best dogs I ever had. Very loyal, brave, and protective.

Awesome dog breed for sure! The Japanese really love and cherish those dogs. You see more of them as you go further inland from Tokyo. I travel for a living and stay at Laquintas sometimes. They can be pretty rough. Usually I get what I expect from them, but I set the bar lower. LoL! There are some that rise above too. You never really know unless you've seen the area and hotel in person before you go. Everything you said about the hotel, I've experienced at a Laquinta too. One time there was a lot of activity in the room next door with people in and out all night. I realized they were rolling dice against the wall and I could hear them exchanging money.

I have a pekingese so not sure if this will work for all dogs or not but it worked with my last one also. If they go out and wont come back in just say "fine stay out there then" and shut the door and don't go back for a long time(obviously only do this if they are fenced in or out in the country,just figured I needed to mention that before I get a comment about it lol). After that everytime you say "fine stay out there then" they will come running LOL So might be helpful if you come up with something like that so you don't have to chase down your dog if it gets away from you

We had a Schipperke Shiba Inu Mix. The best dog we ever had. Lived to be 18. He was very smart and well behaved. Love your dogs!
