This video was really helpful . I fell in love with this Sapele wood at a local wood supplier near me and have been searching for a kind of basic break down on end tables . As fate would have it my wife just bought a new love seat and couch for the family room as looking to add a little flare . As an aspiring traditional woodworker this video has helped me greatly . Thanks and God bless you .
I think the finish is a better result. On the other way : With time stretches and shrinks the wood, and you can always see the color breaks at the connections.
GREAT project Colin. I like the black on the bottom shelf. I would not have thought of doing that, but it turns out to be a simple design element that does enhance the overall project.
I don't really think that the colour of the bottom shelf matters a great deal as it will be covered with magazines when the table is put in the living room. Very nice table none the less. Nice one Colin.
Thanks for the comment ... one of these days I will spend more time on finishing and talk about the white versus black element .. thanks for mentioning this I have made a note for future vid ... thanks buddy
I like that doweling jig tip.have to remember that. Thanks for sharing the making of this beautiful table I love arts and crafts style. You should give the Arts and Crafts Style chair a go so match the table
Excellent video, thanks! Love the blue tape trick- I am endlessly messing up projects because of my directionally-challenged brain. Remembering these type of tips can really make a huge difference!
A great video project Colin. I really enjoy Arts and Crafts furniture it's probably my favorite if I had to just pick one. Mission furniture is a definite contender for that spot as well. Nicely done Amigo. Derek
Great timing since I have a similar build coming up. I don't use my jointer to clean up the glue like you did with the legs. I use my table saw for that. Aren't you afraid the piece wont lay flat when you run it thru? Surprised no pocket holes for the top. I definitely refinish when there are so many pieces and cramped space. Thanks again.
Hi Paul, yes use the table saw too one I have flattened and squared, then depending ... I sometimes use the jointer again, times like this I wish I had a big sander ... oh well, maybe some day. Would love to see pics of your build, could even post them on our facebook page
Well done Colin, Great little table for arts and crafts and many more uses. I was trying to determine what wood you used for your table. Anyway it finished up quite nice. Thanks for the posting.
Hi Ron, this was Red Alder ... I bought a lift of it some time ago, I love working with alder, it's easy to work and it seems able to transform it'self to look like many other woods.
Nice to see. A&C furniture went out of style in the 1930s-70s but is again very popular. I don't think it will ever go out of style again as long as us woodworkers love building in it so much. What wood was that?
Great little end table. I especially like that the finish went on before assembly, so much easier that way. Are you going to publish plans for the end table?
Hi Colin, hanks you for another good video and work order suggestions. Briefly you showed the use of a Japanese style pull saw. I have the same saw. I read somewhere that one side is for ripping and the other side is fro cross cutting. The teeth are of a different style compared to a Western style hand saw. So how does one tell which side to use?
Very nice Collin! Just wondering, Why do you leave the bottom of the top unfinished? Would it be more prone to moisture changes this way? Thanks for your reply
nice table. would it be possible in the future to also give measurements in CM. if your table is 21" high according to my conversion it is about 53.34cm. than you give the legs as 5.5"x1.5" which equats to 13.97cmx3.81cm. and also measurements of apron also does not look correct. I have used the American Imperial to CM conversion. Great Furniture. Love your shows. Thanks

hey. .... First time I see someone finished first. and then assembled! Thats the right way!
Thanks Chris, I don't always do it that way, but doing it more and more ... thanks buddy

That dowel jig is fancy...I need one
*Excellent video-tutorial Colin, rather timely for me as I've been looking for ideas to construct a small table from Silky Oak or Mackay Cedar.*
Perfect .. thanks Leari
Thanks for showing.
Thanks Jim
Great little table Colin..I would have liked to have seen how you connected the pickets in and whether you used small spacers in the dado...

Hi Michael, yes this one was Red Alder and I agree with you about A&C :)
very nice Colin! love the arts/crafts /mission style tables..
Thanks Joe ...
thanks for this, I have a question. How did you fasten the pickets?
very well done...may i suggest you to put some hinges so you could open the top. thank you for taking the time to share your videos..
I had not thought about that .. always good to hear others ideas, thanks
Love the table and thanks for turning me on to Osmo! Love it and your work!
Really cool project , I might try this! Thanks for the Video!
There 'ya ... maybe you will send me pics :)
Great little end table. I especially like that the finish went on before assembly, so much easier that way. Are you going to publish plans for the end table?
Hi Frank, thanks for commenting, only plans will be dimensions that are published in the article on woodworkweb ... wish I had time to detail them

I like it
good work 👍
Thanks buddy
I did the same thing with dowels drilled in wrong position. I also glued cut and redrilled.
Very nice Collin! Just wondering, Why do you leave the bottom of the top unfinished? Would it be more prone to moisture changes this way? Thanks for your reply
Nice table. BTW Colin I think you are the only woodworker on You Tube that uses the guards on your table saw!
Yes, I think I might be ... they are not the greatest, hoping to get an over-arm version one day, but thanks for noticing Neil
Hi Colin, can I ask the brand of your dust mask? It looks very comfortable. I hate mine so much I use it less than I should
Hi Leroy, yes I am using something called and RZ Mask, it works quite well and they are reasonably priced

Thanks Bobby, did you get the measurements off the website or the video? I wish I had plans to share.
WoodWorkWeb Of the video
Hi Colin. Can you list exactly how much wood I need to purchase. Very nice yable.
Not sure about the "Osmo" for quality/ease, but at over $60/liter on Amazon, it is certainly the most expensive finish I have seen!
Any chance of getting the specs for your cuts?
Lovely table, Colin. What kind of wood is that?
Did you fill in the gap between the slats?
thank you sir
Thanks for commenting Piero
Thanks for the video, nice gob.
What is the name of the tool at 9:46?
Don't mess wit Ikea Bub. That place is awesome! It's a maze for adults.
2 people wasted a trip to ikea just prior to this video being released.
lol ... thanks Taylor, you comment made my day, I think I need hire you !!
Love the videos, but sometimes you breeze over the assembly to fast.
