Thank you for the content and education you put out on surfing! I started surfing 2 years ago, at the age of 31, and have progressed far quicker then I originally thought. Having fun and visualizing are my key ingredients! I solely longboard a single fin, I'd say I'm in the beginning phase of intermediate; this video is great, and so much is, of course, applicable to longboarding, but I was wondering if you have could make a "Tips for Intermediate Longboard Surfers"? I'm now learning how to cross step, but I still need to learn how to read the wave so I can trim on the face to gain speed and elongate my ride... I've been inhaling slow-mo videos and watching all kinds of tutorials, but I think your channel breaks everything down to the smallest variations, and variables, I would love to see an intermediate longboard tutorial from you! Thank you!

So frustrating wanting to improve, but not being able to get in the water!
I grew up in the city but used to practice the Pop up and stance at home.
I also used to pretend a wall or hedge was a wave and imagine Surfing it hahah!
Don't know if that actually helped me in the long run, but gets you thinking about surfing movements at least...

Good one! Bottom turn example is not the best. Surfer doesn’t set up properly and as a result does a big counter rotation with his arms at 1:49. If he’d thrown his back arm back just after the bottom this would’ve been avoided.

If you only think with your body and just expect to do the manoeuvre you may likely fail. Like if your cutting back and you don’t think
Of the whole body doing it on the board you might fail. I found focusing on the entire movement and believing it would happens intuitively helped. There’s vast improvements I could make but I’ve only been learning to ride mini mals and Funboard s for 8 or 9 months. It’s a tricky one, all of it. I am who I am and it’s funny getting frustrated because moments later it doesn’t matter and I smile. But think with your body not just your mind.

A.succesful pop up is key. For elder surfers with lower back issues a stand up paddle board eliminates a pop up and nirvana soon follows. Remember a clean beach is a safer beach, pick up some trash before you leave your spot.

at 3:40 the surfer catches the wave while barely paddling. On a short board. I thought you had to be going as fast as the wave to catch it. I thought you had to be an extremely strong paddler to catch waves in 3-4 strokes. It looks like he's barely paddling. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Born and raised in Hawaii iv been surfing my whole like and I can't stress how important the last tip is. I've seen good freinds get frustrated and jealous of other surfers and end up quiting. Iv seen people take surfing too seriously and get into fights and then avoid spots and eventually just stop surfing. The best surfers I know are the ones who are just out there because it's fun. Iv never seen a really good surfer get discouraged or jealous. Endless your making money then surfing is a hobby and I think it should be treated that way.
