Perfectly in time with the announcement of a new part of the fabulous Monkey Island-series (which I didn't know when I started this project), here's my cover of LeChuck's Theme (composed by Michael Land).
Monkey Island, especially the third part, was a game I played and loved A LOT when I was a kid/young teen and I'm afraid, it shaped my kind of humor (and my love for pirates) more than I am even conscious about. XD
My idea was to start in the kind of original "caribbean"-style and give it a gypsy-swing-streetmusic-touch later on.
Played on hurdy-gurdy, violin, bass, xylophone, steel drum, keyboard (jazz-organ), guitar, cajon and a shaker

I never knew that either untill that melody which haunts me since my childhood popped up in my head whilesplaying the hurdy-gurdy. 😁
And I never thought I would make an arrangement where saxophone, hurdy and xylophone meet. Strange things happen! 😆

all I can say is LeChuck himself would be proud of this brilliantly melodic and chill yet still menacing and evil tune here

You're right: There are still Monkey Island fans out there even though these games are so old and I love that as well! MI has a special place in my heart and somehow lets me connect with my childhood spontaneously when I listen to the soundtrack. So it was a great pleasure to arrange and record this theme for me. :)

Yeah, I love the Monkey Island OST, the intro theme is also such a great piece of art! But there are already such cool covers of it on YT so it's still on my bucket list. ;)
I don't usually know the games from which you cover, but the songs work fine without nostalgia, anyway. Also, I know it is not a game, but I am still rooting for you to do The Mandalorian theme!!!
Hehe, actually I don't know most of the games either, I just love the soundtracks! 😁 But this one and some other retro-games are deeply rooted in my personal nostalgia-hitlist from times when I was a kid.
And the Mandalorian is still on my list, I didn't forget it. There is just so many other stuff I'd love to play so I have to make decisions. 😉

Yes, saxophone for example. 😆 I asked a good friend to play it for this video. 😉 But there are sadly a lot more instruments I can not play at all, for example all kinds of brass-instruments, akkordeon, cello, bassoon, etc. So there is still a lot left to learn! 😁

I sometimes do it but I'm not that satisfied with my voice, so I like to stick to other instruments most of the time 😉
