My parents are eye doctors so I know you need to use polarized sun glasses. Grab 3ish and line them up different directions all together and you should be very safe!!
@@ronaldofan7119if you stare at it you become temporary blind, but it CAN cause permanent blindness if you are not careful. And to answer your question; if you take a quick peek youll will be fine, but if you stare you will go blind.
@@ronaldofan7119 yes, you can look at it for a second, probably lower than a second, but it isnt safe. You can go blind if your not careful, but most likely you will be fine.
The actual reason why is only because of when your eyes go into a dark space, your pupils grow and expand to allow more light in so you can see. When you are in a bright space, your pupils get smaller so they dont take in as much light to not burn the retina (which allows you to see). SO when you are in a fairly dark or dark space which is what happens during the eclipse, your pupils expand (because its dark) and when you look at the eclipse which is like around the same brightness as the normal sun, your pupils let in too much light because they are expanded and all of a sudden in a dimmed space, there is something so bright. So then you burn ur retina and then you get blinded. Tysm for the likes:)
When we were watching the solar eclipse at school and looked at it without glasses for a spilt second and then boom I just got absolutely flashbanged 😭
If you take a colander or something with a bunch of tiny holes, the light cast will be in the shape of the eclipse, alternatively, you can look at the light coming through the trees as the light coming through the gaps in the leaves will be in the shape of the eclipse. I took my telescope out and projected the image of the sun onto a piece of paper to look at it. I could see two sunspots decently well. Probably gonna do this to observe sunspots normally
This is for everyone: Generally speaking, bad idea to look directly at the sun during an eclipse (or at all for that matter). The radiation (which can be more intense during an eclipse) can burn your retina, and there most likely wont be immediate affects, but you will be half blind by the time you are 32 since your retina are what help you see. Hope you feel better man
I looked at the sun during the eclipse for a second, and I felt that pain in my eyes. It didn’t hurt that much, but I could definitely see it as a trip to the eye doctor.
I saw the eclipse VERY CLEARLY because the sun was near my school and it was COMPLETELY dark!! It was awesome because we were right in the shadow! Great experience as a kid!
I learned this trick a while back. First, you gotta fill up a bucket and aim it toward the sun until you can see the reflection of the sun in the water. Then you have to make sure the water is still and not moving or else it won't work. Once you have that setup you get your sunglasses and stare into the bucket at an angle. (so you can see the sun's reflection) When I did this I had to squint my eyes a bit so the sun wouldn't hurt my eyes as much. This was way easier and less painful if you don't have those eclipse glasses.
Oh noooo! Wishing you a speedy recovery! (I also looked at the eclipse but since I didn’t get the solar glasses in time I could only look for a second but I’m all good! lol)
So, eclipse glasses are around 10x darker then regular sunglasses so what happened was your eyes aren’t prepared for the eclipse as you were looking at a dark object (the moon) but there’s a lot of brightness so your eyes get confused and don’t prepare. If you were looking at it for even a few minutes you’d have a giant black spot in the middle of your vision for 3-6 months! And no, this isn’t telling you that you should wear 10 or more pairs of sunglasses to look at it.
No the radiation from the sun severely damages your eyes even if they are closed and pointed at, if you look at the sun too long you will be hospitalized
Next time there is a solar eclipse, order eclipse glasses. If it doesn't arrive in time, either wait for the next one or cover your eyes with your arm and record with your phone. Take my advice.
When I was like 10 I looked at a solar eclipse with my bare eyes because I didn’t know what it was and it was my first time when I looked away I started FREAKING out…such precious moments❤
Tip for the next time this eclipse happens! My step dad taught me this trick he used when he was in school! What you need: -Thumbtack (or needle) -paper plate -piece of paper (Ex: can be a blank piece of paper) Step 1: Get your paper plate and thumbtack (or needle) Step 2: Find a piece of paper (can be any kind of paper as long as there's a blank spot) Step 3: After finding your piece of paper, poke a hole in the paper plate Step 4: Go outside and line the paper plate up with the sun and then put the piece of paper underneath the paper plate How does it work?: The way it works is when you line it up properly it casts the shadow from the eclipse, the closer you put the paper plate to the piece of paper the more visible it is, the farther away you pull the paper plate away from the piece of paper, the less visible it gets! Hope this helps! Please don't look at the sun during an eclipse without glasses! This trick is very useful if you don't have the special glasses that let you see the eclipse!
