Two points I think you missed. One, Shuri is trained. We even saw her fight in Black Panther, Infinity War, and End game. Also, if Shuri killed Namor (even tho she wanted to), it would be the end of Wakanda. The Talokans had a way larger army and would have waged eternal war against Wakanda if they killed their god.

I mean, I see how it would have been easily done, and I also see why it wasn't done.
All it would have taken would have been a wide establishing shot of the entire Tolokan army surrounding and converging on their ship. The Tolokans riding on great troop transport whales surfacing all over. Dolphin riders as far as the eye can see. That would have been pretty cool.
Pretty sure they just cut corners and saved some time and money on what would have been to them a lot of money and work for background stuff. Missed opportunity I say.

Shuri is from a royal family, and they all learned to fight (remember her and Ramonda with their spears when Namor shows up in Wakanda for the first time? also in the first Black Panther and during the big fight in Endgame) she just chose to focus on science and technology while T'Challa took on being Black Panther as heir but Shuri CAN fight. Also, she's not stronger than Namor when they fight in the desert, he's just weakened enough that it could be a semi-equal fight then towards the end she uses her strengths (agility to get in front of him and rip his wing off and strategy to use what's left of the royal talon fighter to fry him)
Namor didn't get dumb, he got cocky (surely they wouldn't try and fight us on OUR turf) similar to Wakanda ("we wish you the best of luck" [on finding vibranium outside of Wakanda]) Talokan is still much stronger than Wakanda, meanwhile, Wakanda barely got out of that fight with 10 warriors. Shuri kills him, and the hundreds of thousands or even millions of Talokanil will come for retribution against all of Wakanda because he's seen as a god by the Talokanil. Shuri retains her humanity, saves her people and Namor gets what he's always wanted anyway: Wakanda as allies and a war with the surface world in the future...Shuri only 'won' barely.

I only had a basic idea of Namor’s powers and their levels prior to this. A quick look-see on the marvel wiki reveals that Namor has beaten savage Hulk and Red Hulk. His power levels depend on his contact with water and decreases the longer he is out of water. Out of water he has beaten she-hulk, Luke Cage and Thing. He has also gone toe to toe with Silver Surfer.
Some details I already knew about his are at the time of his creation in 1939, he was the first flying superhero (superman could only leap tall buildings in a single bound at the time and first flew in the radio program in 1940). His origin was later retconned to be a mutant after the creation of mutants in marvel comics in 1963.

    • @shade7448
      @shade7448 Год назад +1

@@vordt4139 if you go by comics, he maybe is as strong as the hulk. Yes they fight, and quite a few of the times that Namor has straight up beat the hulk is either on or under the water. So ofc Namor in his element is a better fighter than the hulk out of his element. I also wouldn’t say that Namor is “stronger”, he’s a more capable and skilled fighter and is faster, and from what I’ve seen in his fights with hulk, that makes up for the lower strength.
Even Ryan Coogler said that Namor is “as strong as Thor, and around water is as strong as the Hulk.” But that quote doesn’t really even make sense either because we’ve seen in the MCU that hammerless Thor beats the Hulk in ragnarok. Thor with stormbreaker and odinforce probably demolishes Hulk. Thor with stormbreaker almost kills full gauntlet Thanos, so these things stop making sense.
It’s totally fine to say Namor has beaten the hulk in the comics, and he probably could in the MCU since MCU hulk is weaker, especially as professor hulk who isn’t angry. But using an extremely unclear word like “stronger” and not saying that you mean in the comics just muddies the conversation. Being able to beat someone does not necessarily make you stronger in terms of strength.
Besides how would M’Baku know how strong the hulk is. Especially after only being punched once by Namor.

And the way they ''recasted'' T'Challa without actually doing it is amazing way and so respectful. The soundtracks, the visuals, the actors, everything was 10/10. Can't wait to see more of Namor and now M'Baku as the new king of Wakanda is gonna be really interesting. Great movie. I hope Ryan Coogler is gonna stay at this franchise and continue working on Black Panther. Fantastic director. Also the beautifull Marvel intro in the beggining. My cinema was so quiet. No one was drinking, eating, talking and even breathing. Amazing.

We all cried a lot, even me, who is very hard to get to cry with movies. It was definitely worth it, I have a lot of respect for how they made this movie feel like a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, instead of simply replacing him

Namor McKenzie AKA "The Sub-Mariner" is one of Marvel's oldest characters being created in 1939, along with being the first Mutant. He's also the predecessor to Aquaman, who was created in 1941
They changed Namor's origins as a half Human half Atlantean to a Talokanil due to Universal still having the main rights to the character. His ethnicity was also changed from a White/Asian to a Latino/Hispanic
And yes, he's as strong as the Hulk (WHEN IN WATER), can fly at speeds up to 345mph (555kph) , and has the durability of Thor
"Imperious Rex!" is the Atlantean battle cry in the comics
Sorry if I'm ranting, I'm just a HUGE Namor fan

Went to see this in theatres and just silently cried in the back of the theatre. Such a good movie to mourn Chadwick
Edit: also for the first five minutes of the film there was no noise from the audience, no wrappers, no shifting, nada.
Edit 2: I mean in defense of Shuri not killing Namor, as M’baku pointed out he is a god to his people so killing him would’ve been to sign up for a never ending war. Chadwick hadn’t actually passed yet when this film started production, the writers had to scramble when he passed on. Shuri becoming the black panther after T’challa’s death and Riri becoming iron woman are both comic accurate. I do wish riri was given more development in this film but I assume she’ll get more screen time in another film.

It was a very strange experience but also kind of beautiful I guess, to see so many people be touched by Chadwick and to share in the sorrow. As for the movie, I think as a tribute to Chadwick and T'challa it nailed it. As for the story, I thought it was alright c: I definitely didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it completely. Namor and Shuri are definitely not friends after that fight lol. The reason why Namor didn't just go and kill everyone in Wakanda or kill Shuri was because his main objective has always been to persuade Wakanda into allying with them to attack the surface world, it was never about destroying Wakanda.
He basically got what he wanted in the end with Talokan and Wakanda reaching a truce plus he probably knows that the attack on the bridge was pinned against Wakanda so the US (and its allies) will definitely take offensive actions against Wakanda and Namor then can use that to back Wakanda into a corner to agree with them to help wipe out the surface world.
