Clear, concise and under 2 minutes. Thanks man I appreciate this. Just got the pop up alert on my 2016 pony telling me to change this battery and started freaking out thinking the key fob was about to die at any moment.
You got a warning for that? I never got a warning it just said "key not detected" while driving and now my main and my spare fobs do not work - not even in the cupholder slot. Gonna buy these new batteries and try swapping it out and I pray that is the only issue
DagenhamDave59 my car has a custom radio that’s done some funky stuff to the car so it’s anyone’s guess what’s happening. Right now the car doesn’t detect both key fobs and even putting it in the cup holder doesn’t work. The alarm still works just fine tho. It loves blaring every time I open the door
When my first fob battery needed replacing, the dealership charged me. Never used my 2nd fob. 5 years later, it's falling apart and beat up, so now I figured I'd use the 2nd fob that's in immaculate condition. When I used it, I got the battery low indicator. This time, I'll change it myself and I'm sure it's an easy process just as long as I know how. So I came here and omg... took about a minute. Can't believe they charged me for this back then. Thanks! Best part was... I had a package of 2025 batteries in the kitchen drawer! No need to go to the store!
Thank you! You are amazing! My key fob came apart and one piece fell on the ground at the store today. Have not ever used the key to open the door and had no clue where to even put the key into on the handle. When I called the Ford Dealership where I purchased and take my car to get serviced, the guy that answered the phone really wasn’t helpful at all in anyway. I was able to get it put together enough to where I could get my trunk and car door to open! I got home and knew I had another key fob. I found your video and wow! You made it so simple to change the battery from the broken one and place them into my other key fob. You totally made my day!!!
You just saved me like $300. I changed the battery on another key fob and couldn't figure out how to put the fob back together. The dealership "tried" and couldn't get it to close, then sold me a fob cover. I recently planned to purchase a new one. They were going to charge me over $200 for a new fob and then another $50 or so to program it. Just watching your video showed me how to put the old one back together. And like you said, it is a little tricky but you have to listen for that little click and voila it's back together again. It's been in the cover for about 4 years. SMH. 🤦🏽♀️ Thank you. 🙏🏽
My gf dropped my key in academy couldn’t find out why it wasn’t working afterword when it broke apart… she was putting it back together with only one battery inside. Thanks man
Really helpful video, thank you. Interesting, if concerning point though, from the moment the car alerted me to the battery needing to be changed to the key actually dying was one locking and 1 unlocking so all I can recommend is that as SOON as you see the warning, change them. But a great video,
Soooooo helpful! Thank you for this! I rewatch it every time I have to replace my key fob battery. I guess I don’t do it often enough to memorize the process. 😂
key fob rob where did you get the key case from with the horseLshelby logo on the back instead of ford...? please help i am exahusted in trying to look for one
2025 battery. Good. I was having trouble finding the right one with a regular search. I figured out the rest, but I didn't want to tear apart the key before I headed to the store.
Thxs for this. Made it pretty easy. Found it odd tho that I have 2 FOBs for my 2017 Mustang and the car gave a low battery warning for both in the same day after 4 years, Thing is I only use one ever.
Is there a part number for the key holder just it self I have a 2015 Mustang I am missing the key holder would u happen to know if there is a part number for it
so its my understanding the 2032 is the same size as the 2025 but has more battery holding capacity. have you tried dropping in 2032's- will they fit inside the casing?
question, just got my 2015 mustang back and my battery and starter are basically new and my key fob isnt working and seems like its dead because my car wont lock and buttons wont work. Any ideas? Do I need to just switch the battery inside it?
Is there some way to get a replacement for the metal piece that holds the batteries? My son dropped his, it broke open and he did not get that part so now it doesn't work.
Good video and I have now put new batteries in both of my key fobs for my 2015 Mustang GT Premium but what you do not explain is how the 2 new batteries should go in if you forget to look at how the old ones were placed/sitting...i.e. each battery has writing/numbers on only one side of the battery but do they go in with those sides facing each other or not or does it matter? In case it does matter, I replicated how the old ones were sitting which was with the bottom one with the writing side facing up but the top battery with the writing side facing down. Any comment? However on another subject, what is strange is that my dash warning is still on when I enter my car saying key battery low-replace soon. Unless someone here has the answer for that issue, I will have to search on-line or call my dealer to get rid of that warning. BTW, my new CR2025 batteries have a best before date of May 2021 so I think they should be fine unless they were sitting in the store too long before I bought them a few months ago (in Feb. 2020) and are not fresh enough for the purpose of the warning...?
It's not absolutely necessary but that is what you would use if you were locked out of your car if the fob died. There is a slot by the door handle to insert.
Technically, they are very similar batteries and are generally interchangeable as long as you have enough room. I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
Battery you need - amzn.to/2VLcPjg
It's already been said.. but you're a saint. 2 minutes, no BS, even an Amazon link to the battery? Bravo, sir.
Really glad I could make your day just a little bit easier! Take care
Clear, concise and under 2 minutes. Thanks man I appreciate this. Just got the pop up alert on my 2016 pony telling me to change this battery and started freaking out thinking the key fob was about to die at any moment.
Glad you got that sorted out!

DavyDave1313 yeah, I got an alert on my screen. That’s odd that you didn’t get an alert. Maybe your battery died out of nowhere. I’d get some spares.
I fly at the seat of my pants mines been on for like 6 months just finally changed it!

No you will not need to reprogram
Thanks a bunch. Oh bottom battery the + side is up and the top one the +side is down.

2025 battery. Good. I was having trouble finding the right one with a regular search. I figured out the rest, but I didn't want to tear apart the key before I headed to the store.
Nice!! Glad you could get it sorted out
Thanks! Works well now. Appreciate your help!
You're welcome
What happens if you don't have the paper between the batteries? Where can you get replacement?
I don’t think missing the seporator would be a issue, however you could make another one by just cutting a pice of plastic and set it on top
Two batteries!?!?! Man, first time I've encountered that.🤔😕
Yeah. Pretty unique for a keyfob
Thxs for this. Made it pretty easy. Found it odd tho that I have 2 FOBs for my 2017 Mustang and the car gave a low battery warning for both in the same day after 4 years, Thing is I only use one ever.
That is odd. Glad the video could help you out. Take care!
Yeah same here, precisely at 4 years and both. Makes me think it’s programmed in
Thx from overseas.
You bet. Take care!
Good vid, thanks homie
You bet - take it easy
you're a life saver thank you
No problem
Quick question, I lost the little paper thing in the middle do I need it or would it still work?
You need the paper divider.
Preciate you Rob, Stang Gang 🐎🇺🇸
Glad the video helped!
Thanks a million - life saver
I got your back 😁
Is there a part number for the key holder just it self I have a 2015 Mustang I am missing the key holder would u happen to know if there is a part number for it
Just get a new fob you can buy em for 20$ on amazon
Very helpful. Many Thanks...
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this , even a no talent idiot like me managed to change mine after watching this! No more dash warning , 2015 GT
Nice! Glad it was helpful!
Will I have to reprogram the fob after i change out the batteries?
as long as it hasn't been dead for a long period of time, you will not need to reprogram
Nice and simple thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks bro for vedio 👏
No problem
so its my understanding the 2032 is the same size as the 2025 but has more battery holding capacity. have you tried dropping in 2032's- will they fit inside the casing?
2032 and the 2025 are same size in diameter but not thickness.
What's that piece of paper between the battery there for? Mine never had it
Henceforth, ye shall be a Saint 🙏
thank you so much brother... God bless you!!
Same to you!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
question, just got my 2015 mustang back and my battery and starter are basically new and my key fob isnt working and seems like its dead because my car wont lock and buttons wont work. Any ideas? Do I need to just switch the battery inside it?
That is the most likely scenario. Get a new pack of Amazon and try it out - amzn.to/2VLcPjg
My car actually told me my key battery was low.
Is there some way to get a replacement for the metal piece that holds the batteries? My son dropped his, it broke open and he did not get that part so now it doesn't work.
This replacement case includes the metal piece - amzn.to/3TBJ6IM
Awesome!!! Thanks so much!
@@KeyFobRob
you bet! You can easily swap the internal board into this replacement fob and get you back up and running for ~12 bucks
I accidentally took that top piece that goes on a lanyard. And I can’t get it back on any help?
Did the same thing with my key. Thanks
Good stuff!
The positives face each other, the flat side is positive
Many thanks.
You are welcome!
Many thanks!!!!
You're welcome!
Does it matter what side the batter is flipped to when placing it in the key fob? Like does a certain side need to be facing up?
It does matter. It's been a while since I changed this but just follow what I did on this fob and you'll be good to go.
Thank you sooo much 🥰
You’re welcome 😊
Good video
Thanks for the visit
Can the battery be any other type?
Note the battery polarity when installing.
Thanks man. :D
No problem!
Your instructions are clear, but I can't get the stupid fob back together.
What’s the key inside for? I bought my car used there is no key inside
It's not absolutely necessary but that is what you would use if you were locked out of your car if the fob died. There is a slot by the door handle to insert.
