Thanks so much for this video. I bought the EON208p based solely on this review. I’ve literally today just bought the Behringer b1200d, again because of this review. 🙏🙏🙏
Videos like this are so useful! I was looking at this same system today and asked if you could link other speakers or sub to it and the salesman didn’t know. Thanks! I’ll probably buy your recommended setup
The price of this in Canada is absolutely shocking. After reading and watching reviews of this unit, this would have been my top choice, though, and a great video, thank you.
I just picked this up used. Sounded great in the store. Got it home and my love e and a string are buzzing real noticeable in chords and when picking on my acoustic
This surprisingly answered all my questions about the full range mode capabilities. My only gripe is that it sounds way too boomy by itself (no subwoofer) and also that causes a lack of headroom. 8” speakers in a small cabinet doesn’t sound all that good with a ton of low frequency content.
Great job on the review, much appreciated ... I am looking to to get something like this to play guitar backing / jam tracks through to play guitar with ..
Thanks for you video !!! I just start study music for Robbie I don’t have any experience. And sometimes when we go to shop to buy equipment we ask than advertising they just sell as things . And mostly of time we don’t use that , cause wasn’t what we want. And they didn’t understand properly. I have that experience at Yamaha shop. With your video I understood and was all I need . Thank you so Much ( could send the mark of the stands too please 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏
WELL I WENT AND GOT ONE OF THESE AND YOUR RIGHT THE SOUND IS GREAT , I BROUGHT THIS BABY THREE WEEKS AGO BUT COULD NOT USE IT TILL TODAY AS I HAD THE COVID BUT NOW I HAD THE TEST AND GOT THE ALL CLEAR, SO I WENT AND USED THIS BABY ,WOW IT;S GREAT , I DID AN OPEN AIR GIG AND ONLY HAD THE AMP UP TO HALF WAY AND SHE DID ME PROUD , I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A YAMAHA MAN PA WISE BUT NOW IT HAS TO BE THE JBL EON 208P WHEN IT COMES TO A PA.
Great video-really help us decide to purchase this system-Thanks Question-is there a way to control the base & treble of music being streamed via blue tooth?
Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I have an issue with getting input to the subwoofer (JBL-LSR310s). Could you please show or provide a link to the cable you used to connect this subwoofer to the PA system?
I would just be using this system for vocals. Just to run mics through it mainly to be heard above acoustic guitars. I won't really be playing music through it.
Because I've had several inquires about connecting the Behringer sub.... Here is how I did it. 1. The sub absolutely needs to be powered, so it needs to have it's own power plug plugged into a working 110 power receptacle. I'm using a basic 3-pin XLR (male) -to- 1/4" TRS (male) cable. I'm using one of these for the powered sub and one for the powered monitor. For the Microphone I'm using a 3-pin XLR (male) -to- a 3-pin XLR (female). Behringer Sub connections: 1. The 3-pin XLR plug = plugs into the "Input A" on the Behringer sub. 2. The 1/4" TRS plug = plugs into the "Subwoofer Output" jack on the Eon208P. Setting on the rear of the sub: Boost = ON Boost frequency = 90Hz High Cut = 150Hz Level = +6 Phase = Rev I hope this helps. :-D
Thanks for the video, eventually this video has been uploaded 3 years ago however I have seen many times to understand the in-depth sound quality before buying JBL eon 208P but it would be helpful for us if you could make sound testing video without subwoofer and alto voice monitor to under stand the eon 208 actual sound quality. But again thanks for the making such nice video for us.
Thank for so much for adding this video, I am also a happy EON208P users since past 1 yr. Can you please share more details about the monitor you are using here...model number etc...
Thanks for the great review! One question...the Monitor Outputs on the back of the JBL are both 1/4" and RCA, yet the Alto speaker only appears to have XLR inputs...how do you hook it up?
Question on subwoofer output from the JBL to the Behringer subwoofer input can you clarifiy how you connected the two? What cable did you use, and did you use 1 or 2 and which inputs on the Behringer did you connect. This is a veryuseful video. I've searched around and even called JBL but could not get a straightforward answer.
Sorry for the incredibly delayed reply. I'm using a 3-pin XLR (in the Sub input) and the other end is a 1/4" TRS male plug which plugs into the "Sub out" jack on the EON208. So the 1/4" TRS plugs into the "Subwoofer Output" jack on the Eon208. The XLR plugs into the "Input A" on the Behringer sub. Setting on the rear of the sub: Boost = ON Boost frequency = 90Hz High Cut = 150Hz Level = +6 Phase = Rev
If I connect an alternative input source from a different mixer, comprising 1 bass guitar, 2 rhythm guitars, a keyboard, and 2 microphones, will it potentially cause any damage, or can the JBL controller effectively manage this configuration?
I’m considering getting this sound system for light backing music and announcements/speakers and what not. The kicker is, the venue is outside and very spacious. Does anyone know if this would still be a good system to use?
Just bought this. Great review!! It looks like you had to crank your Behringer sub to max volume, is that right? My Alto 18 inch 2000 watt sub, I had to MAX out the volume to get "okay" level on the sub. It seems like the subwoofer out level on the JBL 208p is pretty wimpy, do you agree?
It depends on the room acoustics. I do crank my sub to max volume at my house with bass boost turned on, but when I bring the system to my friend's house, we turn off the bass boost. His room gets too "boomy" with everything turned way up. I hope this helps. :-)
What is a good cheap 18" subwoofer to add to this system. I have it and i haven't used it all the way up yet with an acoustic drum set ...I'm worried it wouldn't be loud enough to keep up with an acoustic drum set. So I want to hurry and get a decent powerd sub for this...any recommendations in the $400 ish range
How did you make out? Im looking for a sub to add to my jbl eon 208p. I dont know enough as to what to get to give this system a little more oomph and bass
Hello. I am just wondering if it is any good for music listening purpose only, especially EDM, rock, etc. How is it compare to JBL boombox 2 or partybox 300?
It depends if you're just listening to music or if you're looking for an audiophile setup. Compared to my Martin Logan Motion 30's--- The JBL is louder, but not near as good quality. This is designed to be a "PA loud speaker" system which means it will carry sound for further distances and be really loud so while the sound quality isn't near as good as high end stereo speakers at lower volumes..... It sure does get loud. Whenever people come over for Karaoke and I just have music playing through it before we get to singing, they always say the system sounds really good, but I'm a bit picky when it comes to listening to records to just chill. In that case I prefer more of an audiophile speaker. So to sum it up.... If you need something to get loud that sounds good, this is good. If you're looking for an audiophile experience then a dedicated stereo is better. I haven't listened to the 2 speakers you've mentioned, but I would assume this sounds better?
I'm currently using a heavy duty Amazon Basics brand stand on the right speaker and just a speaker pole stuck into the top of the subwoofer enclosure for the left. The amazon stand is fairly inexpensive and much sturdier than the previous budget stand I purchased from Guitar Center.
Great video, very informative 👍 does JBL ideally recommend this product for a specific hall/room size? Will this be ideal for a hall size if 40' x 20'? I know I can connect my Shure wireless condenser mic (clip-on for Sax) receiver to one of the 4 channels but need to know will I need to turn on phantom power for that channel?
Room size: yes... It has worked perfectly well in a 35x 24 room for us (with sub), so I don't see why it wouldn't work in a 40x20. It really depends on the mic, but I would think with it being a condenser microphone, then power of some sort should be used. With it being a wireless microphone, it probably has its own power source (batteries or power cable) so in that case no, it shouldn't need phantom power. I would try it without phantom power 1st, and if that sounds good, use it without phantom. I would check with the manufacturer of your particular microphone for the best answer to that question.
This is a great review. Thanks. I have one (stupid) question. Can you hook this to a tv (and how, if you can)? Can you have 5 speakers (+1 or 2 subs) working out of this or could you with added equipment?
Depending on your TV either connect it via RCA cables to the L/R inputs (I think it's channel 5/6?) ... If your TV doesn't have an RCA audio out you will need to get a DAC. TV >>>DAC>>>PA. I think you can hook up as many Powered speakers by daisy chaining them. For adding multiple subs you will need to split the signal by getting a cable for that. Hope this helps.
Would these work well for starting a small karaoke business to play for corporate events and perhaps a small restaurant venue? I have a mixer but these seem portable enough. Just worried they may not be loud enough. Would a subwoofer be recommended?
It all depends on the size of the venue. Just playing music, it is really loud but with karaoke you need to adjust the volume to mix well with the mic. Unfortunately, some people don't understand that they need to sing "into" the microphone and hold it way away from their face.. lol. When we sing I usually mix volumes for each singer to match the volume of their vocals. I on the other hand am really loud so I can crank the music. Hahahaha.
I have purchased this eno 208p system 2020 feb & in month of June it started give me trouble. In put is getting in to the system but not getting any sound. Can some one help to find the issue?
I would make sure of a couple basic things first. 1. The volume is up on both the channel you're plugged into (above where mic or instrument cable is plugged into), as well as the main volume in the upper right corner. 2. If using a guitar or other device, make sure the volume is turned up on that device as well as on the unit. Also be sure the mic/line button is set to line. 3. If using a mic, make sure the mic/line button is set to mic and make sure the mic is turned on. ONLY use phantom power if using a condenser mic with no other power source otherwise, keep phantom power turned OFF. 4. If using Bluetooth input, make sure the volume is also turned up on the device (ie. phone, tablet, etc) 5. Make sure the unit is plugged into a working power source and that the speakers are plugged into the rear of the unit. You cannot plug the included JBL speakers into the (monitor output) front of the unit. The included passive JBL speakers must be plugged into the rear of the unit. If using other powered (active) speakers (purchased separately) those powered speakers can NOT be plugged into the rear of the unit. Powered speakers MUST be plugged into the front of the unit. How to tell if the speakers are powered? If there is a power cable and volume knob on the speaker, it's powered. If all is correct, check the level meter (next to the main volume knob). Is it lighting up? If so, and there still isn't any sound, then the inputs and devices are most likely working properly. This means there may be something wrong with the speakers (unlikely), speaker cables (possible but probably not both at same time), or the unit itself. If you're tried all of this and it still won't work, It's time to make a warranty claim. :-( I hope this helps
Im interested in the use of the monitor. I am a singer, and we play to backing tracks. I also play guitar, and my friend plays guitar as well. What am I monitoring? if I am outputting to 2 powered monitors, what am I hearing? just a stereo sound of everything? Im thinking I would like to hear myself singing and my guitar in my monitor, and Im thinking my friend would like to hear his guitar in his monitor. IS that something we can do with monitor output? Any help is appreciated.
Hi Monty. You are correct in assuming you will hear an entire mix through the monitor. Unfortunately with this particular setup, there's no way to differ the sound you hear out of the monitor form the house speakers. If you are wanting to hear more vocals (than the audience can hear) through your monitor, you may need an additional mixer board, or an entirely different system. If you have a mixer board with 2 output volumes per channel ( Aux & main level). That way you can set the amount of volume per individual channel that is sent to the Aux (monitor) and to the Level (main mix). I was just researching an affordable option (with Bluetooth) for my buddy and the Peavey PV 10BT is what I came up with. With this mixer, you would then need to use all powered speakers (instead of the EON208). Powered monitors, powered sub, as well as 2 powered forward facing speakers. I sure hope this helps!
It totally depends on the atmosphere you are trying to create. Lol. If you are wanting to use it for background music, it would do fine. If you are wanting a 100 person outdoor dance floor, this would not work at all. Even with the additional sub I'm using, it just wouldn't be loud enough. If the latter is what you're looking to do, I would either look for a different system all together, or use this system with lots of additional powered speakers and a huge powered sub.
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ruclips.net/user/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
There are audio cables that will help you do that with this system. RCA to 3.5mm or split Y 1/4 stereo to 3.5mm. With rca used channel 5-6 , with 1/4 plugs used any of the eight channels
Actually, the monitor IS amplified. It has its own amplifier so you can just daisy chain more powered (amplified) speakers to the monitor. There's also a left and right monitor out and I'm only using the left.
Hello there. I just bought the same system but I couldn’t get the subs to work. What kind of cable are you using for the subwoofers? Thank you kindly...
I'm using a 3-pin XLR (in the Sub input) and the other end is a 1/4" TRS male plug which plugs into the "Sub out" jack on the EON208. Could things to make sure of: 1. The sub needs to be powered. This means it needs to have it's own power plug which plugs into a wall receptacle. 2. The sub needs to be plugged into power, plugged into the EON208 unit (sub out), the sub needs to be turned on, the sub also needs to be turned up. I hope this helps.
There are eight 1/4 plugs. Those can be used for any instrument using a 1/4 to 1/4 male cable. Just to be safe a DIRECT BOX should be used to bring the signal down to microphone level . Ready to go!!!!
The unit has a reverb knob for each of 4 channels. So you can add reverb to those channels by turning the knob up. There is no selector to change the reverb to echo though.
I wish I had an answer for you, but unfortunately I dont have a party box to compare the volumes, and JBL doesn't list the party box's maximum spl. I know there are atleast 3 different party boxes, the 100, 300, and 1000. I would imagine the 1000 is pretty dang loud. Lol. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Finally one reviewer is smart ennough to talk while testing the PA so we can really undersyand how loud it sounds!!!
Been thinking of getting these for a while and your video was probably the best review I've seen. Might get them now thank you.
Glad I could help. Thanks!

Excellent! I hope you are enjoying it as much as we are! :-)
@@designsbylemayvideo Yep, really enjoying it. Can I ask what settings you use for the sub?
I set the volume level of the JBL EON 208P to about 75% of its maximum level. What is the gain level on the B1200D-PRO should I set please? Thank you.
This review is very helpful, deciding between fender passport and this one. Thanks man! You are awesome.
DON'T GO FOR THE FENDER , IT HAS TO BE A JBL EON 208P AND YOU WON'T GO FAR WRONG, I JUST GOT ONE GREAT SOUND .

@@MalditoZj23 I did not. I wound up going with the harbinger m 200. I’m pretty satisfied at the moment

Thank you for a real world informative instruction.

The best review you hit it out of the ball park with this one...

This surprisingly answered all my questions about the full range mode capabilities. My only gripe is that it sounds way too boomy by itself (no subwoofer) and also that causes a lack of headroom. 8” speakers in a small cabinet doesn’t sound all that good with a ton of low frequency content.
very good review with good camera sound capture. Thanks man

Great review. Well done in dealing with subjective sound topics
Great review ..very indepth, I will buy it, along with an additional powered sub. Thank you for the review
I'm glad you liked the video. We are still using the system and it is still does a great job!

4. If using Bluetooth input, make sure the volume is also turned up on the device (ie. phone, tablet, etc)
I hope this helps
Can we add or connect few more speakers or monitor speakers
Yup. For sure. You can daisy chain several powered monitors. You can do the same with powered subs as well.
Matt LeMay can you add an amplifier and include 2 additional speakers ??
Where did you get the speaker stands for it? how much?
Hi, That is a great review. May I ask you, what is the purpose of powered monitor? thanks
Sorry for the major delay in reply. Eek! The powered monitor is so the performer can better hear themselves singing or playing.
designsbylemayvideo yes as musician and singer need to hear what they play
I am about to start this journey for a solo acoustic gig. How can a monitor benefit me ?
Wats the name of the cord u connect the sub
Nice, I would like to have one.
How would this perform in an ou it door setting with 100 people in the area?
It totally depends on the atmosphere you are trying to create. Lol. If you are wanting to use it for background music, it would do fine. If you are wanting a 100 person outdoor dance floor, this would not work at all. Even with the additional sub I'm using, it just wouldn't be loud enough. If the latter is what you're looking to do, I would either look for a different system all together, or use this system with lots of additional powered speakers and a huge powered sub.
@@designsbylemayvideo have you tried using powered speakers for main outs? 🤔 thank you!
Is there a way to connect a mp3 player to it and play music through it ? (Pls reply it’s urgent)
yes there is
There are audio cables that will help you do that with this system.
RCA to 3.5mm or split Y 1/4 stereo to 3.5mm. With rca used channel 5-6 , with 1/4 plugs used any of the eight channels
Does it come with battery backup system? Please reply
No, it sure doesn't. It needs to be plugged into a power source for it to work.
Can you add an amplifier where the monitor is and add additional speakers
Actually, the monitor IS amplified. It has its own amplifier so you can just daisy chain more powered (amplified) speakers to the monitor. There's also a left and right monitor out and I'm only using the left.
Thank You
Hello there.
Could things to make sure of:
1. The sub needs to be powered. This means it needs to have it's own power plug which plugs into a wall receptacle.
2. The sub needs to be plugged into power, plugged into the EON208 unit (sub out), the sub needs to be turned on, the sub also needs to be turned up.
I hope this helps.
@@designsbylemayvideo sir have you tried using TRS on main outs?
Silly question but does portable mean rechargeable and wireless??
It has bluetooth but not rechargeable.
One issue for this model is the control box gets hot fast. Especially when using outdoor on a sunny day
THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR EVENTS PROGRAMMES MARRIAGE , PARTIES ETC....
YES, YOU CAN TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK NOW.
It all depends on the venue size, but it is really loud for it's size.
So is there a channel you can plug a guitar in?
There are eight 1/4 plugs. Those can be used for any instrument using a 1/4 to 1/4 male cable. Just to be safe a DIRECT BOX should be used to bring the signal down to microphone level . Ready to go!!!!
Will it be able to use in small Church?
300 watts will be enough
I went with the SM58 as well. Should I go with this system? I’ve been eyeing this and the Yamaha 600I
While I can't tell you what you should go with, I will say that we still love this system. :-)
Would you recommend this for live singers in restaurants etc?
How do you add echo for the karaoke?
The unit has a reverb knob for each of 4 channels. So you can add reverb to those channels by turning the knob up. There is no selector to change the reverb to echo though.
How did you connect to tablet to the speaker?
Most likely bluetooth
What Mic are you using,,,,,,sounds excellent
Thanks Erick. I actually recorded this with my Samsung Note 9 phone and just used the built it mic. Pretty crazy huh?
Really???😲Woww the sound is so amazing and clear.
Crazy right?!!😳 It takes incredible video. 😁👍
Yeas it does,,specially the audio ...so impressed
Would you buy it again?
I sure would!
What speaker stands did you go with?
I'm using a pole that fits into the sub for one side, and I just recently got an amazon basics steel stand. I love it!
I was trying to get this, but seeing that you need that extra subwoofer it makes this unit not that practical.
Are PA systems louder then a JBL partybox 1000
I wish I had an answer for you, but unfortunately I dont have a party box to compare the volumes, and JBL doesn't list the party box's maximum spl. I know there are atleast 3 different party boxes, the 100, 300, and 1000. I would imagine the 1000 is pretty dang loud. Lol. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Matt LeMay thanks for the reply!
You welcome. Lol. I just realized I've been replying to all these with my other youtube account. Hahahahaha.
Matt
Depends on what unit. The EON's would probably be louder.
Best quality sound Bose s1 vs eon?
Does the system sound good outdoors - any idea of the distance the sound would carry?
