I also picked up "Tropica" for the art as well as the music. At almost 82 I just need to stop. Lol.

Haha! Perhaps your love of record-collecting is one of the reasons why you've made it to almost 82 (and hopefully beyond), so never stop having fun with your records. :)

Absolutely love the "Road To..." series of movies. I own the DVDs. Didn't know there were "soundtracks"! It should have Dorothy on it.

Dorothy Lamour and Peggy Lee both recorded for Decca around that time so the only explanation I can think of is that Peggy was the bigger singing star and draw at the time. Interestingly, they still credited Dorothy starring in the movie on the back. So far I’ve resisted picking up all those South Pacific LPs. There are still too many regular Hawaiian, Tahitian and exotica ones I don’t have that are more of a priority. But maybe 2600 of them later…
I’m going to get that Lahaina album as well. It looks and sounds really good and his fundraising effort lasts through the end of this month.

20:50 I just ordered that 'Lahaina Sunset' record album as well as Arthur Lyman's 'Leis of Jazz Vol. 2' on record and CD from Digit Tiki. I look forward to receiving those albums and I hope, in a small way, that I helped the residents of Lahaina after that horrific, devastating fire.

Loved your comment and eye popping when you mentioned Florence Henderson's "shrill" voice. Your eye pop was great! About the landscape and portrait argument: Maybe you shouldn't video so close to the camera. I personally would like to see the entire face of the albums, just my opinion. Hey, you asked. Enjoy listening to you talk about your collections and how you go about the process.

14:45 Speaking of Peggy Lee and of 'South Pacific' albums, I really love her rendition of 'Bali Hai' which is very hypnotic, sensual, and relaxing. :)

LIKE and comment number 1 which is always fun. I'm an exotica music fan for sure and I have several album versions of 'South Pacific' as part of my collection, although I prefer albums by Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Gene Rains, Tak Shindo, Robert Drasnin, etc. :)
