Wait so Matlock was on a rival network, and ABC straight up telling people don't bother trying to watch another network because the show won't be there? Pretty savage lol
This was actually commonplace back in the day before you had a million channels to choose from and this was way before streaming services. FOX used to do the same thing to ABC to promote their Friday night lineup and even taking a dig at Urkel by saying TGIF is for dorks.
Which is interesting because "Matlock" moved from Tuesday nights to Friday Night I believe in 1991. But Family Matters was a smash hit on ABC, and had higher ratings than Matlock. Matlock was #39 and Family Matters was #27, which was very decent for a Friday night.
ABC’s TGIF lineup for Friday January 10, 1992. 8pm - Family Matters (new episode: A Test of Friendship) 8:30pm - Step by Step (repeat: Rules of the House) 9pm - Baby Talk (repeat) 9:30pm - Perfect Strangers (repeat: Weekend at Ferdinand's) 10pm - 20/20
I don't know the exact names, but Family Matters was the one where they were robbed while Carl slept through it on the couch, and Step By Step was when Carol came up with a bunch of crazy rules, including TV tickets. lol
@@PrincessEli82 Nice. Funny how I probably could remember tons of episodes word for word as I taped them and watched them dozens of times as a kid, but i NEVER really paid attention to the official episode titles. (as you could surely tell from my original post lol)
TGIF was the best thing about TV in the late 80s early 90s.
I miss the 80s and 90s
And ironically ABC picks up Matlock for three more seasons
Carl "I got the reflexes of a jungle cat" lmao

Me: "'Baby Talk' was just a syndication of the movie 'Look Who's Talking'."
Also me: "So?!"
The show sucked, no wonder it got canceled at the end of that season lol.
@@JustinW06 Yah, I was 6 or 7 at that time. My comment is future me talking to past me!
If Matlock is getting droped , you know you got good shows replacing their time slot
No Matlock tomorrow? This stinks!
Abraham Simpson disliked this video!!
AT LEAST THERE WERE OTHER GREAT SHOWS BESIDES MATLOCK.
Test of Friendship
The ABC shows are good.

Except baby talk that show sucked.

What episode of Family Matters is in the promo and what episode of Step By Step? I’d like to know.
