    Great job noticing an issue and then making the necessary changes to have your plants do better.

    The garden is looking awesome! I feel you about being behind. I live in Northern Lower Michigan, and I just got all my stuff planted in my garden beds last weekend. I like to have it done by Memorial Day. I still have 1 greenstalk to plant with bush beans, and I am going to try to grow sweet potatoes. Might not have time for those, but we'll see. It's busy this time of year but my garden is my happy place.

    Love your garden. I too am using logs and limbs from our property to edge my beds

    I know it's another expense, but raising the beds at the bottom could potentially help with drainage issues. I'm not sure if I'd consider it just yet, and I'd probably want to see how wet next year is before committing to something like that, but I do think it might be worth considering if the excess moisture continues long term.
    On a completely different note, your videos alone have convinced me that I absolutely need runner ducks in my life. I'd been considering ducks before, but these birds just make me smile every time I see them 🖤

    In my yard I have areas that like to flood occasionally. I have found that using grow bags or raised beds makes a big difference. I am able to grow in the areas that flood using these items.

    We are also struggling with SO much rain over the past few weeks (in Missouri) and now it’s so dry my plants don’t know what to do! I have also moved a few of the more sensitive plants to better drained areas, even though they did just fine last year in the same spot 😅

    Unfortunately Guys, it seems that we have all had a lot of rain in our countries this year, here in the uk it’s been one of our wettest winters ever, and we have been late putting crops out. So it’s fingers crossed for things we have put out. 🤞💋. ❤️🇬🇧🙏

    Getting so much rain, lol. Here in the Southwest we’re experiencing drought…again….., lol. I’m praying the Lord will share your rain with us. My garden is suffering too. ♥️

    We have had the same problem with the rain. Spots that were great last year are staying overly saturated. I'm glad for a little break this week.

    Well Mother nature has really put a 12 punch on everybody
    If it doesn’t work, you might have to switch to raised beds some real high ones I actually had some built recently

    Adding the mulch is such a great idea for weed control and ultimately for soil development buy could it be too "hot" for you plants -- that is, is it stealing nutrients from your pepper plants and that's potentially why they're not thriving in the way you had hoped?

    • @calicocowacres
      @calicocowacres  3 месяца назад

      There was only a very very light layer on top of the soil. It’s definitely the water because it’s only in those beds at the bottom of the slope, and the mulch wouldn’t pull nitrogen from the peppers because it’s not near the roots. They were rotted out.
