yall its 15 if it follows algebraic PEMDAS (Scientific Calculator) due to distributive law where you have to multiply joint parenthesis equations first and its 0 if it follows arithmetic PEMDAS (Basic Calculator)
If we strictly follow the operations order via the PEMDAS initialism then the answer is indeed 15, as we always multiply first before dividing. I get why Seoyeon thought that was the answer. Smartphone/online calculators however give 0 as the answer. They are actually following a slightly more complex system which still uses the same PEMDAS idea but with an added condition of left to right precedence for equal priority operations, those being mutiplication/division and addition/substraction. So that's why 0 is the correct answer, as you would divide first before you multiply in this equation.
Brackets are the highest order of operations so you must finish whatever’s in the bracket first which means you have to do 2(4) first which will be 8 then 16-8/8=15
I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. The whole point of brackets/parentheses being first is to finish the calculations of what is only inside them first, the order of operations doesnt care that there's a 2 just beside them outside. For this calculation to follow that order the notation needs to have been 16-8/(2(2+2)).
@@8ligh7 Whenever you finish a equation in a bracket and get the resulting number, which, in this is 2, you will always have to bring the number out first above everything, making it the highest order
This is 15, ain't no way.. 2(4) is one variable.. You have to fuse them first before solving the rest of the equation. Calculators are not 100% accurate
This is why parents shouldn't help their children with their schoolwork Edit: following the order of operations the correct answer is actually 15.... The prompter actually got it wrong and Seoyeon was right.... Nvm, always listen to mom
Actually 0 was the right answer, 16-8:2(2+2) = you can also write it like this 16-8:2x(2+2)= So do the section first, 16-8:2x(4)= After that because the multiplication and distribution having same power so prioritize the left side first.. So, 16-4x(4)= then do multiplication 16-16= 0 That's why the answer 0
@@muhammadzulfikriarsyad1711 if you use a calculator and type in the exact question it will be 15. @@infinit2867 agree, i dont understand why this still not been corrected even now in primary school. i'm electrical engineering graduates, every paper, books and journal i see doing things like that. if there is no symbol separating number and bracket, means its a part of the bracket which is 1st priority also. for example a(b+c) = (ab+ac) not a x (b+c). we having even more confusion using / because most of the time everything after that symbol is one line untill there is space. for example a/b+c = a/(b+c) if you want (a/b)+c you should put the space a/b + c
@@arthstg Actually u're wrong. If u pay attention, (ab + ac) = a x (b+c), just put any integer or real number and u will get the exact same answer. And u can't do the (ab+ac) in this case because there were no brackets at 2(2x2) so 2(2x2) means 2 x (2x2). There will always be * there, written or not. It will be different if the case was 16-8÷(2(2x2)) then u can do the brackets first. Math equation can be written in many ways, but the result will always be the same, no matter what. Last time Soomin is trusting unnie 😅 For anyone confused, look up BODMAS or PEMDAS depending on country but simply the order you should do the equation is inside brackets, divide, multiply then subtract: 2+2 = 4 8÷2 = 4 4(4) = 16 16-16 = 0
nope, because 2(2+2) should be done first. They are together, it shouldnt be split up into seperate steps, but instead have the 2 be distributed in to form (4+4). Hence why the actual answer should be 15.

How it is 0 ?
I thought in math anything in ( ) would be the first priority.
So the answer should be 15
when they solved the ( ) they confused it with multiplying the number beside it and not simplifying the original equation first, that's why they got 0

For anyone confused, look up BODMAS or PEMDAS depending on country but simply the order you should do the equation is inside brackets, divide, multiply then subtract:
2+2 = 4
8÷2 = 4
4(4) = 16
16-16 = 0
16-8÷2(2+2)
= 16-8÷(4+4)
= 16-8÷8
= 16-1
= 15
The producers are wrong.
According to bordmass rule and calculater and google
16-8÷2(2+2)
16-4(2+2)
16-4(4)
16-16

The answer is 0 and only 0 wtf are yall yapping 😭
