First of all, comments about her head movements are absolutely unacceptable. It's called playing passionately, and in a way it even makes it way easier to play correctly. Trust me, I speak from experience. Second, her performance is not awful. I've started practicing this piece on my own, and it's a very, very difficult piece. I think her performance is amazing.
+Maja Hassel No, its' not called playing passionately. It's called shouting to the whole world "Look,, see how passionate I am and what a great artist I am". The bigger the movements, the lesser the performer; the smaller the movements, the greater the artist. Joh.Seb. Bach was said to play the organ so that you could hardly se his hands and fingers move. -Or, as the Chinese say: Big man, small hat; little man , big hat".
To all of those saying 'she looks ridiculous' and 'I hate her playing': - her appearance and the way she acts when playing shouldn't matter, only the music itself should - you have the right to think that, but could maybe express it in a way that isn't rude - use the terms 'I think' or 'to me', it could help you sound less patronising - her technique and interpretation are very good! As a string player, I can say that yes, she does play very well! Spit your poison on someone who deserves it!
it's a mistake of the audio engineer not the player, all players do all certain types of noises, you hear a final product with those noises either gated or not even recorded by the careful positioning of the mic(s), don't blame her, i've been working with audio and recording to my self and other artists for over 14 years now, and to be honest she's a very talented player.
damned chumps commenting on this post about how terrible Anisimova is - yas dont know crap - if ya did - it would be you getting the big bucks not Anisimova. masters reverberate their sound, your body is part of your instrument as well.
You being American one does not wonder that you, like the rest, are absolutely without breeding. Being American you have no choice but to look up the word "culture" in a dictionary of foreign loan words. Salvador de Maderiaga (Spanish ambassador): "America is a land of boys, who refuse to grow up."
Sven Jahnsen You are so blinded by your "cultured superiority" that you can't even see that you are the very thing you despise. What you are describing is what others see when they look and listen to you. It is sad really. I hope you will be cured of your hipster disease...but I won't hold my breath.
unwinding time envious of america >< why do you life, whats your purpuse in life? i bet u cant answer those questions becouse you have been distracted to much by the corporate machine to even think properly. u americans (generalisating on purpose) only satisfy your short term needs by Buying crap eating crap acting like crap. while u get depressed for not being able to find purpose in life.
Why should it be "unacceptable" to comment on somebody acting as a clown? It has nothing to do with playing with passion, -only a child or an amateur would think that. Playing with passion is b e i n g passionate, -not showing violent outward signs of so-called passion. This woman is trying to cry out: "Look everybody, -can't you see how passionate I am and what a great artist I am." It's very infantile. Besides, -her rendering of this beautiful piece is terrible and mannered ......as is the rest of her.. Of course, -this comes from America, where showing off is much more appreciated than genuine sentiment.
Only infantile thing here is your comment... you're being utterly ridiculous. If you ever heard La Folia, you'd know that an adaptation like this is very challenging, but she did it amazingly. About movement, the best musicians still do it, pianists, cellist, violinists. Take a look, YoYo Ma, Hilary Hahn, Claudio Arrau... movement is not required but in intense pieces like this one seldom you'll find someone sitting still. As someone who plays cello, I have been playing for five years now and I am still stiff, let me tell you, moving like this without looking at your instrument, getting lost in the music is all but childlike.
Du hast absolut recht. Ihre Spielweise ist hysterisch und voller Selbstparade und Selbstgenuss. -Sehr gut ausgedrückt !!! Dies ist himnmelsche Musik auf ein Anfangsstadium hinuntergezogen
La Folia doesn't have any one, specific author/composer. Surely you know this (lol) 🙄 It's a hundreds of years old enigma phenomenon that has been and continues to be a blank canvas for the artist performing it. I'm just wondering how many of you commenting are actually musicians. Myself, I have been playing the cello for 40 years, most of them in an orchestra. And some of you have the gall to call Americans "classless" 😂
(Clown 🤡)
This is perhaps the most dreafuld rendering of this beautiful music one will evr encounter. Not only is it not played on a gamba, but the music has been torn apart and the phrasing is if a beginner was pratising. Absolutely disgusting.
Good grief. You write 2 insulting comments about this performance, and in the process make 4 basic spelling mistakes and 2 grammatical ones. If you must find fault with others, at least first look to yourself. Also, for some reason, you seem to think that this piece is only to be played on a viola da gamba, this is not so.
Blightyish Saying that a typing error is not a spelling error is a poor explanation. As for the grammatical mistakes, I notice that you have corrected the one in your comment to Saruska (thus the word 'edited').
Love it. The cello is the most beautiful ever....
Bravissima, una grande violoncellista, meraviglia !!!
Wonderful!
What great sound and technique. Am vascillating between envy and admiration.
Magnifico!!!
In my opinion a beautiful performance.
Absolutely delightful !
That was ... devine. Thank you so much, it brought me to tears!
No piano needed. The cello, in her hands, sings, it does'mt play, it sings!Beautifull
Of course no piano needed, 'Tis a baroque piece.
harpsichord?
Oh, I do love this...
Je ne dirai qu'un mot : «Merveilleux !» -- Only one word to say : «Marvellous !»
Magnificent!!!

Blightyish Maja’s correct. You’re coming across as childish...

Jealous much???😂😂😂🎶
Bravo !!!! Transposition to one instrument is difficult enough , never mind this masterpiece :)
Awesome.

Thnis woman is surely not an artist, but an "ar'tiste" (with the stress on the last syllable.
She makes this absolutely clear.
You being American one does not wonder that you, like the rest, are absolutely without breeding.

You didn't get it. Listen again without watching the video, you'll see, her playing is very agile and mastered.

Weird haircut!
Stop SNIFFING. Horrible. Ruins the whole piece. just gastly.
