Look at it this way; he doesnt earn money straight from youtube ads, but rather uses his youtube audience and channel for advertising his business (store) and deals that make him advertise them exclusively to multi million audience (and those ads arent blockable by adblock and most of the people will watch them because he presents them in a funny way). If he wasnt making any money out of this he woudnt be doing it in the first place.

You can say you don’t like David’s videos or whatever but you can’t deny the huge influence he has on the site right now. RUclips has completely shit the bed when it comes to content creators who are making content for late teens/adults. They demonetize almost every video for certain creators with the claim that there are no advertisers willing to put an ad on their videos which is complete bs. Instead they benefit immensely from content that is super popular yet too risqué for ads because if keeps viewers on the site. If, say, you go to RUclips to watch a David Dobrik vlog you may watch a few but then a recommended video comes up that is for someone you’ve never watched before, you watch a few of their videos and subscribe to them. Let’s say that person has “advertiser friendly” content now you’re bringing in money to RUclips because you’re watching videos with ads and the more views monetized videos get the more money RUclips makes. But it all started because you came to the site to watch one of David’s vlogs yet he makes no money from that whole thing. It’s just stupid that RUclips doesn’t have a system of ads that will play on video that may be seen as more pg-13. And that’s not even touching on the issue of why videos are deemed to not be advertiser friendly to begin with.
I don't think you understand how youtube earns money. They earn money from advertisers that want to advertise on videos. If nobody wants to pay google to advertise on his channel, then why should youtube pay him if they only have expenses
Everyone is forgetting that because of his videos he goes on tour and makes millions doing a tour just in ticket sales, and the amount of merch he sells along the way is way more than any youtube views could ever make up for, he had a pop up store at 368 and sold rooms and rooms of boxes of merch and he doesn't give all the money from sponsored video away, they pay him like $50k to $100k and he gives away like $30k to $50k depending on the amount from the sponsor, but he is by far one of the nicest people on youtube by miles, always makes me laugh and I respect him massive for not changing up his content for more money

He’s obviously making tons of money from other avenues but specifically his Adsense is what’s crappy. $24,000 a year is about $11/hr with a 40 hour work week. You can say you don’t like David’s videos or whatever but you can’t deny the huge influence he has on the site right now. RUclips has completely shit the bed when it comes to content creators who are making content for late teens/adults. They demonetize almost every video for certain creators with the claim that there are no advertisers willing to put an ad on their videos which is complete bs. Instead they benefit immensely from content that is super popular yet too risqué for ads because if keeps viewers on the site. If, say, you go to RUclips to watch a David Dobrik vlog you may watch a few but then a recommended video comes up that is for someone you’ve never watched before, you watch a few of their videos and subscribe to them. Let’s say that person has “advertiser friendly” content now you’re bringing in money to RUclips because you’re watching videos with ads and the more views monetized videos get the more money RUclips makes. But it all started because you came to the site to watch one of David’s vlogs yet he makes no money from that whole thing. It’s just stupid that RUclips doesn’t have a system of ads that will play on video that may be seen as more pg-13. And that’s not even touching on the issue of why videos are deemed to not be advertiser friendly to begin with.
I don't think you understand how youtube earns money. They earn money from advertisers that want to advertise on videos. If nobody wants to pay google to advertise on his channel, then why should youtube pay him if they only have expenses

Everyone is forgetting that because of his videos he goes on tour and makes millions doing a tour just in ticket sales, and the amount of merch he sells along the way is way more than any youtube views could ever make up for, he had a pop up store at 368 and sold rooms and rooms of boxes of merch and he doesn't give all the money from sponsored video away, they pay him like $50k to $100k and he gives away like $30k to $50k depending on the amount from the sponsor, but he is by far one of the nicest people on youtube by miles, always makes me laugh and I respect him massive for not changing up his content for more money

Also, I’m pretty sure the guy knows what he is worth. If youtube is not enough for him and there are other offers that are “worth his level” he will take it.

Yes, but RUclips is not his only source of income, and with this many subscribers and views, he’s probably getting paid so much more from sponsorships, ads etc than ever before. So while he does miss out on that income from RUclips, he most likely makes even more money from somewhere else.

It’s crazy, I have been watching David and the vlog squad from the very beginning. It’s so amazing to see how much they have grown together, but it breaks my heart that RUclips has done him that way. David doesn't even say too much, but for the time i've been on youtube, I don't think I have ever heard any youtubers be THIS transparent, or give much of any insight about how youtube works in regards as a job/career, and how money is involved.
