Hey man, I watched this video when you posted it last week and I wrote notes and drew pictures and did some watching out my window based on this video. I won my first match this weekend and tied the current club record, best I’ve ever done in a match. This video helped me a ton. Thank you!
Awesome demonstration of how to use the natural features at a range to get a solid ballpark on wind. Great technique on using the window as a white board also. Thanks for Posting this.
This was one of the best practical application videos I have ever seen. And then to bring out the Kestrel to confirm what we were reading was icing on the cake Great job, More of these type of videos are needed Keep them coming
Joel well done there! That was a great way of explaining it! Really helped me out! I’ve been out walking my dog with the wind meter and standing next to trees and trying to guess the wind at where I am by looking at what is going on around me, but now you have explained that I can make a much better guesstimate of it all. Thanks again! Checking in from across the pond in England 🏴
That is great content! It's also worth noting that trees and bushes can develop a certain resistance to wind depending on their climate. So while this is a good rule of thumb its worth making your own observations. I really loved the real time discussion of what we were looking at!
* Nope I can't. The answer to your question is: I can't call wind stronger than 15mph. I live in Missouri! It's never windy here. lol What if there are no trees? Same answer.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork lol, just joking with ya. This vegetation out here doesn't start moving until the winds hit around 25 mph, then the sage and creasote bushes just wiggle back and forth a little. And the mirage is too intense to read at midday when the sun is overhead. But we do have nice wide open public land to shoot long distances on. And the desert has a beauty all it's own.
With your help I’m pretty good at understanding wind speed. I’m not good at connecting wind speed with proper hold-over. Yesterday I was hitting steel at 700 yrds until the wind picked up. I was struggling in a 5 to 7 mph wind. There was no consistency at all. Would love to hear you connect the wind to hold-over on reticle.

Glad it was helpful!
...neat way to present this Joel. 👍
Thanks!
Very nice and clear way of explaining wind
Thanks
Reading about calling wind in Books is a lot different than actually getting to see real life examples. Thank you very much sir. Very helpful!
You bet. Thanks for watching.

Richard Trezise excellent! Thanks for watching sir.
Very good wind explanation Joel, really liked it. Good video for all.

Practical Precision Shooting Thanks for the tip and for watching.
This is a damn near perfect video. Thank you so much. Incredibly helpful. 👍👍
Thanks for watching!

Would love to see more videos like this
Short, sweet and EXCELLENT! Thanks
You bet. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for such a concise explanation. Great content!
that was helpful. now come visit the western desert. it takes a very strong wind to move the bushes out here. mostly mirages are used.
Thanks. Yeah I need to travel more, and get a better idea what wind is like in other places.
Straight to the point. Great video.
darkspectro100 Thanks for watching!
Great short video!!!
Nice! That all makes sense!!
Very informative short video 👍
Glad you liked it
Good video
A bit different and more thorough than some visual keys I've seen
Thanks for watching.
nicely done sir!
alsj61 thanks 👍
One of the best video. Great idea to use the windows plane!
Thanks for watching.
For us over here in the desert southwest, could you do a version of this wind theory using cactus and dust?
Man I wish. I rarely shoot in that kind of environment, so honestly I’m not certain how best to call wind out there.

Good info to have if you don't have a kestrel 👌🏼
Awsome video. Haven't seen in illustrated like that before. Love the check list.
Cool, thanks

I'll see what I can do on that. One way is to obey the kestrel if you use one. There are other non-tech ways as well.
Great tips Joel 👍
Thanks.
and then I had to clean my window 😆
That was great, thank you
👍
Cool stuff, man! Thanks!!!
You bet!
Great class.
Thanks
Outstanding!
Nice video. How are some other ways that you judge wind and then confirm through out your day? And also in urban environments?
Sounds like another video…😉
Could you do this video in a fall or winter setting with no leaves on the trees?
Are you asking if I am able to? Or are you asking if I will make another video the same way, but with no leaves on the trees?
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork another video in a fall setting.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork winter time with no leaves and snow on ground?🤔👍 Thanks Again for your help
